Love em wouldnt have anything else. ive gotta 74 also as my daily driver the old lady trys too kill me every mornin when i go to leave for work at 5am and fire her up downstairs in the garage HAHA
Very nice, great bike, you don't start an Ironhead, you bring them to life. Nicest Ironhead I have seen. The 74 is my favoriter year, last year of the shift on the right and a 74 Ironhead was the first Harley I ever rode back in 1980.
@Kenny H If you are old enough to call them inserts then you are old enough to be fooled by "common sense" or what you believe to be right even with no quantifiable evidence. The problem with extremely low idles is the time spent on the compression stroke causes an excessive amount of crankcase pressure and an excessive amount of bearing loading which leads to excessive wear and oil breakdown. It doesn't matter what type of bearing is used, the problem is one that will kill an engine regardless.
Reluctant Gearhead .. I try to be a grown up these days that is rare , people don't care and that's it. I have been building bikes for over three decades , I have my likes and dislikes some people can't handle that well that is fine , I build bikes not peoples egos. Nice machine however I would have done a couple things a little different not a big deal. Like Mario at CCI would tell me ; ride what you like ! at that time I was a supervisor there I handled more H-D parts than most people will see in a lifetime. Take care. J-D
Why do they put those crotch-rocket tires on Harley's these days ...makes Me feel sorry for the machine. by the way the whole (Ironhead ) thing is so gay ..it's just a normal Sportster . not a pile of crap New one. j-d.
Is Panhead gay? What about shovelhead? How about knucklehead? If you haven't figured it out yet, it's just a way to identify what engine came on it. Don't cry little buddy. It'll be ok.
@@thereluctantgearhead4544 You most likely was still running around with a poopy diaper when I first rode a REAL V-twin or was not even born yet , don't worry little girl no one will know the truth about you. don't you cry little girl mommy has a fresh diaper for you.
Very nice Ironhead. If it's a '74 should have always been a 1000. '71 was last year of 900.
They rounded up. What they called a 900 was actually a 883. They rounded up.
Man there ain't nothing that sounds better than an old drag piped Ironhead!!!

I never thought anything could sound as good as a Shovel on drags, but this cute lil Sporty is right there.....

Beautiful man! I’ve got one too, albeit a bit more conservative and it’s here in limey land. I love my sickle! I love my iron head!
Yes that thing puts a smile on my face, too
sick ride bro! It puts a smile on my face to hear that motor run. gives me energy to continue to finish my rebuild
Idle is set to low obviously, nice Looking iron head and sounds great!
Get that poor thing an air filter.
Bike dies due to pour idle.. ;) And it tends to be hard on the low end. But Nice ride buddy!!

Awesome bike buddy
i have a 75 and its a right foot shift ? so if 74 was the last year mine was rerouted that way?
it may have been a early 75 harley used left over parts or sold 74s as 1975s to get rid of old inventory back then
awesome thanks for the info.
I have a 75 that iam in the process of doing a complete rebuild on and my is left side shift
The 1974 was NOT a 900cc Homie, it was 1000cc.
Nice bike. Wish I could hear what he's saying . Sounds like he's whispering....

Those wheels spoil it
A 74 is already a 1000cc stock
