This song was born on a tour bus going to Portsmouth UK in 1971, when a reporter asked the band how they wrote songs. To demonstrate, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed an acoustic guitar and began playing a riff cosisting of a single g repeated over and over, while vocalist Ian Gillan improvised lyrics over the top. the song was refined and was performed that same night.
The opening track to their 1972 album "Machine Head". Arguably the best album they ever did. Such a great opening track to an album filled with great songs. A classic!
The live version that the color footage in this video is from is one of the best live videos of Deep Purple. Jon Lord is awesome and Ritchie shreds the solo so hard he breaks strings on his guitar
Deep Purple are so great in concert. Love these old videos of them playing live. Looked like you two really enjoyed this song. What did like the most? Check out the album Made In Japan. Double live album. Probably the best live album ever recorded! Enjoy!
DEEP PURPLE, "HIGHWAY STAR"...THOSE HIGHSCHOOL DAYS MUSIC WAS SO GROOVY. I WAS GLAD TO SEE YOU TWO SURVIVED THIS FAST INTENSE SONG LOL.. ABOUT A MAN AND HIS LOVE FOR HIS CAR...I WAS ALL IN AS SOON AS I HEARD SINGER IAN GILLAN OPENING SCREAM , GIVES ME CHILLS EVERY TIME.. THANKS ALOT YOU TWO LOVELY LADIES. ON TOO THE NEXT...WHEEEEE....
There's still great music...check out the girl's Band-Maid 'Dice' reaction. Their drummer cites Ian Paice as an influence and, in particular, Highway Star. Deep Purple and Band-Maid...the best rockers for my car journeys.
It's a time when hard Rock was it's best, you could listen again and again and never gets bored. I literally grew up listening to DP since 1975 and still listening all the way back to the awesome 70s. It's a nice surprise to see 2 teens from Nepal reacting to hard Rock songs, keeping your air rocking girls.
Way to go girls. You Rock! I'm so glad you are able to listen to such amazing Rockers. There is hope in the young generation. Thank you. The Dolphin Man
Ladies l dont remember if I mentioned this to you before. This is my favorite band. Based on your reaction it looks like your becoming a fan as well... Im happy your generation is enjoying classic gems like this from my generation
Awesome reaction.. this is actually the studio version dubbed over two separate live versions the first video was from German TV 1971 right before machine head was released and the second one was from Copenhagen Denmark early 1972.
You should have hit the Made in Japan Album version of "Highway Star." This version is Rubbish comparatively. Since you already missed out, go directly to "Strange Kinda Woman" by Deep Purple from the Made in Japan Album. The song has got top 5 guitar solo Alltime Classic Rock history. Cheers from the Past!
Love your reaction to this song ladies, also Highway Star is such a great Deep Purple song, also, this song was played at the beginning of the Wii game RockBand 😊😁
You’re traveling alone late at night on the highway and you feel your eyes slowly closing but you know you have to wake up or pull over before you fall asleep. You turn on the song and get your body super charged for a couple of more miles.
This is my favorourite band and i am very happy for yours positive reactions in this classical tune , most powerful in the MkII era. Hope you listen the 🏆🥇🏆 Top of the Tops alive rock album , called Deep Purple - Made in Japan. Have a nice day , pretties 😊.
Löve the reaction (very strange to see India?girls and so young rockin DP)! Forever classic genius lyrics and instrumentation ♥ It's 50?! years since it was released and i was just around 7-8 years old.. and still Deep Purple have the exact same impact on me \m/ Have you listened to the song "Burn"? Doh (Make that the the whole album "Burn") with songs like Burn Lay Down Stay Down Might just take your life Whats goin on here You fool no one and if you're lucky the bonussong Coronaries redig ☻♫ . and yes, Jon Lord on keyboards made up such impossible beats/melodies im sure he influenced many gamemusic dev's ♥
@@ReactionRetreat aah im sorry my dears, thats what my brain gave me in the heat of writing, but dont be sad it wasn''t to abuse you. Just an example as my uneducated thoughts of girls from these regions is not sitting and rock out to Deep ''purple :) Warm thoughts to you ♥
I know i shouldn't say it because it's a channel for music.Heyho you're both attractive. But i really the one who tears up and is slightly older.I could marry you in a second because you're so kind.Well yer both doing a bostin job.xx
One of the all time great straight-ahead rock songs, but this particular video is kind of weird to watch, in that almost none of the guitar/keyboard playing is properly synced between the video and audio
Why is it that every single ‘reaction’ video, the reaction is EXACTLY the same? Nobody ever reacts negatively. They react just as they think they are expected to. They’re all just superficial, quick and easy ways of building up a UA-cam channel with no effort involved.
