They sell older, high mile trucks. They do a lot of work to them, and have to make a profit to stay in business.
My wife and I took a road trip looking at trucks around the midwest, we stopped at the dealer in this video and found all the trucks to be just like this one. Needless to say, we spun around and hit the road again, without looking back. That welded kingpin cap is terrifying.

Love your content! I bought my 2005 379 with the Acert there at Ohio and although I didn’t hire someone like you, I spent 3 days looking that sucker over lol. And one thing that REALLY stood out to me suggesting the previous owner took care of it were the tires! It was the ONLY truck on the lot that had matching tires on all 8 drives, and very good like new steers, both looking to have the same wear. The drives looked like they’d just been replaced but not recently enough to think the dealer did it. So far, 50k miles later, no serious issues. Just normal crap for a truck of its age.

Great content Ryan. My favorite truck, but I’m concerned about the gas prices. Not so sure the 5 & 6 mph are going to cut it. The used prices are ridiculous, especially for the W900’s. What’s your opinion about focusing too much on just the gas mileage (Cascadia) versus everything else?
Thank you! Good fuel milleage is always a plus, which reduces your fixed cost. You should also consider the maintenance side such as parts cost and availability and repair cost. It is also a big expense. The last will be your own preference, such as the brand and the look of it.

I bought a 2002 379 three years ago and that dealer had the most hood trucks listed on truck paper, but I didn’t even consider driving any of them because 90% of them claimed to have rebuilt engines, but only 1 in 15 or 20 did they have any paperwork for. Huge red flag. I understand if someone didn’t want a Cat shop to do the work, but they should at least have an invoice for parts. And most all of their trucks looked like crack heads and a pack of wild dogs had been living in them for the past year. Great point about the mismatched tires too.

concerning the price of these used vehicles. The constitution starts off WE THE PEOPLE. Well we the people are the reason that these old trucks cost so much simply because people are buying them and these dealers mindset is well how much will they pay and people are paying it . People dont realize that we are in control of how much we pay. what i mean is collectively as united people just dont pay those prices. Go to the dealer and put 40000 on the table and say take it or leave it. In the beginning the dealers will tell you to piss off but let the united people do that for 6 months. Better yet stop buying used trucks nationwide for six months. As far as the auction are concern do controlled bidding with a cap of 40 grand and not a dollar more. Truck prices will fall guaranteed.

Thank you! Actually the document for the engine overhaul for this truck is legit from a reputble shop with 4 years warranty. Someone should be very careful when reading the documents.

I have a new authority and wanted to know if I lease a truck can I work loads from the load boards or do I have to take the loads the carrier gives me that I'm leasing the truck from?
It depends on the leasing agreement. If you just lease a truck itself, like you lease a car. You can use your authority and use the load boards. If you lease onto a carrier, you will have to drop your authority and take loads from the carrier's load board.

I have travelled to CA and other states for inspections. Distance isn't a problem.
