Beautiful video! My wife and I love snorkeling in the Caribbean. Favorite spot has been St. Lucia and Bermuda. We are going on a cruise April 2023 from Oahu and can't wait to visit these beautiful islands for the first time and watching your videos are helping us pick out the areas to snorkel at.
Yay a new vid!! I snorkel on the big island, on our trip to Hawaii last summer, and it was amazing. The big island is amazing for snorkeling! And ur videos are amazing tysm!!!!
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it - thinking about my last visit to Big Island in July 2022. Captain’s Cook monument was the only place that I missed and I should probably visit… I was twice on Two Step (not too far from the monument), snorkeling was absolutely fantastic, it was the best. And I tried practically all the famous beaches on Big Island. About “Beat the Crowd” - Honomalino Beach was absolutely the best with good snorkeling (though not at Two Step level), only my family was there, but it required close to a mile hike (very nice and easy hike!)…
Im glad i had the opportunity to snorkel Hawaii in 1989. I was 15 yrs old and didn't go back until 2019. The change i saw due to global warming was heartbreaking. Dead coral and way less fish. Especially noticed on Kauai. I still love the islands though, and will be returning in a few more weeks.🧡
Love your videos. We bought your big island itinerary for our upcoming trip! Did you use a filter on your GoPro for that underwater footage? Looked epic
Have y’all checked out “two step”? We went to both places and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It was our favorite spot on all the islands to snorkel, actually. We snorkeled on Kauai, Maui, big island, and oahu.
I'd love to take a free dive class, those are popular in Hawaii. I'm working on it. I prefer to be underwater when snorkeling then on top. Thanks Bill!
Is there a Captain Cook snorkeling boat tour for someone with mobility issues? My daughter can walk without a walker if she can hold onto someone for short distances. I feel Hawaii is really lacking in opportunities for visitors with mobility issues.
thanks for asking. I'm not an expert on this but try this 50' catamaran tour: thehawaiivacationguide.com/activities/kealakekua-bay-snorkeling-tour/ Or try Fairwinds as they have a large boat that looks very stable. For beach access, head to state parks and county parks as they should have ADA ramps and other helpful means for beach access.
Thanks for subscribing! When you need one, you can't find one. 😂 Beach parks are common and they have restrooms and water faucets. Tap water is good in Hawaii, per our opinion, so easy to fill up. Resorts and parks have water bottle refill stations.
Glad to see an abundance of sea life. But the coral reefs don’t look as healthy as they did 30 years ago. They were more vibrant with color and a variety of corals. Over the years they’ve gotten more “monotone.” Anyone else notice this change over time?
We've heard that too. The reef has had some bleaching events due to high temperatures. The community is keeping an eye on the number of folks snorkeling these locations, using mineral-based sunscreen, and keeping people off the reef as ways to help rejuvenate the reef. They just had an international coral reef conference in Hawaii.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide I've noticed that myself - especially in Maui. We need to take care of our oceans and coral reefs. They're precious. If you watch the documentary "Chasing Coral" you begin to understand how fragile these beautiful ecosystems are.

Wow - Stunning footage! David Doubilet would be proud! This makes me want to get back to the waters of the Island of Hawaii so bad.
Not bad for a GoPro and my shaky hands. I'll see if National Geographic wants to hire me. 😂

have a wonderful cruise in April! Thanks for watching and enjoy the trip planning!
This video is wonderful! Im moving to Kapa'au on Big Island, in December. Can't wait to check out Captain Cook!
best of luck on the move!

Thanks for watching! Big Island is great for snorkeling. Such clear water.
Fabulous snorkeling. I’ve snorkeled several times at Molokini Crater and your tour puts the crater to shame. So much more sea life there
They are similar as turtles are rare to spot at Captain Cook Monument too. Hit up Kealakekua for your next trip!

Two Step is a great place. I need to go more as it’s a big area to snorkel. Thanks for the snorkel spot tip.

Thanks for watching and grabbing our itinerary! No filter on the GoPro!

Two Step is great! It made our top 5 snorkeling spot on Big Island video! Plus some of our others as it is a great spot. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Question: how do you hold your breathe for that long since you don’t have a tank? It is an amazing dive!

Great job
We are going in August! What camera did you use?
GoPro 8 or the 10, so easy to use

I was looking at this tour but .... How do you get back into the boat? It seems like it would be difficult.
There is a ladder to climb up. About four rungs or so.
key is to get there after 330. ive been the only one there twice
How easy is it to find public toilets and water fountains to refill bottles in Hawaii? Thanks

Do the sharks try to come up to you ?
No, black tip reef sharks ignore humans. In my experience
