Prior to the introduction of Depository System in India, the companies used to issue physical share certificates. The Indian share market followed open outcry system, where investors buy and sell shares physically.
In Depository System, the securities of investors are held in the electronic form with the depository. Since this system dispenses the movement of securities in physical form, therefore it is also called Scripless Trading System.

Demat account is required to store your shares. DP facilitates transfer of shares. Further, it depends upon trading platform if it allows other demat accounts or not. You need to check the platform specifically

Baaki toh samaj gaya ki rights wagere ultimately beneficial owner ko milta hai and depository bas fiduciary capacity mei work kar raha hai but still company direct investor ka naam kyu nhi likhti??

@@Papertyari Rbi grade b. There is no ethics notes sir. I was hoping since u r providing free notes u should also provide ethics notes. Am really thankful for your notes but they are kind of incomplete.
Im studying them eg. in finance section. check SIDBI notes. there is no mention of its Quasi judicial or other powers vested in it. which is actually more important.
