My mother had a 1973 240Z 4-speed, while everyone else's mother drove a Ford/Chevy station wagon - haha! Two years in, it needed shocks and my autocross/SCCA driving uncle dialed her in to Koni racing shocks, followed shortly afterwards with Pirelli 195/70HR14 replacing the the Bridgestone 175HR14 tires. FIRM ride! That car would later later be replaced by a 1981 280ZX 5-speed, which I bought from her in 1993 with 48K on it. The diff had 3.91 gears and would chirp 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th gears. That car got the Konis plus 15" Weld wheels & 245/50HR15 BFG tires, as well as a Motorsprort 6-2-1 header, 2 1/2" exhaust, and intake upgrade. Recaro seats were also added for a killer daily commuter that tore up the track nicely on the weekends....

We are doing a 280z build as well. Installed a carrier 9” with reversed triangle four link with coil overs. Engine is a healthy LS pushing around 500 hp. DUNN’S rev sports in Bloomington indiana.
I do believe they're in Tennessee. Sure as hell ain't here in Northern Minnesota. We still salt the shit outta our roads because of the frigid temps. It also looks like the car has less than 30,000 on the clock and has been in a garage for the past 30 years.

For the Apex parts I saw on one of the youtube they had the hard time getting the rear end. Personally the aftermarket radio , carpet, etc. All of the oem parts I replaced had no problem. Just my experience @@ohmster101
Perfect timing! I'm doing all the same things with all the same parts on my 280Z right now! Do you have part numbers for the wheels you used? Will they fit without fender flares? I'm thinking they won't. Thanks for showing this!
I just know this thing is going to get a turbo charger. It’s ripe for it (low compression), and you guys would not do all this work, and keep it at less than 200 hp. come on, don’t disappoint us!
Back in the day I put new struts on the back of my 280z I had it done in Sears in North Dakota couple months later I go down to Iowa buying tires or something and they told me my shocks were bad or struts it took them three days to replace them on warranty and they destroyed my car they torque those struts all the way down instead of at 120 lb
All that you're doing on this Z is awesome. Except............ Please say you're going to do something to that engine to make these upgrades sing. At least a turbo . 🤔

I get what you guys are doing with this car and at least you aren't tearing her a new one and putting an LS into something that has NO business having one... But a larger part or me wants to know why you'd pull apart such a clean old survivor ? I don't think this car needed a 6 speed, or new suspension, considering what great shape she was in, seems pretty wasteful. Also the fact that you seem hell bent of putting tens of thousands of dollars into this girl who obviously ran and stopped just fine.
Agreed. As someone that likes to modify these cars and has done various engine and suspension swaps, etc., this one was too nice to start with to do what's being done. And they mentioned flares. Ugh.
Carcass reminds me of that one car guy everybody knows that just pisses away money to have the worst ride in town. Reference their f-body, they ruined that thing.
@@nullproject I hadn't registered that they planned to do flares. There is no need for such a nice old car to get jacked up with wide tires it doesn't need and flares required to fit them too. This is a lot of money to hack up a beautiful survivor.
This video is basically click bait for NISMO and Apex Engineering. High-end suspension and brakes on an, at best 150 hp engine. Could have at least slapped a turbo on that L6 - easy 300 hp right there. Those brakes are totally unnecessary on a street/light track car and will simply add unsprung mass at the wheels making the car handle worse than with the stock brakes with performance pads. Oh and these poseurs don't know jack about s30s, and it shows.

Great series thanks guys. I'm in the process of modernizing a 240z. Great job guys🤙
Cool hope you'll put up sum videos of it soon.
From the looks of wheel fitment they plan on putting widebody or fender flare which is kinda meeh
Agreed, still scratching my head why they chose such an original survivor to do all this to.
Good for bc racing im seeing them everywhere on UA-cam sponsoring. And I’m sure their plan is working
How on earth did you find a 70’s Japanese car with literally zero rust and not break a single bolt? I’m guessing you’re not in the northeast.

The tire alignment is completely adjustable. You can increase and decrease track width, adjust camber, caster, and toe to a very wide degree.
Did you redrill the hub bolt pattern in the dust shields to mount them upside down?

What size are the bushing spacers between the diff and the subframe?
Cutting the upright without a vice to hold it... Do you expect this to be a backyard job or a professional one?

think those tires are a little over kill and would probably slow your car down due to it not having enough power vs traction.
