Love that you set the parameters of the exercise beforehand. Whenever I'm bored I compile best of lists with different parameters, college only, nfl only, potential only, etc. With your all around/overall parameters you set, I agree that Edge is the GOAT.

Anderson was well on his way to one of the best RBs of the 80s before an injury and who know what Bratton might have been. I also think Foreman got injured midway thru his NFL career. Damned injuries.

Even at 35 and well past his prime, he was dominant in Super Bowl XXV.

Before Frank Gore got hurt he was the best I’ve ever seen. That spring game he was insane but my 2 favorite backs were E James and Willis

This is a great Debate. A lot of great RB’s. All time leader is Duke Johnson. Willis Mcgahee had the best individual season. Edge had a great UM career and is a HOF, Gore was thought to be the most talented, ended up 3rd all time in the NFL despite the injuries. Portis was the starter on the best team all time and leader of that group which included Gore. There are others that are great but Edge has the best overall resume. Gore was the most talented at his peak.

The most talented is between mcgahee and najee Davenport. Both of them guys was 220lbs plus with 4.2 & 4.3 speed. That's a rare combination of size & speed

@@Tone22845 Mcgahee ran 4.28. Pre injury, Davenport ran 4.34 he claimed but times 4.57 at the combine, and his play style was more straight ahead.

@@hassanrasheid4618 davenport had a fatal knee injury against Ohio state. The same team coincidencely mcgahee hurt his knee against. After that injury davenport was moved to fullback. Going into that 99 season the combination of james jackson & davenport at RB was going to be 1 of the best RB tandems in the league & had miami as a possible championship contender until he suffered that injury.

Magahee is the only RB in UM history that was in NYC for the Heisman as a finalist. Enough said!

Running backs in the 70-80 & op”s were better than any running backs of now ever

I think old-school football bred a toughness in RBs you don’t see as much today.
Also back in the day, you had so many big RBs with quick feet like Ottis, Fred Taylor, Corey Dillon, Edge and so many others. These days, most RBs are strictly bruisers and relatively stiff.

Najee Davenport would've been 1 of the best of all time at UM if he didn't have that knee injury against Ohio State. He was 230lbs with 4.3 speed
