Hi Gavin Great video as always, but my problem with using Fly on a Samsung Galaxy A71 is that later versions of Fly seem to always crash within around 10 minutes of taking off, I've no problem with actually installing them, running Android 11. The initial solution was to roll back to v1.4.2 which works fine, but a better solution came along when Litchi (Beta only to start with) became availabale for the Mini 2. I've more recently bought an Air 2S and after the first two flights with Fly (1.4.2!) I've changed over to Litchi. There is a gimble control warning for the Air 2S when it starts (due to a fault in the DJI SDK) but I've had no problems so far in actually controlling the gimble, including shooting 360 panoramas where the app is controlling it. As before with the Mini 2, there were no warnings when buying the Air 2S that DJIs Fly app would only work on certain phones, DJIs response to the problem when I contacted them was a totally unsatisfactory 'you need to buy a new phone'. According to the aircraft Flight Manuals for both Mini 2 and Air 2S the only requirment for using Fly is Android v6.0 and later, which patently isn't true.

Excellent useful info Gavin, as we've come to expect from you. I'm still on V1.4.4 of 'DJI Fly' as I want to stick with a version that works for me on my Samsung Galaxy A71 using Android 11. Needless to say I've made sure I've saved this video from you for the time I change phones and move on to Android 12. Thanks Gavin.
Hi Graham. I am struggling with getting the app to install on my A71. Seeing your comment makes me believe that it might be the latest version of the app that is not compatible with my android version. But this doesn't make sense because I got it to install on my older LG V30 with adroid version 9... Did you ever try the latest version on your A71? If not then I will try the older version like you have installed.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker Hi 'WCMB', I've not been given the option to install Android 12, if that's what you mean by the latest version. If however, you mean the latest version of DJI Fly App, after reading through a lot of comments on the plus and minus points of versions after 1.4.4, I decided to stick with 1.4.4 as it works fine for me, and there is nothing in later versions that inspires me to upgrade, as I get the impression it's a case of 1 step forward and 2 steps back, if you get my drift 😉. I'm also 2 versions behind on the Mini 2 firmware..I think...but I need to check on that, but it will be few days before I get a chance to.
@@grahambutler5847 yes. I'm referring to the dji app version. My Samsung Galaxy A71 is running Android 11. What I did was, I went to the dji download site and downloaded the version they have available which is the latest one. 300 odd megabytes. At first I just opened the apk file and it asked if I wanted to install the app where I accepted. Then was taken to a permissions page to grant permission then I installed. The instalation did not even try to run at first. I thought to switch the phone off and back on again. Doing so I went to the downloaded apk and opened it where they asked if I want to install where I accepted but then no permission page. Then the installation ran. It came to about three quarters of they way where I noticed the cancel button faded out, like its now too late to cancel the installation. And the installation bar freezed for a few seconds. Then a message appeared telling met that the app was not installed. Then looking on UA-cam found this video and tried this method of a separate apk installer. Which did exactly the same with the installation. Then after reading your comment I tried the same version you have... the 1.4.4. But it also did the same. But to give you another bit of information I used my old LG V30 phone to try and see if it would work and it worked fine with the latest version. Without getting a separate apk installer. And the LG is running Android 9. So I am not sure where my issue lies. I can use the other older phone. But this will just add to the effort I have to put in to go out. Having another phone charged and ready to go as the A71 is my daily driver. But I should maybe email dji personally and get their side of the story.
March 2023; I went to DJI Download Page via Chrome (on both a Galaxy S23Plus - Android 13, and Galaxy Tab A - Android 11,) selected DJI Go 4, and was presented with "Download APK" which I selected. I clicked through the Chrome security warning, and the app downloaded without issue. The DJI Go 4 app loaded right up and connected with my Mavic Pro. BRILLIANT THANK YOU!!!
FANTASTIC. Hadn't use my mavic pro2 for a few months, try to fly and app wouldn't load. Quick search, found your vid, downloaded your patch and away we went. Love you.
If anyone has an issue with the APK installer recommended in the video. after selecting install dji fly . and you get a message saying " file viewer cannot display this file format" you have to either update your file viewer app. or change what your phone automatically opens to view files. I hope this helps anyone that's stuck. this video helped me out alot
I can't say 'thank you!' enough. I recently purchased a mini se after my spark crashed in turbulent winds. Later today I'll see if it flies, but that'll not be a problem anymore !!! A HUGE THANK you to you !! ********** Update 2 days later after getting app to work.... To be clear.. this is NOT Gavin's fault, but DJI !!! With Gavin's great instruction i got the app to work. HOWEVER, the moment i connected my drone and started app, it quit immediately every time!! In other words...unfittunately have not been able to fly drone on DJI Go 4 or DJI Fly. I had to go and use Litchi, but therefor could not mske 360' pictures. As alternative i also sent my APK for DJI GO 4 from old oppo mobile where app worked. However, this DJI Go 4 app does not eorkeith newest Samsung A53 software. @Gavin: any recommendations ?

