Hi everyone, here’s a special video on Hungary’s north, which I think is way underrated. If you get a chance make sure you explore the many beautiful places there, close to the border to Slovakia. 👍😊

@@januslog However Miskolc is still fighting with it's communist 40 years (old houses were neglected, allowed to deteriorate then, nasty panel houses had been built instead), we have still many thing to repair and develop, but Your video always searched for the nice things and was made with a nice heart. When the Diósgyőr Castle renovation will be ready, it will be worth to visit. It is about 750 years old! The Avas Tower lookout point and the surroundings are also under renovation in the center of Miskolc, but next year it will be also ready and there is a very nice panorama from it to Miskolc. The also 750 years old Avas Calvinist Church and the surrounding cemetery on the Avas hill in the town centre is also a precious sight, just as the Jewish Cemetery at the west side of the Avas-hill, it also has a wonderful panorama to the Bükk hills.

1:35 Lutra the otter. Lutra is the main character of István Fekete's novel Lutra. István Fekete has several novels with similar animal protagonists (e.g. Vuk fox, Kele stork, Bogáncs sheep dog, Hú owl). What they have in common is that it shows the typical behavior of the main character animal. The landscape, the wild animals and the people living there are also present in the novels. The novel was also made into a film with the same title. Some of the film's scenes were shot nearby at a trout farm. The farm can be reached by light rail.
If you travel by light rail, it is worth going to the end. In the meantime, you can see the Őskohó (ancient smelter ), which is also rare in Europe. There is also a museum here with period tools, products and machines.
A jelly festival is held in Miskolc at the beginning of every year. In 2023, it will be between February 14-16. The jelly is a strong broth that has congealed into a jelly. According to the nationally known story, a frog once jumped into the unsolidified jelly and blinked at the guest. Since then, they say that if someone doesn't understand something, it blinks like the jelly from Miskolc. Of course, the festival cannot be imagined without blinking peaceful jelly. :)
The interesting thing about the city is that it is one of the three cities outside of Budapest that has a tram. The other two are Debrecen and Szeged.
    Note
You can pay by card anywhere in Hungary.
    Motorway vignettes:
The shortest duration is for 10 days. Its validity can be complete (for the entire country) or separately for each county. If you want to travel to Mickolc, you must purchase a vignette valid for two counties (Heves and Borsod).
    Tip
If you want to travel by train, you should install the MÁV app on your mobile phone. Here you can find out about the current situation, the trains and buy a ticket after registering online.
The QR code of the ticket received on the phone must be presented at check.

Thanks for this report. You're right, the North of Hungary, and especially its Northeast, is largely underrated. Having said this, I'm afraid you should learn the principles of Hungarian spelling, as you completely mispronounce several names: Miskolc is pronounced "Mishkolts".
