If you observe the materials bay on the ground, it says "one of the test subjects seems to be judging you silently", I think this video explains what the game is referring to.
The funny thing is that this little guy is being seen, at least at two different points in the game. If you open up for the materials on the ground it says that "One of the materials is looking up at you with a judicial look." And out in space "The radiation is making some of the materials glow." It's possible not exactly what they are saying but it's something along the line. Now, let's go to the Mun with him. :)
Well they released something into the wild that kinda reproduced and learned how to be invisible and fly into space. I gotta find a way to put them into extinction. They destroy my ships smh
See, This is what I like about KSP, The Kerbal Engineers are always putting together some contraption that hopefully works. Then you put it in a spacecraft that could just be mentioned by "killing machine," hopefully survive and go somewhere... Or just make a contraption, what is playing KSP the right way anyway?
You guys did again, another excellent update. It's a cool way for us vets to re-experience all the different parts of the game and should make things much easier for the new people too.
I would like to say well done on the MASSIVE progress you have made and if I had infinite gold I would give it to you for this one game keep the work up squad :)
If you observe the materials bay on the ground, it says "one of the test subjects seems to be judging you silently", I think this video explains what the game is referring to, also on the mun surface it said "You leave the bay open and do something else for a while" which happens in this video.
The known life forms on KSP; Animals: -Kerbals -Squids Plants: -Grass -Deciduous trees (Terrain scatter?) -Coniferous trees (Terrain scatter?) -Cacti (Terrain scatter?) It would be cool if you could send Kerbal dogs and monkeys into space. :)
The following is my personal thoughts about this update: I love this update, I guess it made me think a lot more creatively, before I had to have these huge ships and big booster to get to the Mun, the update made me think a lot more strategically. I thought it was REALLY hard to get a interplantary lander into space using just skippers and poodles, but surprisly my first design was a sucsses, I love it makes you do things like I haven't done it before.
It depends on the situation. If I can get them into an orbit, they have a chance of rescue. Otherwise they may have to wait for an extended period of time or never make it back. One time I was able to get a capsule in an orbit that went close to Kerbin. I basically had to get my guy out and push the capsule to get it to a point where the orbit would take it into the atmosphere. I think he made it back, though. More recently I got my guy stuck on Duna. I'm open to ideas for getting him back.

I can see a feature film lenght movie about the whole "Space Kraken" issue, beginning with this little incident and ending with an epic battle around Bop.
Also, there is a perfectly good demo version of KSP available on their website if you can't afford to buy it. It's an older version, but it's the full game.
Actually, the first time I did report in the atmosphere, but that was because I was lazy. I put one solid fuel booster under a rocket (pro rocket science) and it didn't go the best. I think that I unlocked more basic parts after that. I then made a ship like this: Capsule- Decoupler-Solid Booster-Decoupler- Solid Booster-Decoupler- Solid Booster I think this is what got me to space. From then on out, I started taking more and more ambitious projects.
Actually, that sounds great. More nodes at less of a cost for each one. Then there's the strategy of choosing which nodes to unlock to get the most parts you want in the most efficient way. This sound like it could be much better.
I think doing science on your trips should either be easy and mostly automatic, or ethier be entertaining. Right now, while getting somewhere is fun, doing the necessary science is distracting and not that fun (my eva reports for example consist of exiting the hatch, then immediately entering it without even jumping off from the ladder))
"The kraken" Was (Is?) A Physics bug in early versions and creeps up from time to time Basically causes your ships to rip apart for no apparent reason after being perfectly fine for a while.
Epilogue: Science Jr. explodes, sending the octopus flying into space. The octopus then starts glitching out, spazzing in all different directions. He picks up some velocity and is able to carry himself to the Jool system. He comes to a hard landing on Bop. Meanwhile, at the KSC... The (thankfully empty) R&D facility goes kaboom, sending out a wave of radiation from the Science Jr. To this day, the radiation from the rockets and Kerbals sometimes connect to the octopus on Bop, which has been given the name 'Kraken', and causes all kinds of weird things to happen, such as ships shredding themselves for no reason and Kerbals spazzing out just like how the octopus did.
Maybe it should decrease per mission, but should go back up a little for the next mission there. Also, more science parts, to do more things. This would make unmanned rover missions especially fun and useful. These science parts could also have a separate part tree, so their unlocks could be less expensive, but would still require multiple missions.
Well we talked about the kraken, we talked about making a plush of the yellow or pink squid (YESSSSS) But I must say how the heck do they make these awesome animations? I love them!
This furthers my thinking that kerbin, laythe, and possibly other planets in the kerbol system contain animals. Due to physical limitations of the game they aren't shown in-game.

