STOP. bring up LEXIE HULL!!!! Its annoying already. She is going no where
Cutting her won't help with the salary cap. They need to trade her. If they cut her, her guaranteed contract still counts toward the cap.
That’s what I thought
Can there be a buyout?
They should trade her to the Sun. They have nobody.
@nr14989 I don't know. Depends on how the contract is structured. Problem is, I suspect it would still count toward the salary cap.
Dude seriously, Whats the problem with playing with just 11 players?? most teams only play with like 10 of their players anyway...like seriously what is you fixation with this.. last season they played max 8 players...now they have roster to actually play 10 of their players that are actually good or great players (minus Wallace)... PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR FIXATION
I don’t think it’s that they NEED 12 players but they lack a decent backup big. It’s the biggest weakness on this roster. Dantas and KLS can’t rebound or play defense. They have plenty of guards/wings though.
Fever can mitigate that problem by staggering Howard/AB but that will be tricky to do. Both of them averaged around 30mpg last year. Even with staggering their minutes, Fever will still be undersized in the paint against the best teams.
I think they will still be really good but I worry it’s the difference between losing in the semi finals (depending on the matchup of course) and winning it all. We will see.
@@ALoveSupreme65 Well stated.
Not a big deal to not have 12 players. If team gets hit by injuries they can sign emergency replacements.
They basically had 11 players last season. How often did Victaria Saxton play? Almost never. Bad coaching though.
Katie Lou is battling with depression for long time i hope it's not gonna affect her today.
That’s probably it… ❤
I agree with you I’d have no problem having her on the team if she had a smaller contract and the team could still roster 12. She’s been pretty ok in unrivaled, probably a lot better than most people expected. She’s a great teammate and was bouncing back from a pregnancy so she’ll be better than she was last year
KLS is fine. She has a contract, she's been training, and as the old vets need fewer minutes she can make her impact. Its make or break time and expect her to be well recieved by fans.
This. There is no dire situation. We can still draft who we want to draft, and sign at a later date.
I have no prob keeping KLS for this chip run.
@@diIbert Yeah, Mick keeps bringing this up like it's the end of the world fielding 11, but it's just not that bad.
Honestly, Wallace would be easier to unload. I could see a team taking Wallace for a backup center with some combination of picks.
@aden538 Wallace gets no value to open up cap space, by getting rid of Wallace they'd be able to fit Brown as the 11th player and would still not leave them enough to add a 12th player. The only way possible to open enough cap space to get to 12 players is by trading Katie Lou by herself or Katie Lou and Wallace.
@ Ah, I wrote a longer comment, then shortened it a left that out.
Yes, trading Wallace for a center would not open up cap space, but it would give away a player who has almost no shot at seeing the floor and get someone who can contribute as Boston's backup. They would still have 11 but would be a more complete team.
Linn Dunn and Christie Sides should have never brokered that deal with Katie-Lou. NEVER! At this point, seeing Kristy Wallace on Fever roster is frankly insulting and Katie-Lou’s contract is the Fever’s albatross!
Excellent post!!! 💯
Completely agree. I might understand it from a cap spending perspective last year. You need to find a way to fill your cap space but why the hell did Dunn decide to lock her in for 2 years? KLS played on 4 teams in 4 seasons and Dunn just handed her $355k after she just had a baby. It’s insane.
I don't know why they can't rework her contract? I mean damn I like Katie lou. Maybe she does the team a solid and help out the fever to get the chip
I would rather keep KLS contract and keep her on the team and run with 11 players than having to give up Hull in order to free up the cap space. Mick this Fever team is stacked and lets be honest the 10th 11th and 12th players on the team won't even play except in like a blowout game. Adding a 12th player who will just ride the bench all year won't be adding anything to the team. Multiple players would have to get injured for the 12th player on the team to even see any playing time.
The sparks are much better then the fever
@@Datfalconfan I like the sparks but they are no where near the level of the Fever.
@@Datfalconfan I’m concerned with the Fever lacking a backup big but saying the Sparks are better is an absurd claim 😂 I think the Sparks will likely battle for the 7th/8th seed.
I just don’t believe Plum is going to raise their ceiling that much. I’m more concerned with Plum’s shot selection now that she’s the first option. I would hate for her to stunt Rickea’s development. We will see how it all plays out.
trade Wallace if anybody! my gosh, she's the worst player on the team at this point.
