For sanding in really tight areas, apply double sided tape to a credit type plastic card, add your desired grit, cut in strips. Cut the tips sharp as needed.

A long the brush cleaner, I would also use their brush conditioner. I'm a commission artist who does a ton of comic book and Manga inking and the number of brushes that that stuff has saved makes it worth its weight in gold. Especially when you need brushes that get into the 50 dollar price range. It almost always brings it back to a super fine point.

Something to keep in mind for the EL Wire newbies: the shorter you cut it, the brighter it glows. It's something you need to be aware of if you're taking a 16 foot long EL wire from Hobby Lobby and cutting it down to size. Driving 16 feet of EL wire with a AA inverter is going to result in some very dim wire, and cutting it down to length is going to significantly change the look of your project. You may need to build in a cubby to hold the extra wire or use a different inverter if the brightness is unwanted.
There's also a minimum length of wire the inverters can drive. I don't know about Hobby Lobby's inverters in particular, but you probably shouldn't run less than 1ft of EL wire on a 2xAA inverter because you risk damaging the inverter, and EL wire inverters are the cheapest of the cheap Chinese electronic garbage and they run at extremely high voltages.

The color mats where really cool for doing minis and simular models. What I would love to see is a chart/book that has "all" paints (within reasion) that have the "this paint is just like this paint". So I don't have to worry if I have a the same color from 3 different companies.

I got tuned to a more deluxe version of that powered micro screwdriver on another channel. It's only missing 2 things, a chuck for micro drill bits and an extension. That's cured here with that micro collet -- separate from where? The bit extension would be very helpful for reaching screws as otherwise the bit is snug up against the screwdriver body.
Beautiful precision -- I bet I'll be using mine for decades.

Just a heads up that the driver for the El wire makes a very high pitched noise. A couple people have asked about it since it can be heard in the video. Yes, it's very noticable in real life. If your hearing is still fresh enough to pick up that frequency it will drive you nuts. There might be higher quality drivers that don't make the noise but i don't know. When i first bought a couple of kits like this many years ago it really put me off and i just dumped them in a drawer never to be used.

In principle a nice gadget. But when you listen in the video when he switched the light of the EL-wire on you can hear a high frequency noise in the background. Most of these cheap lightings kits, especially from china, aren't electronically supressed properly. You will find that with several low price LED driver kits also. This often interferes with other electronics (smartphone, audio equipment, etc.). A real pity, because these kits offer so much potential for the hobby. Maybe it is possible to drop the battery box, where the driver is included in a shielded containment (sheet metal box for example).

I have been using the brush soap, decal transfers for years, and can't agree more with you, but I found that Hayespaper has clear and white decal transfer paper in 8 1/2x11 sheets and you can use any clearcoat over the print for use, I use Krylon clear glaze in the spray can, 1. You can print many prints on the sheet or keep cutting it down as you need it. 2. A much bigger spray can of clear vs. the small can from Testors. 3. Available in either white or clear for your decals. I love the other tools that you featured and the ideas you offered with them. Keep up the great reviews and even more of these short offerings!

First of all, thanks for all of your videos and the effort you put into them. Great work, keep it up!
EL Wire (that neon-looking rope) is neat for many purposes, but has some disadvantages. Mainly that it needs high voltage to work (that battery case has a driver to up the voltage), the drivers often give of high-pitched screech and connecting a couple EL wire strips manually is fiddly as these have a solid core coated with some phosphorescent substance that you need to scrape off before soldering and two so-called angel wires as the other connection, and these are super thin, rip easily when stripping the plastic outside and are annoying to solder as they're so thin. Also, not particularly bright light sources with a fixed brightness.
A different interesting product for flexible illumination is flexible LED filament wire. Lower voltage, easier to work with, but as far as I know are only available in fixed lengths and cannot be shortened. If you want to go down this rabbithole, check this video:
    ua-cam.com/video/zhe8d9NgcsI/v-deo.html
Another cool miniature light source are these wireless LED light using an electric field for wireless power transmission:

With a laser color printer and "ghost white toner" you replace the black toner with the white one and then print perfect white decals.

    • @seanmalloy7249
      @seanmalloy7249 9 днів тому

Make sure that you have the correct decal paper -- the decal paper for inkjet printers won't work properly in laser printers, and vice versa.
If you're _particularly_ lucky or prepared, Alps _used_ to make ink-jet printers that you could get white ink cartridges for; unless another manufacturer has brought out a similarly-capable line, the only way to get white on a decal using decal paper like this is to use white decal paper and be _extremely_ carful about trimming the printed decal not to show white anywhere but where you want it to appear in the decal. The only other option is, as you say, using a special white cartridge in a laser printer.

so the hobby mio color cards might just be the same as the dispae ones which are 60x80mm in size. That's pretty close to yugioh (59x86mm) or pokemon cards sizes (63x88mm) im thinking of putting them into a card binder (its more like a book than a binder) so i can look at multple colors at once more easily. its not nearly as thick so itll be easier to store. Lastly eventually paper all rips around binder rings so itll likely keep the cards safer

not a fan of those black base for alligator clips, they get easily stuck inside and you have to sometime pull hard with one hand while the other has to hold the base or the entire thing go with the stick, on top of that they easily tilt and sometimes touch the others clips making your drying parts touch each other and they even sometimes fall on their own if the part is too heavy, awful. There is virtually no reason to take them over a cardboard one