LoL, one of the videos i made is about it going to the Mun...

He now resides on the lonely moon of Bop, dead and still.

Yes but it'll die because that materials bay will be going to space.
ITS AN OCTOROCK; CALL LINK!!!
And this is how
Danny met the Kraken!
Did he took that kraken from Jool to kerbin ?
moho to kerbin??

If there's ever a KSP show, I'd totally watch.

so the mini kraken is the science jr
Hey that's how the kraken was born! I gotta tell Danny2462!
It hitched a ride to space, then (given that the hazardous material gave it new abilities) farted its way to Bop.
I agree

This brings me an idea to investigate Bop with a lander and rover.

The kraken is the common name for pretty much any bug in the game's physics engine that can result in ships being destroyed in some fashion.
The mighty Kraken
These shorts are beyond brilliant...
Its a good thing I have Captain Jack Sparrow on speed dial...
I wish you could do that in KSP and even the sequel PLEASE DO THIS!
DO NOT DOUBT A KRAKEN'S GLITCH POWER!
I would pay good money to see if they would make a tv show or something out of this, the animation is so good, its also funny

I can see a feature film lenght movie about the whole "Space Kraken" issue, beginning with this little incident and ending with an epic battle around Bop.
And thus... SCIENCE JR. TWAS BORN!!!!
That's the unlock that gets you the actual landing struts and the small fuel efficient engine. That's how I got on the Mun and came back.
so thats why the thing in the materials bay looks at me...
I hope when we get new upgrades and major achievements in the career we get little vids like this.
For whoever that thinks it's a baby kraken, it's the goddamn mystery "goo".
i know
The Naval Gamer it entered a science jr
Oh, so I displaced it in one of my videos... It's on the Mun right now.

You can get a demo off their web site, and that should give you enough play to realize that it's worth buying.
Actually, that sounds great. More nodes at less of a cost for each one. Then there's the strategy of choosing which nodes to unlock to get the most parts you want in the most efficient way. This sound like it could be much better.
and the baby kraken managed to get home by getting in the space ship and grew even bigger than your average kraken because of the hazardous materials.
Would be nice to finally see a storyline...
Maybe in KSP2 🚀
Man i wish they made a series out of their trailers.
I could really go for a weekly Kerbal T.V show
And thus the Almighty Space Kraken was born
This isn't the Kraken, the Science Jr, or even the goo canister.
This is the origin of the player in Kerbal Space Program.
"The kraken" Was (Is?) A Physics bug in early versions and creeps up from time to time
Basically causes your ships to rip apart for no apparent reason after being perfectly fine for a while.
Epilogue:
Science Jr. explodes, sending the octopus flying into space.
Oh my gosh! I love your work!
How redundant. My ships explode just fine without any fancy space Kraken, thank you very much.
Don't you hate it when your pet kraken launches itself into the KSP logo?
It was a nickname for a bug in older versions that would randomly tear apart your ship
The space kraken is a bug that rips ships apart at certain velocities.
And thus, the kraken of KSP was born.
Maybe it should decrease per mission, but should go back up a little for the next mission there. Also, more science parts, to do more things. This would make unmanned rover missions especially fun and useful. These science parts could also have a separate part tree, so their unlocks could be less expensive, but would still require multiple missions.

Gotta love a game developer that puts in fan references. Squad, u so awesome :D
the wheels at 1:13 were used in the making history expansion
This furthers my thinking that kerbin, laythe, and possibly other planets in the kerbol system contain animals. Due to physical limitations of the game they aren't shown in-game.
Was validating steam files to try and spark the download, went on reddit to see this video, went back to steam and saw it downloading... Fucking hell this is going to be a fun night.
And thats the story of the space kraken
Little did we know that it was the kerbals who released the space kraken in the first place!
We all know that little guy is going to Bop
That explains the science bay report on the launch pad...
It would also make your kerbals become flying spaghetti monsters for no apparent reason, that was always a good one.
Happy birthday!
You know it's a great game when the developers make fun of a glich in their game
Guys, in the description it says Play KSP 0.22 now! So it will probably be out soon! (Maybe in a few hours so they can update the website????)
