Unbelievable, what an energy. She just blast her way through, where other sopranos often show tiredness, she gives them all a lesson in singing. A beautiful voice too singing gorgeous lines.
Very nice; gorgeous pianissimi, but what's with the aspirates in the cabaletta at 7:38-7:47? Meade can sing coloratura as well as any singer around. Her past recordings and broadcasts consistently show her to be fluent and smooth in fioriture. I hope this isn't a bad habit she has picked up. It disfigures an otherwise wonderful performance.
She's actually a lyric spinto soprano, which makes this level of mastery of coloratura signing even more impressive than if it were coming from an actual dramatic coloratura soprano.
Nairatmya Hers is a quite big (spinto)-sized voice with a relatively bright and lyric timbre and very good coloratura and high register. Classification is tricky.
Spinto? You have no idea what you are talking about. She is a great soprano, but far away from any spinto quality... you cant compare her with Millo, Tebaldi, Tucci ecc... you should listen to her live, and see by yourself that she does not have a big voice (not even near) nor any great medium and low register... at most a lyric soprano.. and obviously the timbre is very very bright for a spinto... by comparison Dimitrova and Marton are what? Baritones???
@@rnerse Marton and Dimitrova were dramatic sopranos, not spintos. That being said, Meade is probably just a big voiced lyric with some agility, but who cares? Just enjoy it.
@@aaronmalone7065 She is a dramatic coloratura, which is lighter than spinto. In terms of vocal weight, dramatic coloratura is not that different from big lyric. That’s partly why both Callas and Caballe excelled in these sorts of roles.
She has an incredible voice, but I like her more in theater than I do on recordings. Her voice fills the Met, but on recording, there's a coarseness about her voice that I don't like so much and sometimes she her pitch suffers on those stressful high notes.
It is difficult to tell what note she is singing with the wobble. This holds true for the other singer who sounds like her. The vocal placement is not that of the Golden Era of Singing.
She would sound even better if she would keep her mouth more vertical, singers today spread their mouth to much and then when they go for a nice high note they look as if agony as if they are trying to smile as big as they can, Angela is good but has all the sound that can still be improved on.
There is too much motion for a young singer. It's just too loose. She needs to have a firmer tone. I'm not a fan of slow vibrato which is truly a wobble , but not fluttery either! The tone should shimmer but if you notice the vibrations more than the actual pitch, it is incorrect. Remember when Carol Vaness restudied because of that tremolo she had? I had a hard time listening to her a well....
A spirited performance with nice embellishments, but spoiled by her shameless use of heavy aspirates in the coloratura passages. Odd - I've never heard this flaw in any of Meade's other performances. There's no question she has the technique to sing fioriture in legato fashion without resorting to tricks like this. Too bad.
The best dramatic coloratura singing today. Stunning.
Ecco una che può permettersi questo repertorio.
It has been a long time since we've had this surplus of wonderful singers in the soprano bel canto repertoire. Angela is really wonderful.
She sings this like a boss.
Grande...!
Canta hermoso esta mujer....enamora su canto...
Y esas melodías de Verdi, ....Mamma mía!!!

Stratosferica!
This is more like it, bring down the house girl. I think she has found her repertoire. Fabulous.
The more I’m listening Meade, the more I like her.
It is because she has been improving steadily.
She came in blasting the roof off with big yet agile voice of hers.
Incroyable!

Dramatic coloraturas are sprinto sopranos at their core so you are absolutely correct.

I love how large singers have not gone out of fashion.
I do really like her but the intrusive h is really noticeable.
A432 please.
Mockers stay away. She is the best thing currently driving opera fans wild.
Frenetic...
sublime! grandissima

MrSkylark1 She has absolutely no wobble, what she’s got is a big fast vibrato. Maybe even a fluttery one.
Joan Sutherland would be proud
Seriously 😳
I think not.
so it seems that too screamy, shrill, hollow, wobbly and very out of tune is the future of opera? Cool, got it.
I bet you’re a Netrebko fan 😂

This must be one of the angriest and loudest Rhinos in the world.
An unattractive fluttery vibrato blights the performance! Along with a total lack of interpretation.
