My chaotic theory is that the ad was approved precisely because it was misleading. They knew it would catch fire and that it would go viral, and with that making thousands of sales from people trying to review it and boost their engagement. Bad publicity is good publicity if it translate to more sales.

I agree with the comment about it being unrealistic to ask consumers to mix shades. Westman Atelier at some point was marketing to purchase multiple sticks to get your perfect shade, which was wild to me for a luxury product
Would you consider doing a full face with the Makeup Forever face palette? Like if you took nothing else on holidays for complexion would it cover all the bases
Technically you *could do that, but realistically, I never would. I love makeup too much to only bring one product. Maybe it would work if I were going to a rural place and could only carry a tiny bag, but that is not in my future at the moment lol. It's a good product but not very practical for me.

On the subject of using brushes more and upgrading techniques, would you be open to trying the brush brand Rose & Ben? I tried the two brushes Rose uses constantly in her tutorials (the C41 and C31) and the shapes are so unique that they legit are making me, a forever sponge person, start to become a brush girl 🫣

You are 100% correct on the L’Oreal fiasco mascara AD.
At some point there were multiple people at the company who said hey, we rather shell out the $400,000 FTC fine and make $4 million (numbers totally made up to illustrate a point).
I think it's clear that no one feels concerned about the FTC. I forgot to mention that Mikayla barely disclosed that it was even an ad

The MF palette looks really good! It even has a green toned corrector. That's impressive. The absolutely most amazing mascara I've bought lately is Elf's Lash n Roll. It's fantastic, not too wet, not heavy, gives a nice natural long and fluttery look and cost $6.00. The L'Oreal mascara I swear has been around for years and years. Unless it's reformulated or something. I would love to see the Violette paint in the Poison color. It looks gorgeous!

I recently ordered the ami Cole lip product in the brown shade. I am so excited for it to arrive!
I just ordered bliss because I loved the formula so much!
Im interested the makeup forever palette, but the price is out of my range for me right now, plus I’ll never use all that product. Maybe if they come out with a smaller version. I have salt New York blushes and a bronzer and highlighter and they are similar. They look wet when you first apply, but they do dry down. They are nice. The Charlotte ones look nice but I’m never going to pay 42 bucks for one blush.

I’m a c2.5 in fit glow also! and used the 1.5 for Saie and found that it works really well!
Ugh I tried it at Sephora and it was SO yellow under my eyes. Might be because Fitglow c2.5 is actually a hair yellow for me too, but I don’t mind it

I have the same problem with the CT blush. I alway top it with Em Cosmetics venetian rose powder blush and it looks amazing.

Hey Kait how about dipping into kbeauty makeup? Dr. Dray mentioned that she only uses kbeauty eyebrow pencils and that it’s much better than brands at Sephora. What I’m really interested is eyeshadow sticks. I’m usually running late in the mornings and noticed I now only reach for stick shadows, stick blush, and lip pencils and then top it off with Fitglow gloss or Tower28 gloss.
I don’t love eyeshadow crayons but I am interested in crying more kbeauty! Let me know if there are any brands you want me to try
@@StateofKait Ok my teen hates eyeshadow sticks too. I’m Asian but she’s half Asian/White so she told me that she can’t use the sticks due to not being able to blend. I don’t have the type of eyelids that need any blending, so 1-2 swipes and I’m done. She tried it and it did look bad but given what you said maybe it’s better for my type of eyelids. ❤
I’m so excited for the Tower 28 bc it was originally launched in a lip kit at Sephora over a year ago and it’s been one of my favorite colors and formulas since. However, it wasn’t released on Sephora or Towers website until now! I’m sure there are other similar formulas, but something about it is so good!
They reformulated itself! It’s totally different from the one in the lip kit - much thinner

Regarding the mascara & the influencer that added the false lashes or inserts - can't think of brand, but in ad campaigns, they note at bottom, "lash inserts used." Ok, as consumers how can we make a choice when "enhancements" are used with the product? I choose not to purchase that product! Thank you for your honest & wonderful reviews!

Thanks for the mascara review. I bought some Kaja Bentos and am very happy with the colors and quality. Will be perfect for travel. Always afraid my expensive palettes will be damaged. The Bentos are so portable, thus the name.

I've been having the same experience (*as the Bobbi brown lip you tried) with the new elf lip lacquer with the drying out my lips. It feels thicker & a little more tacky than a lip oil & looks beautiful on but as it wears off my lips feel super dehydrated 😭
The bold liquid shadow on you looked amazeballs!! Wow--does that color make your eye color pop! 🤩 So that is a big YES to bold colors...or maybe just more of that kind of shade. Incredible!
Also, a thought about that BB lip serum: if you were soaking in the tub (presumably hot), that automatically causes your skin to dehydrate and loose every speck of moisture. That could be the culprit and not the fault of the lip serum. Do keep us updated.

THIS is the L’Oréal telescopic mascara review we need! I have also abandoned using both sides of the comb. It’s a super weird mascara! 😅it takes way too long for me to apply because it’s either beautiful or looks clumpy af. Will not repurchase!

You know I didn’t think twice about Mikayla putting on the falsies, I thought maybe L’Oréal directed her to do that (like you said we’re used to seeing these in ads) until I saw comments of people genuinely inquiring about the product before she got called out. 🤦🏻♀️ I’m more off put by her response. If she really didn’t put lashes on, she probably could have just given her audience bts/ step by step how she got her results-I actually watched an mua, erinparsonsmakeup do a tutorial on how she achieves a falsie effect on set when she works these mascara ads. It would have been a good opportunity for both her and L’Oréal to redeem themselves but by next week this will be old news as both these brands continue to laugh their way into the bank. Even though it was shitty what Mikayla did in that ad, it doesn’t make me trust you or any of the creators that I follow any less. The people I follow are people that I see as being very authentic, personal, and nuanced. I’m not attracted to the super large, over the top, short-form creators, so their actions don’t really influence my perception of the people I do follow.

@@StateofKait I got that you knew it wasn't the same word, you just weren't sure how similarly they were pronounced, since the spelling is close. There is a video here on UA-cam by French Pronunciation Guide that has one then the other pronounced, so you can hear the difference.
The way I hear it, it's "pwa-zo(n)" for poison and "pwa-sso(n)" for fish
The twinkling yeux paint is stunning on you. I'd love to see the matte one on you too. I've seen both look amazing on brown, hazel and green eyes, and wasn't expecting such a beautiful look on blue eyes as well.

Mascara is subjective but... every single person I have seen reviewing this one gets No lift at all and super ultra mega clumpy lashes. It´s a hard pass for me.

Honestly, this mascara and the influencer have gotten so much press through this debacle that it has been good for both brands I’m sure. I hear you about integrity and that’s why we watch you. But I didn’t know about this mascara or that influencer before this and now they are both on my radar in a big way. Won’t be buying or following cause I’m not interested in either. But I bet this has boosted sales and followers :/

I SO think L’Oréal has a lot to answer for with this mascara debacle. They’re not 100% responsible, but like you said there were many people along the path of approving that ad who could have put a stop to it. Tbh I’m beginning to think it was all a money making stunt. Because what has this triggered? More reviews and purchases of this mascara than probably any other lately, simply because now everyone is either curious for themself or wants to do a genuine review for others. So like… L’Oréal is cashing in BIG from all of this and that makes me pretty annoyed. At this point, regardless of her feelings about the whole thing, I bet mikayla is contractually obligated to keep her mouth shut, unable to address the issue at all. I like her and will continue to follow because 99% of the time I do actually find her to be super genuine but I’ll admit this has put a not great taste in my mouth. 🫤
