I can tell all of you. Late one night about 3 years ago, an ear splitting alarm went off in our home. Woke up everyone in every room. Checked the security alarm system and it was in the 'stay' mode, which is normal at night. The alarm was so loud, it was hard to determine from which direction it was coming. After 20 minutes, we found it behind a mirrored dresser in the bedroom we were sleeping in. You see it was a CO alarm, that I'd totally forgotten about and it had been plugged in for more than 6+ years, silently monitoring the place. Was it a false alarm, no! It seemed the furnace on the 'other side' of the house decided to die while we were sleeping and started leaking CO into the home. As my mother said, we would have 'woken up dead', if not for that device. We weren't groggy, but immediately vented the place until the fire department came to check. That detector caught the CO at a low level. We now have three CO detectors, with one directly attached to the door of the new furnace.
TheLifetraveler1 which one did you have? My biggest worry is not waking up to the alarms (I am heavy sleeper and dont wake up on phone calls, normal alarms...etc)
Some things just shouldn't be cheaped out on, like smoke/CO alarms and automotive tires. People also don't replace their alarms regularly (every 10 years). A home I bought still had 17-year old original alarms. Replaced them all with First Alert models.
They are all probably the same exact detector that they like to put out under many different names. If one gets name gets taken down, they just use another.
I can confirm the china one go off quicker than a branded one. Nuisance alarm isn't a problem because properly installed appliances don't produce much/any CO.
Ok , 0k , no need to "go off" on me for pedestrian vernacular. Btw~✓ I have co & smoke detectors from the previous century that "go off" fine. So why are peddlers of same saying , "buy new ones every five years?" Carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air. Ps. "Its not a vaccine" ----------Hank Aaron

What brand did you use?
I want to see comparisons between effectiveness of First Alert and other brand names.

Nice work guys! Keep being great.
They are back in Amazon, heck they're a sponsor item.
I’m glad they’re both making up for their mistakes
You mentioned UL tested but the one you showed was ETL tested.
Buy US made only! Good luck trying to find one.
WHY WOULD ANYONE BUY AN OFF BRAND DETECTOR??
holy crap!
In my house we have first alert SC7010BVA smoke and CO alarms and a first alert flammable gas and CO alarm
shouldn't be cheaping out on items like this 🤔
According to the site the 2 alarms recommended here are placed differently. The second one is number 1, and the first is 3rd.
Why is this?
Retailers shouldn’t be selling these alarms, this is just wrong.
They are all probably the same exact detector that they like to put out under many different names. If one gets name gets taken down, they just use another.
Okay so an advertisement for First Alert.
Didn’t you hear what they said ?
These 3 failed to work.
hell i want one goes off quick no use to go off when im brain dead

so basically they are a lion repeller
Please try not to use the illogical term "go off." Say "sounded" or "failed to sound."