Exactly what I needed, I sold my s10+ and I wasn't aware fly app won't work with my s22 ultra, I was already looking for something new to buy that will work, now I don't need it. Works perfectly fine, thank You once again :)
Awesome, I updated my Samsung phone yesterday and the DJI app stopped working. Ended up using an old phone that had DJI on it. Followed your video just now and it works perfect on my Samsung again. 🤟😁
I just invested in an MA2 and was kinda disappointed that the Fly app might not work with my “older” Samsung Tab A. Rather than try to make it work, I went ahead and started some research as to what smaller, less expensive, tablet would work for me. I decided on the Samsung Tab A7 Lite. I found somewhere on the web that people were getting that to work. The size and price was right and also appeared it had the “minimal” requirements for the app. Now, I haven’t actually used the set up yet BUT, this video REALLY helped me out. !! The app loaded and “looks” like it should work. Time will tell I guess. Thanks SO much for this info.
Tried getting info from a Facebook group with no luck. So glad I found this video! It got me up and running on my phone and now I can continue trying to get the rest of everything set up! Thank you and I most definitely subscribed!

Thank you. Had a documentary to go shoot tomorrow with the Mini and the app wouldn't open. I freaked out an went to UA-cam to see if something had happened and yours was the first video. We appreciate people like you. 👍
Thank You Sir very much. I went out and bought the top of the line Samsung S22 Ultra which was a 1000 dollar phone so I could fly attached to a great smart phone with a very bright screen, just to get home and find it wasn't compatible with my Air 2 and Mini 2. But following your instructions here worked perfectly! Subscribed. Well done and again Thank you. It passed the take off and hover test. It also passed the video feed test. Going out now to give it a full test. I'll let you know the results.

Hi Gavin - After several days of trying to fix my DJI Fly app with ZERO success, I was able to get back flying after installing DJI FLY APP 1.6.12, which you so graciously provided on your Google Drive share. Thank you SO much!! What I find most interesting is that DJI FLY APP 1.6.12 is not available on the DJI website. The latest version available there is DJI FLY APP 1.6.9. Why is that?? LOL Thanks again man!
Greetings from Philippines 🇵🇭 Thank you so much! Thought my drone was broke! Just followed your tutorial and voila! I finally fly my drone again! Thank ypu so much Sir Gavin! Salute!
Dude. Can I marry you? I haven't flown in a couple of years. Went to open the app and boooom. I wanted to cry! This video definitely is a life saver!!!!
Holy crap man, thanks so much for such a simple fix!! Had a Samsung S20FE for over a year now and can finally fly my freakin Mavic with it! Super good easy, quick, fix, thanks so much! Only thing I'd make sure people know is that you have to use an actual browser (eg. Chrome) on your phone and not just the 'Google' button to search and access the DJI Download Center. If you just use the Google button to search for the DJI Download Center and then try to download the apk from there, it won't actually download to your phone. If you use a browser it works exactly as you said with no issue. Cheers!
Took the Mini 2 out on a long range flight. Not even one flicker on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Performed perfectly. Phone didn't even get hot and the video was perfect. So cheers. I'll be testing it on a Mavic Air one next. using GO 4 app. I'll let you know.
This video helped me out a ton!!! After fighting for 5 hrs with this drone, I found this video, done exactly what he said, and everything works now. Thank you for helping me

So initially I checked my Lg G8 device with Aida64 device specs check and indeed my phone is supposed to be up to snuff and powerful enough according to the spec's to run. With the Arm processor etc 64bit etc etc for operating the DJI fly app.. However.. I tried with a apk installer and without just using my files app, cannot get it to download. Upsetting but fortunately my saving grace,I have a gigantic Samsung Galaxy s6 on Android 12 so I'm going to try that and see. Ideally I want the phone, the whole idea of the mini 2 is compact and easy which a 10"+ tablet honking out of my back pocket to fly the thing isn't ideal but at least I don't have to cancel the mini 2 I just ordered. Your process did allow the tablet to finally work with the app, I can't say thank you enough. Thanks so much for your help, really easy and thorough, GOD bless.
