I'm sorry for forgetting to include a step for Windows. I unfortunately don't have a windows computer to test but RTP loopMIDI or MIDI OX Utility are recommended. I hope it works!!
@@SoundSimulator I have loopMidi working on windows and PD let's me use it for midi input but then the patch does not take the data, tho loopmidi has the values and PD has loopmidi showing up in the midi options. I will checkout the guide you recommended.
I don't have a keyboard, or midi controller hardware, so I had to install LoopMIDI. It serves as a virtual midi connection between different softwares on Windows. Great for anyone that doesn't have a midi device.
first of thank you so much for this video series, i'm a big nooby/newbie and this is so helpful and inspiring :D I just wanted to know if there was a way to achieve the same result using plugdata, as the midi output settings are missing, but maybe there's a way to do without it as plugdata runs inside the daw ? This might be a dumb question and i'm sorry if it makes you waste your time answering it, i'm already so grateful for your videos being out there :D
Sorry for the delay in response! I think there should be a way to output MIDI with plugdata that's being used as a VST. Would be a good topic to search/ask the plugdata server!
@@SoundSimulator please don't apologize i'm already so glad you took the time to respond ! as for the issue i quickly realized it seems quite easily doable using the "param" fonction stated in the automation parameters tab on the right (icon with the sliders thingies) so yeah it seems pretty straight forward, but i'm still having issues tweaking this slider live, it seems to only work while "recording" so yeah sorry for this mambojambo, i'll find the courage to ask the community at some point... thanks again for your videos :D
Question! If I wanted to feed MIDI data from my DAW into my PD project, would I just use notein 1? My MIDI settings are set to IAC Driver for both input and output but I can't seem to get a signal through.
Honestly, I made this video before plugdata came out so I would try something with that. Their Discord is awesome by the way!! Sorry I don't have an answer at the top of my head.
this is awesome, just one question though, any idea how this'd work via bitwig? im on win10. was messing with loopMIDI but unsure as how to route the two together
I think loopMIDI should work with bitwig but I'm not 100% sure. I unfortunately don't have either bitwig nor windows. Have you looked at the quick guide on Dialog Audio's website?
That's a great question that I actually don't know the answer to! I think [ctlout] object will do the trick. Searching the Pure Data forum and using the keyword "CC" and "ctlout" should yield good results! I'll most likely make a video on that soon!
The only step that should be different is how the virtual midi is set up. There is an app called loopMIDI and you can also take a look at a quick guide on dialog audio's website. And cakewalk should be able to receive the MIDI data after installing and setting up loopMIDI. I hope it works! If it doesn't, please let me know.
@@SoundSimulator many thanks for your answer. Exact. I've already tested loopmidi once in another context, but I never think to use it for link pure data with cakewalk. I will do some tests in these coming days and I will do a feedback here. Thanks man, you are inspiring us.
Niceeeee :D, in Windows I assume we need a virtual midi cable, the rest of the steps are the same? Thanks in advance :D

@@georgemartinez1334 You're welcome, George! dialog audio's website has a nice quick guide for loopMIDI by the way!

@@SoundSimulator got it working! Now I have ableton and Pure Data connected to my modular synthesizer!
Now I feel dumb knowing this was that easy. Love your Channel! Keep it up
Thank you so much for your support, Santiago!!
I didn't know that it was this simple either! I would've included in the generative ambient tutorial.

how to convert this synthesizer created in Pure Data to VST3 format? (in Windows 10)

i havent looked deeply into the guide but i shall! still not really sure what im doing incorrectly but maybe that'll help me figure it out :)

hey i have a question, how do you use pure data to control particular knobs in filters and or or fx using pure data?

did you ever end up finding much info on this? I'm looking to control the attack and release for Logics Alchemy synth from pure data
Please, can you make the same kind of tutorial for pure data in windows 10 and cakewalk ? (now cakewalk from bandlab is totally free)
