OMG! It just shocked me that you hacked the fenders to put those cheap-ass Chinese fender flares on!! You guys really know how to ruin cars... Just to make them look cool on TV.
Boy did they ever destroy a beautiful stock Z. That gray looks horrible. Should have kept the blue. And why hack the fenders just for some meaty tires. Might as well turn it into a track car at this point. Keep it stock and enjoy it for what it is.
Anyone else wondering why they took one of the best body styles from the time period, and covered it a color that is only fit for basement floors or battle ships?
Yep, they should have started with a beater if they were going to do all that to it and I like the blue better. I get the flares for the bigger tires but if they were going to do that they should have fabricated true metal flares that faded into the body seamlessly. I had one of these wayyyy back so I'm kinda pissed they ruined a really nice car. They should have just done a restro on it with some more modern drive train and suspension parts and left the rest the way it was.
It's a Restomod...... a part of building a Restomod is painting it a updated color and this color is litterally a brand new color. I personally would have picked something else but I get it, while the paint color was o.k. it didn;t fit the style of the build.
Wtf were you thinking ? Black plastic fender flares, you just totally messed up a beautiful design . They are ugly. You went through the trouble of getting rid of the front bumper and replace with a better looking item good call ,the other mods I have no problem with. I know your car your rules but FFS lol
Can't believe you guys ruined that car. It was beautiful before. And original. Now it's concrete colored, and looks like a 13yr old built it. Ridiculous.
Shame you guys didn't bent a small return lip into the front arches to retain some strength in the panel. Plus, what the hell with these dumb monochromatic colours these days? The original light blue metallic was WAAAAAY nicer than boring battleship grey ☹
People keep throwing around JDM look. All it stands for is Japanese Domestic Market which means things that were sold in Japan and we couldn't get them in the US for example. JDM used for everything instead of what it simply means.
Just because the mirrors are JDM, doesn't mean you should of used them and their functionality is marginal at best. Love the build but the mirrors are a MISTAKE! 😒
Oh, BTW, with ALL the color options out there, even for the new Z, you had to pick the most boring color of all. WTF? The only areas I would keep that color would the trunk and engine bay. Thanks for ruining a nice looking 280Z. MAYBE, next time you should ask for viewer input on a color?????????????????????
I love POWERNATION and many of shows they have. It seems like they all love and respect cars and trucks. With that being said, why the hell did y'all take perfect, original car that looked like it was in perfect condition and then hack it up like that?!? The grey paint is beautiful but the original paint looked amazing. The body was perfect. I'm sure there are a ton of used and slightly abused 280z's out there but maybe just maybe a handful of pristine examples. Well, now there's one less example. So disappointed guys
The fender mirrors on JDM cars are so iconic and cool. Even though I'm don't think there are usable, for the nearsighted, they are still fantastic nonetheless.
@@waveformdistortion , there is major difference between seeing the image in a 2.5x2.5 vibrating mirror at the end of a moving vehicle and seeing a 3,000lb automobile on the street. But it sounds like you are just a troll and not someone paying clear attention to what is going on.
This is my favorite build by you guys, I like people who think outside the box. You guys should do a mid-late car, the 73-77 cars from the Big 4 (AMC included) are becoming a VERY popular build because they can still be bought running and driving in decent shape for pretty $1500-$3000, The parts are still available from parts stores and from online parts companies plus they were pretty cool looking cars, they just had almost no power because of the smog regulations but I'm pretty sure you guys know a couple guys who know a couple guys who know a couple guys who can fix that slight problem...
***AWESOME*** I really liked that era DATSUN 280Z and really Like What You Have Done. I do think, however, the grey color does not match THIS car stick with a steel blue or cobalt blue or a Light Metallic RED would have been great IN FACT the original color you started with was FANTASTIC. ALSO, WHY put mirrors out that far, everyone knows they are worthless out that far . Otherwise, AWESOME WORK

@Jarrod Nichols ya I totally agree. I love power Nation for pat and his engine builds and knowledge but some of these guys on their other spin offs are just disappointing. But motor trend is kinda the same unfortunately.
I’ve seen a lot of grey cars and trucks. Not one looks good. Leave it on navy ships where it belongs. You car your colors though…. Bolt on flares?! Say it ain’t so… 😢
First, why would you show everyone how to replace the front bumper and not how to replace the rear one and process involved with the rear. A lot of work you did on this car and did not share it in the video, which would have helped a lot viewers with your so called "JDM" update. Also, why would you have cut up a non-rusted zcar to put flares on it. A damn shame to the "Z" community.
My Nissan 180SX is a future classic I have the 1989 model so it's 34yrs old and I have had it for 23yrs so it's a keeper and in Australia I can take it on classic rallies as it over 30yrs old and a daily driver.

what a shame, such a nice car and then ruining it with such a horrible color...🤢🤮
Went from a beautiful blue to a battleship gray. Not a good choice.
yeah they destroyed a very good and nice original car - its sad!
OMG! It just shocked me that you hacked the fenders to put those cheap-ass Chinese fender flares on!! You guys really know how to ruin cars... Just to make them look cool on TV.
100% agree.
That's exactly what I thought. They started with a perfectly original example too, which is getting pretty danm hard to find.
Those "cheap-ass Chinese fender flares" are replicas of the factory optional fender flares that the car could be specced with when new.

Too bad this survivor didn't go to someone who wouldn't hack the body up.

i thought the original paint was in great shape. color change was not bad, but respray was unnecessary.

Fender mirrors are ghey.
People keep throwing around JDM look. All it stands for is Japanese Domestic Market which means things that were sold in Japan and we couldn't get them in the US for example. JDM used for everything instead of what it simply means.
By that definition, nothing is truly JDM anymore.

If you're so nearsighted that you can't see the mirrors sitting on the fender, you shouldn't be driving anyways.

Beautiful work but gray paint looks terrible. Screaming red, orange or maybe black would really make this Z a trophy.
17x9 ? Is't it too wide ?
The wheels wider then the
Arches don't look right 🤷♂️
You know when pouring out the paint from can, its better if tape is a V shape instead. Just my 2cents
Tellin ya for the almost last time...ya gots to do an AMC Eagle. Tellin ya....
This is gonna look sweet. Is this a rebuild straight 6 or V8 swap?
It says in the video.
where did u guys get the template for the fender mirror location? please share. thank u
it's a shame you didn't show how you stiched inner and outer wheel arch togheted on the rear :/
Came here to watch that, left disappointed.
Why don't you use acrylic sanding blocks?
Its going to be a great looking car but i liked the blue psint better

What is the name of the simulation app ?

Wow why would you cut up the fenders, then insult it with that ugly grey

The only thing missing on this would be a built RB swap, but that's an entirely different kind of restomod.
Looks slightly darker than Trailer Park Primer (Nardo Gray).
Nice 1
Where can I get those carbon fiber bumpers?!
So nice!! The bay, the paint job. Everything.
Great job guys
Great upgrade...fresh & modern look🤩
Ruined the fenders/guards

pfft. making it look like the devil z but then not painting it the devil z color is a disappointment but it still looks good
Yeah they missed the mark on that one. The 280 in Wangan Midnight started with a torn up shell, not a pristine classic.
I hate those JDM mirrors. They look bad and are a pain to use.

Amasing looking car after this great colour choise.
What an inprovement over that ugly blue from before.
