Ok, this clip just shows how fucking important it is to choose the right repertoire...she’s clearly much better in these early Verdi roles, why not stick to it?
Yeah I have to agree with Eric. You can't make a living off early Verdi. There just wouldn't be enough work consistently. People need to stay booked and that often leads to taking roles that singers may not necessarily be the perfect fit for. That's just life.
This suits her better than Rossini. She has a facility in her extended upper range and enough volume for Verdi. Early Verdi is really her thing with its dramatic coloratura. Adding: Did not say she was good and doesn’t have issues… Her voice could be so much better. (Her tremolo for example)
Henry Carey Her a little weird coloratura is so prominent in Rossini. She’s better here and her vibrato is not good for the more velvety demanding parts as Desdemona or the lyrical parts of Aida. But this is my opinion. Meade would be nice to hear in Stiffelio and I Due Foscari and so on.
