- My love affair with the classic old Jarvis Walker rods continues, this time it is a neglected old Black Queen tussling with a chunky Swan River tailor!
Hope you enjoy the video and as always, tight lines!

Now that's a bloody nice tailor out of the river. Can't beat the classics - another great vid mate 🎣💪
Cheers Paz, it was great fun to put the old rod through its paces on a decent fish! It will definitely see more use at some stage!
Solid tailor for the river 👌. Love your work mate 👏👏👏
Cheers Darryl, much appreciated.
Nice Tailor mate 👌🎣
Cheers mate!
Great ep mate! Love the classic JWs
Cheers Scotty, glad you enjoyed it!
Nice water conditions mate, as long as the rod still bends and catches fish, its the best rod in the world. Nice one mate.
For sure Chris, cheers mate!
Great Tailor for the Swan Andy. Great video too. What a stunning morning! Love the old rod. I started out with split cane, then along came solid fibre glass, then hollow glass and now we have hi tech carbon fibres and kevlars, etc. Hollow glass was the real big leap forward in my opinion. I still have a Kiwi Killwell 12 ft 2 pc surfcaster, hollow glass with chrome steel ferrules at the joint and has caught many fish. Still has a great action, but the rings are metal and not even ceramic lined, no good for braid. I may put new rings on it after watching your vid and give it an outing. Thanks for posting.
Cheers Mike, glad you enjoyed the vid. I would love the see your old surf rod in a vid...would mono be more forgiving on the old guides? Cheers again.
@@paddlefisher Yep you're on the money. It was designed for mono and the guides do polish up well. Might give it a go down at the beach with mono. How did that Tailor taste mate ? Always thought 40 - 45 is the idea size for eating.
It was fantastic mate, I actually got a larger one at the beach later that evening, so I was stuffed to the gills with Tailor there for a while!
Just one negative aspect of this video Andy and it’s my fault. Every time you said Jarvis Walker my idiot brain heard Dumas Walker and I started singing that old song by the Kentucky Head Hunters. 🤣🤣
Congrats on the Swan River PB, keep up the good work! 👍🤙
Happy to inspire a trip down musical memory lane mate, glad you enjoyed the vid! 🎸🎸😁😁
41cm Tailor on the Swan is a fish to catch. Nice way to christen the rod and Revo 11, looks like you are getting used to the Revo. Did you get the seat fixed up with the broken strap?
Cheers mate, getting more and more comfortable with the revo now. I have done a repair to the seat so might not have to replace it for a while...time will tell!
Where did you launch mate, looks like easy launch
Melville Beach Rd.
How are you liking the new yak compared to the outback? also, where do you recommend launching a yak thats trailer friendly to squid at woodman point? cheers
The new yak is much easier to load, unload and launch which is a huge plus for me....not quite as comfortable as it is a bit wet on anything other than flat water. There is trailer parking opposite the first little carpark before the groin, but be early.