Works as been said. Also with the newer 1.6.x version. Samsung M32 (for affordable screen brightness) I don't trust my iPhone 12 pro max anymore with drone. The screen just goes off when the phone overheats. That's why I bought the eco Samsung.
It's great. My friend just tested it, although I just saw a video saying it's probably not wise to fly it in the UK, but I thought I would keep you updated 😁👍👌🇬🇧

two years i bought the DJI Mini, but... my Samsung could not use the DJI Fly app :( so there was a good alternative, Rainbow, works perfectly. Now i have the Minis 2SE, but Rainbow dont support this one. And now of a sudden, my Samsung can have the dji app... and downloaded it, like a miracle. I always saw on the DJI site, the compatible phones, and always wonder why only so few compatible Samsung mobiles were on the list, realy ... unbelievelable in 2024 also. And also a good video this one
I had issues with the APK installer it said problems parsing the package, I then went to download your file and had the same message, that alerted me to the fact that the file hadnt completed the download on my slow connection so you might want to say that in the APK installer the file saize should read 395 Mb before you try to install. That done all works thank you :)

Thank you so much for this video! You made it quick and easy to get us back in the air!
Very welcome!
FANTASTIC. Hadn't use my mavic pro2 for a few months, try to fly and app wouldn't load. Quick search, found your vid, downloaded your patch and away we went. Love you.
Just so everyone knows. As of Sept 4 2024, it's update 1.131
Thank you so much, you solved a great headache 🙏
I can't say 'thank you!' enough. I recently purchased a mini se after my spark crashed in turbulent winds. I'm an android user who enjoys drone footage and I was upset to not be able to fly after I couldn't access the app. This video has restored my faith in humanity after I was able to download the apk and access the dji fly app. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Glad I could help!
Well....if there are heroes on this planet ...
YOU are DEFINATELY ONE of them !!!
Mavic Pro and just bought myself ESPECIALLY for memory (1,25 TB) a Samsung A53G 512GB for droning and other things and EXACTLY this "bug issue" happened !!
I've been working on this for 2 hours until I saw you video (and COMPLIMENTS on the clarity & visuals !!)
I followed your steps and it's 5:15AM now....BUT ..... my DJI GO 4- app has started !!!!
Later today I'll see if it flies, but that'll not be a problem anymore !!!
A HUGE THANK you to you !!
**********
Update 2 days later after getting app to work....
@Gavin: any recommendations ?
I can not thank you enough! It's unacceptable that it does not work on android after such a purchase. My friend, DJI owes you a lot 4 helping newbies such as us! Subbed!
You're welcome ☺️
Exactly what I needed, I sold my s10+ and I wasn't aware fly app won't work with my s22 ultra, I was already looking for something new to buy that will work, now I don't need it. Works perfectly fine, thank You once again :)
Happy flying!
Awesome, I updated my Samsung phone yesterday and the DJI app stopped working. Ended up using an old phone that had DJI on it.
Followed your video just now and it works perfect on my Samsung again.
🤟😁
Having other versions of the APK in your Google Drive saved the day. Thank you very much for your video.
Very welcome!
Got the s22 ultra and was stuck. This worked perfectly with no hassle or fuss. Great video, liked and subbed for this!!
Tried getting info from a Facebook group with no luck. So glad I found this video! It got me up and running on my phone and now I can continue trying to get the rest of everything set up! Thank you and I most definitely subscribed!
Sir you just don't know! I was about to sell my MP2 after not flying for about 4 months. You just made me smile soooo hard. Instructions were easy and worked like a charm. I'll get my 1st flight in tomorrow. Thank you!
You're welcome! Happy flying
Didn't even unpack my drone yet, couldn't get past the install.
Subscribed immediately after watching your video.
Appreciate u
Very welcome!
Awesome almost been a year since I played with my Mavic mini gone through 2 phones and lost my drone. I found it and could fly and came across your channel awesome work!
Omg thank you so much I thought my drone would just be useless. I used the first way to do it and it worked literally flawlessly.
Brilliant news ! Happy flying
@@GAVINHR I will thank you so much
Thank you. Had a documentary to go shoot tomorrow with the Mini and the app wouldn't open. I freaked out an went to UA-cam to see if something had happened and yours was the first video. We appreciate people like you. 👍
You're very welcome! Hope it went well
Thank You Sir very much.
