Oh my God.... 9 years old. Plays it better than anyone else I've heard. That tempo is insanely spot on.
Children have been playing these pieces for ages.

Me, a 28 year old struggling with this piece.... looking for a youtube rendition and then it's a 9 year old playing it !!! AAArgh ! But of course she plays it beautifully. I'm just jealous !

These children are all so talented. Bach is very complex even with these little pieces.
I agree with you. as I play some bach. on the organ.also you can hear the harpsichord. the piece is a lovers concerto. one of many favorites from him.
This sounds nice enough on piano, but a harpsichord really brings it to life, as I feel it does for all the inventions and sinfonias. Expertly played here.
Just a perfect little gem. And the tempo is beautifully judged.
Glad to see this observation. There appears to be a temptation to play works such as this at breakneck speed but I really think a more moderate pace can bring out so much more from the work, from the instrument and from the performer. Playing it smoothly and savouring the harmonies should never be a competition to see who finishes it first.
Slower would sound much more boring on a clavichord. That's the reason everyone plays it faster on all instruments. On a clavichord, there is no "holding" a note, so there would just be many gaps.

The period tuning (A 415 Hz) really makes this great

I was confused for the longest time why the tuning sounded different
I am not professional but think it doesn't affect.
In modern music A is on 440 hz and G# 415,3 which is a small difference from 415.
So it's about transposing one semitone down.
@@CrCr-cl4rk one semitone is a lot when you're trying to play along and confused why you sound so different. Thankfully my keyboard has a transpose feature
Best of all. So amazing. She is always calm through her performance. The tempo is well under control.
What impresses me most about this excellent performance is the way this young artist maintains the legato in the descending broken chords in the left hand. It's not as if she has large hands, so she must be stretching her width adroitly.
seeing this girl perform this is like seeing the culmination of human society: all of the various things needed to make this happen, from knowledge of physics of sound and the mathematics of music to carpentry and to the physical dexterity needed to accomplish the playing, are astonishing.
Do not forget about the musical education needed for her to be this well versed in Bach, probably her parents played, and their parents before them. Such a beautiful thought really, thank you sir.

Beautiful & amazing child! Plays in pure nature without any thoughtful interpretation additions compared to mature pianists. All original, pure, & clean sounding. Must have a good instructor specifically. Also the instrument is astounding!

This is my favorite tempo for this piece. Mostly all of the other recordings are people playing it wayyyyyy too fast.

IIIRC (from many years ago) the falling figures from 0:47 to 1:00 pass from the right hand (thumb) to the left hand. She does the transition perfectly.

Just looking at it you understand that it has great intelligence and sensitivity. To play Bach in this way, one must have lived and acquired maturity, it is not easy to understand how at just 9 years, she has this maturity!

I have a special connection to this Bach composition. It was the first music I got to play on my early 80's PC with a Roland MPU-401 MIDI card. Very nice performance of a great composition.

Bach was brilliant
This is impressive to me as she's looking at the sheet music and not her hands 95% of the time. So many people just memorize 3 to 5 pieces a year and are terrible at sight reading and actually have very limited repertoires. She looks like she can probably immediately play a ton of music.

I heard it too. Harpsichords can be a bit twerky in the tuning sometimes. Perhaps retuning after every Inventionen segment was impossible, or a second take could not be made. It is an incredible performance considering Anna's age and this was her first encounter with a harpsichord (alle these children are piano students).

She did well with 1 and 2, but probably lacking in the 3.

If both manual keys go down when you play either manual, what's the point of playing a spcific manual for effect?
It is coupled to the second manual. You can’t play both you would need 4 hands!
