I staid here with my then love., 2010. His aunt owned the hotel before it was sold to the Aman resort. It’s just as I remember it.. Thank you for the clip.
I've stay here too. I've also stayed at Amanwella. I prefer Amanwella. Amangalla has more of an old world charm. It's part of a colonial era building. Amangalla is a little like The Raffles Hotel in my country, Singapore. It's a more understated, less 'pretentious' version of Raffles Hotel. Which is lovely. The most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in is the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhhur. It's a stunning and impressive building. The Maharaja's family still stays in this palace. Do check it out.

When it comes to traveling people have different needs. Some enjoys big cities, famous monuments, museums, malls clubs etc. Me on the other hand enjoys peace and quite. I like to visit secluded islands far far away from hustle and bustle of big cities. My favorite hotel brands are Soneva and Six Senses.
Mine or Soneva, Six Senses and ... Aman. Real Amanjunkie here :-)

I was there about 20 years ago, drinking tea of course :-), in a beautiful serene setting. Loved it.
It’s a very beautiful Place. I stay in a lot of hotels because of my job. These are mostly Marriott and Hilton as well as NH collection. Mostly the big Brands. These are typical Business and City Hotels and have everything we need. When I’m on vacation I love to stay in Club Med. I’m a huge fan. It combines everything I want. Located in beautiful places it offers Sport activity’s and water sports. They have a Payot Spa and delicious food and the staff is very good.

OMG--just got back from a week in New York City and read your comment that the little red suitcase was damaged beyond repair. RIP Red, you will be missed. Dr. LTE, you must buy another red suitcase, or will the airline replace it? They really should--Red was world famous :-(

is it wrong that I noticed the typo in the welcome letter? Amangalla is located in historical Galle Fort a 400 years old Unesco World Heritage site in Southern "cost" in Sri Lanka? shouldn't that be Southern Coast?

I revisit your videos all the time. As someone commented on your channel for therapy. I wanted to ask about the pool here. the green tone of the water. Is that treated water? Safe to swim in? Is the color from the make up of the pool?

I stayed in this hotel in the 90s..it was a right dump then.

Just curious: I noticed the pool water is green! Is that just the color of the bottom lining of the pool or is the green color perhaps caused by the pool water not having been treated properly/frequently? 😮

The room looked amazing but no tv which could be a good or a bad thing, at least they have the library downstairs. The pool area was fabulous- nothing like straight lines to represent the simplistic style of yesteryear instead of a curved/kidney shaped pool. Breakfast especially the eggs bene made me so hungry I had to go make a sandwich...
My 3 favorite hotel brands are Aman, Oberoi and Four Seasons.

No fans or air conditioning?
This is a hotel for older people. No one under 40 with money would stay here voluntarily.
A couple of comments ... a) it’s very easy to become an Aman “junkie”. All it takes is one stay! b) I heartily agree with your rationale ... I’d rather stay for 2-3 days in a true luxury property than two weeks elsewhere. c) I have a few “favourite hotel brands that I nod to ... Belmond and Four Seasons; primarily because there’s more of them in their portfolio and they proffer consistently high service. In fact, I think that when Four Seasons hires staff, a condition of employment must be that the word “no” is to be stricken from their vocabulary whilst on duty.

Any noise problems noted in your room, i.e., car traffic noise, noise from any adjacent rooms, etc.?
I stayed in a veranda chamber, located inside the garden. I did not experience any noise problems and slept like a baby :-)
Why is the pool green?

The pool cabanas are completely out of touch. Doesn’t blend with the history of the property. Grey straight lines are too modern.
Why does the pool appear "algae green" in the majority of the shots and, then "treated blue" in other shots? Yes, I also overstand the pool is tiled in an array of 'green' colourways; hence would lend for the green appearance. But, why is it also blue??????!!!!!

5 star luxury resort and they use Kia, which is a quite average car brand. Mercedes-Benz S class would be more appropriate.

@@roadweary5252 it supposed to be a luxury limo, not a cheap Korean car. Big modern engines have very similar fuel consumption like these cheap Korean cars...

the Luxury Travel Expert Apologies - I love your videos and have been watching for just over a year and I think they are excellent - my only gripe’s been the length of some. I think you may attract more subscribers with videos in the 10 to 20 min range due to people’s time constraints. Even if you just post a summary version of each video I think that would be tremendously helpful.
No need to apologize, John :-). I realize my Soneva clips were quiet long indeed (but that's because the multi-bedroom villas are so massive in space). Remarkably, my longer hotel clips (longer than 45 minutes) are more popular than the shorter ones. Anyway, I try to make most hotel clips around 30 minutes to give a detailed tour of the property (and to make one dream he or she is traveling along with me). I have thought about posting a 'teaser' on Wednesday for each hotel clip I post on Saturday, but have not materialized that idea yet. I do realize that I could attract much more subscriber by making my clips shorter or by showing myself, but I prefer quality above quantity since this is just a (highly enjoyable) hobby :-)