Brilliant news! Happy flying 😊
freakin awesome!!!..I haven't launched nor flown my mavic mini in a year and tried to open the app on my Galaxy S20+ Ultra and it wouldn't. Tried uninstall, reinstall, install from Galaxy store and was unsuccessful. this video helped greatly...thank you very much!!
Hi Gavin -
After several days of trying to fix my DJI Fly app with ZERO success, I was able to get back flying after installing DJI FLY APP 1.6.12, which you so graciously provided on your Google Drive share. Thank you SO much!!
What I find most interesting is that DJI FLY APP 1.6.12 is not available on the DJI website. The latest version available there is DJI FLY APP 1.6.9. Why is that?? LOL
Thanks again man!
What is even more interesting is the graphic on the DJI website shows 1.6.8!
@@GAVINHR Eggzackly! HAHA 😂
Greetings from Philippines 🇵🇭
Thank you so much! Thought my drone was broke!
Just followed your tutorial and voila! I finally fly my drone again! Thank ypu so much Sir Gavin! Salute!
Bought a Samsung s22 and haven't been able to fly sense,,ugh. But with your instructions I'm a happy pilot again! Thanks.
Dude. Can I marry you? I haven't flown in a couple of years. Went to open the app and boooom. I wanted to cry! This video definitely is a life saver!!!!
You’re very welcome !
Pleased to hear it !
This video helped me out a ton!!! After fighting for 5 hrs with this drone, I found this video, done exactly what he said, and everything works now. Thank you for helping me
You’re welcome! Happy flying
I live in the Caribbean and this video got me flying my mavic 2 zoom again. Brilliant stuff.
Thanks for this. I just got a Galaxy S22 today and couldn't install the GO4 app. Now it's installed and working. :)
Thankyou so much for doing what Dji can't seem to do. I downloaded the go4 app from your link and it works perfectly on my galaxy s10+.
Thanks again you got me flying again
Under rated gentleman right here he deserves the best life and millions of views thank you !
Fantastic advice, problem solved in 5 minutes, DJI should pay per view for this advice.
bless you. may you get all the green lights while driving. may no one ever cut you off on the road. may your pillow always be cool. may all the good things happen to you
Works 100%
Thank you so much. The fact that the company hasn't resolved this (or found a more obvious way of finding the solution) is beyond me. But thank you
Thank you so much, I moved to android and was looking for ways to install dji fly. this was super helpful thank you so much 😊
You saved my day. Needed my Mavic for a big job tomorrow
This guy here explaining this fix with the apk installer is a genius, my dji go 4 works after I follow his step by step instructions, thank you my friend it's up and running.
I have subscribed my friend, you are very helpful.your like the mad scientist ha ha 😂 🤣and superb instructor on how to install things for Dji apps, and information as well
And information as well
Thank you very much and I'm glad you are flying!
Thanks for this. I got an S22 a couple days ago, went to install the app on my phone and it wouldn't do it. A giant bummer they made it such a pain to figure out. But glad once figured out, it's an easy fix. Really appreciate this video.
I have the same phone, having a hard time figuring it out. You have links to help. Thanks in advance
It's not working. I followed the instructions precisely using my S20. Same APK Downloader. Trying to install DJI GO for the Phantom 3. After app download it simply continues to fail to open and a prompt shows up saying the app has a bug. Any further advice?
Gavin. You are a saviour. I have been losing the will to live trying to get my Spark up in the air and now flying again so great work on this video.
Ive been so frustrated with my connectivity of app and drone. Ive missed so many shooting opportunities of some beautiful places with these damn bugged updates. But your site is a blessing! Thank you much love ❤️
😲 OMG! I'm back! Thank you so much. You don't understand how frustrating this was.
I went to D.R. and couldn't fly. I was so upset with DJI.
Thank you, Thank you.
You're welcome 😁
Hey, I followed these steps for my Google pixel 6 pro and got as far as opening the app but instantly closed. Do you know why? Thanks for the information
Same
@@suadhalilovic1501 dude something is up with Google. I ended up having to get litchi fly app. Which is honestly better. I tried on Android and and the beta android 13 in and out of development mode and nothing.
You saved my dji adventures with this trick. That's so much
Here I was about to stick my drone in the closet for my trip to South Carolina's coast. Thank you so much for saving the day!
Hey did I miss you mention how you got the dji go 4.0 app to work, I have a spark that's not supported with the dji app...
Thanks for that. It took me ages to get my batteries charged after not using my Mavic Pro for over a year & then the app wouldn't work. Thanks again!
