My family has two Hermann's tortoises, 1 and 2 years old. The one year old is bigger than the 2 year old. So, we think we have a male (2 year old) and a female (1 year old). I can't wait until they are big enough to explore outside. We keep them in separate houses (very large tortoise boxes) except for the occasional play date. Your tort is very cute and I love the space you have for her both inside and out.
If you remove the grass, you should replace it wi some other plants that are more appropriate for her habitat rather than leaving bare dirt. I love what you’ve created. So amazing! What are the dimensions of your shed?
I was hoping for some better plants with the scatter seed but it became obvious quickly that it was mainly one grass species 🤦 The shed is 28ft X 10ft I have a video all about it on the channel. Thanks for your comment!
Hello, we don't have foxes visit our garden but also daisy is locked in at night. Many people leave their runs open but I'd suggest doing tons of research. Good luck with your tortoise!
@@norwichreptileshed Thankyou. Have been doing a lot of research.. we have an old chicken coop to put in for starters as we get foxes in the day this time of the year
@@janemmorgan1778 I think if I had a lot of foxes I would build a simpler shape and have a mesh lid or make it like a coop so I could stand inside. I have built something similar with our catio a few months ago
@@kayleighkingsley6932 thanks! I don't find that mine digs at all but the fence is sunk into the ground slightly. For other species of tortoises you would definitely need to consider sinking the fence further into the ground.
@norwichreptileshed Oh brilliant! I've just rescued a Hermanns that wasn't being looked after and was hoping to make an outside enclosure but was worried about her digging. Is the basking lamp always on during the day so she can acces?
They need more space than I thought.
I really respect you. Thank you.

Very cool. Love it. When mine get a little big bigger I'm going to start working on an outdoor home for them.
Thanks! That's excellent, have fun building it!

@@kayleighkingsley6932 the basking lamp and UVB fitting are on for 10 hours a day except really hot days when I turn them off
