Gutted for you there Andy. But you did everything right. You let it run and stay deep and not horse it in, otherwise it would have probably jumped about and probably thrown the hook anyway. Sometimes they just get away. Funnily enough I was checking my records and I also hooked and lost a large Tailor at that exact spot this time last year. I'm just waiting for a break in the weather and will be out in the lower reaches later this week. Once again you've inspired me to get my arse into gear. Great video and looking forward to the next one.
Cheers Mike, the error I made was when I back paddled the kayak, I allowed the line to slacken off briefly....probably enough to lose it later near the kayak. Cheers again!
Bummer! so close to landing that massive tailor! Still great being out there mate, not many people get to watch the beauty of the sun rising, to me, that's one of the most special part of this hobby. Cheers for sharing Andy! 👌
Unfortunate, Andy! Love the chatter and scream of the old reels though, and one fish is better than no fish! Got to say the winter tailor fishing in the river's been quite good this year 👍
Great local videos thanks! What kayak are you paddling and how do you rate it? I am in the process of replacing a heavy old revo 13 for something lighter and simpler to use around Woodman pt and the river, got any thoughts/recomendations? Cheers Shaun
Great thanks, I found the hobie a great way to cruise over water but the pedals robbed a lot of the working space for fishing etc, and more stuff to organise for a quick fishing adventure. I like the individual style of your videos, thanks for the rapid reply. Looking at a newish Tarpon 120 $600. Cheers Shaun

Cheers Paz, gotta love the old reels! Hope you have been able to get out and chase a few tailor on the river.
bro so devastated for you with the first one spitting i agree that had to be a 50 model easily
Cheers mate, I was gutted to drop that one, but there is always next time!
Losing it right next to the boat is enough to make you say bad words!🤣
One or two bad words might have slipped out mate....
I felt your pain on that one!
It hurt, that's for sure.
Mate, I enjoyed this one just as much as Salty's. 👍
Cheers mate, much appreciated.
I felt the "oh no" mate, nice fight though. Good job mate.
Cheers Chris, hopefully I stay connected to it next time!
Devastating for sure.. 50 is huge, how many 50's have you landed?
Nvm I just heard you say Pb is 41
Would have been a nice upgrade, for sure. Cheers cobber!

Gday mate, I am paddling a Tarpon 120 in this video, great boat, cheaper than Hobies and hugely underrated in my opinion. Cheers mate!

It was hard to take, that's for sure. Cheers mate.

I sure hope so!
That's devo mate she was a whopper
For sure mate, it was hard to take.
Whats the best tide to fish the bridge?
I like to fish a rising tide, but change of light (dawn/dusk) is a great time for tailor as well.
Your drag was loose
Thanks.
was thinking that
not sure if that old egg beater could have handled anymore drag