Thanks Gavin, that's great & good news for an old guy flying an old drone. Keep up the good work, you are helping a lot of people out there to keep flying. Cheers
WOW...I followed you step by step and it worked....unbelievable...cheers mate!
I should have seen your video way before. It just saved my trip to Italy on my last day. Thank u😀
It's ok :) happy flying
Thank you so much, tried 100 different methods and this is the only one i have tried that has got it working! legend!
Happy to help :)
Like alot of people have already said. You are a legend!
Thank you 😊
Works as been said. Also with the newer 1.6.x version. Samsung M32 (for affordable screen brightness)
I don't trust my iPhone 12 pro max anymore with drone. The screen just goes off when the phone overheats. That's why I bought the eco Samsung.
If you need more topics. The reset and delete data options are available in an new update also for the mini 2.
It didn't just worked on Samsung, I tried it on my vivo phone also and it worked, thanks so much for the tip
Thank you. From the USA. I cannot believe that this item is so expensive and there are so many bugs to fix.
It's great. My friend just tested it, although I just saw a video saying it's probably not wise to fly it in the UK, but I thought I would keep you updated 😁👍👌🇬🇧
I think I know what that means! Haha
Hahaha you've changed this piece of junk into flying photo machine once again working making whole family happy thanks to its beautiful shots. So thankful you can't imagine. Thank you so much.
Haven't been able to fly until I found this video. Simply followed your easy instructions and Voila! I'm back in the air. Thanks from the Buckeye State, Shipmate!
Most welcome!
Just found your video and did this. Thank you so much! It worked perfect and your instruction was extremely easy to follow.
Wooooohooooo!!
Mate I was about to sell my drone.
Thank you for this
This fix is not working for my samsung s20.... do you know why?
I followed these directions to the letter, and I can't get the DJI GO4 app to work. Any suggestions?
two years i bought the DJI Mini, but... my Samsung could not use the DJI Fly app :(
so there was a good alternative, Rainbow, works perfectly.
Where do you get rainbow? I've a newer Samsung and just won't work
Great, haven't been able to use my mavic to get shots of job sites in months... until now. Greatly appreciated 🙏
I had issues with the APK installer it said problems parsing the package, I then went to download your file and had the same message, that alerted me to the fact that the file hadnt completed the download on my slow connection so you might want to say that in the APK installer the file saize should read 395 Mb before you try to install. That done all works thank you :)
Update latest DJI APK now 418.49 mb
Thanks alot for this video. I was getting super frustrated not being able to open the dji app. I was up and running in five minutes after watching this video
MERCIIIIII ! Je cherche une solution depuis 6 mois! Ca refonctionne ENFIN. The GOAT!
I can't thank you enough. I am getting ready to go out and film for a new video and the app wouldn't open. With your video I'm back up and flying. Wouldn't have been possible without you. Many thanks!
Happy to help! Happy flying
Thank you for sharing! Version 1.12.6 worked for my Samsung tablet A9 plus😊
It doesn't work. Even installing latest 1.6.9 version app doesn't open.
Sadly this is an issue after the latest android update
@@GAVINHR any solution? My dji fly worked for 4 days and after that doesnt open anymore. I tried apk installer you suggested, but there is no result, same as I install it directly from website and doesnt open the app. Tried to install some older versions from your link, but no effect.
Still comes up with parsing error on Samsung Tab 4
Thanks for this information! I had been on DJI's website and seen the updates, but I had never downloaded anything outside the Play Store so I passed on it. Thanks to your info my UAV is back in the air.
You're very welcome !
you are a life saver!!! I have a S 22 Ultra and it worked. There were two apk that showed up I just had to download the larger one but it worked!
You are awesome! You should get a medal.
I don't have a Samsung phone, I think the issue is the Android 12 OS like you mentioned. I have an oppo phone and the older version of fly app doesn't work. I wonder what's the earliest fly app you can install on android 12. And wow I just checked my dji fly app and apparently it forces you to update, you cannot use your current dji fly app without updating. What the heck..
Thank you so much for putting this video together and having the APK files on your Google Drive I was unable to get it to work directly from DJI but went to your website and managed to pull down in October file and it worked great much appreciated
I'm sure this video was well-meant, but we are now in 2024, with Android 14 and loads more new phones. Mines is a new Samsung A55 . I anticipate issues with it. I am about to check out all the recommendations, as well as other videos if available. Thanks for helping others in the past.
I have been mad about this for months, you are the man thank you. What version would I need for an S22 Ultra?