Trade her for what, or who? She only gets paid the minimum, like 65,000. It would help but not enough. Draft picks get more.
Anyone who would cut Bonner would be as incompetent at Lyn Dun.
Yeah, really. They just signed her.
KLS has played for a different team every season as a pro. She can't find a home, but she always seems to find a place to go.
The Sky are collecting Draft Picks like Pokémon
Nothing. They have enough new players. If they get anymore, they'll have problems gelling. She dumped her socials because people like you keep saying she sucks and they need to dump her or trade her every day. They are fine with 11 players so give it a rest
Toxic Fever fans are at it again.
I hope Samuelson is traded because she was awful on defense and couldn't shoot. The Fever must add a tall defensive-minded rebounding center to be a backup for Boston.
Man why don't you guys leave her alone.I'm a Sky fan saying this. She's getting the Reese treatment.Shouldn't the GM have figured out the cap?Leave her alone❤.
KLS: “The fever suck bc of me too 😡. And I want y’all to know dat.”
Bet they did figure it out ….. KLS is upset about something obviously and you’re right, we should settle down and let her be
Sky made a big mistake letting Clark go. They have lost it.
KLS had 33 3s last year. 6 teams did not have a big that made that many 3s. The Fever need a big that can space the floor. When DBonner, NHoward are on the floor with A Boston the defense will ignore them and pack the paint. If the Fever get rid of KLS they will probably not win the chip.
Lol I caught that lil jab u threw at John the liquidator😂😂
What is wrong with having 11 players? You can only play 5 and there are many games where some don’t play.
Yes it’s common for 8-9 to play.
If they trade Katie Lou, won't the team she's traded to have to pay her what the Fever has to pay her? And if the Fever doesn't want her for what they have to pay her, why would some other team want her at that price? Maybe the Fever's management is cool with 11 players. They had 12 last season. Victaria played about ten minutes, Grace maybe 30 minutes, Kristy sat on the bench after Lexie took over and Erica hardly played toward the end of the season. Trade Katie Lou and cut Jaylen and management must have someone pretty good up its sleeve.
They could trade her and agree to pay half or say 80,000 of the contract. That would open up 80-90k so they could sign one of their 2nd round draft choices. Right now they can’t sign either.
Fever trade KLS, Kristy Wallace to the Sun and their 20th pick in the upcoming draft to GSV/ Sun trade Marina Mabrey and Olivia Nelson-Ododa to GSV / GSV trade Temi Fagbenle to Fever and their 17th pick in the 2025 WNBA draft to the Sun
Love it!
Why would the Sun do that? That’s a terrible trade for them. They have to feel like they won as well. Their not Fever fans.
The rules say that they only need 11 players.. maybe they are just gonna have 11 this year. Last year they only played 10 players with Saxon and Berger on the bench..
If they trade Lexie Hull,
deport Mick same day.
He lives in Ireland.
@ He in NY right now. Likely snowed in like me.
@ Say "he is in".
@@anthonypuccetti8779 I talk and type like a New Yorker 😆
No one talked shit about you. Stop it. JTL put this story out 3 hrs ago. It’s his opinion not fact
Why can’t they renegotiated the contract to free up money and defer the money over the next couple of years
It seems pretty clear to me: the other 12 teams know that getting rid of this contract is the one thing that’s probably holding the Fever back from being the favorites for the WNBA championship, and none of them are willing to be the team to allow that to happen.
Very doubtful. More likely that any teams entertaining this are just asking for more than the Fever are willing to give, like a 1st round pick.
@@aden538
Or the two 2nd round picks. I wouldn’t doubt the Sky-who already have 9 1st and 2nd picks the next two years but are looking for draft capitol to move up in the draft have already made that offer but the Fever are holding out for something less pricey.
What about moving on Kristy Wallace? Hasn't been terribly productive and her role has been taken by Syd Colson. Fever could trade her, plus pick 19 or 20, and get maybe a future 2nd rounder? Yes indiana don't get much in return, but at least they aren't carrying a waste of space/cap
Her contract is guaranteed too (thanks Linn Dunn!). She only makes $80k though. If they got rid of that contract, they’d have about $122k in cap space. A rookie contract is going to be 67k. Jaelyn Brown would cost $70k to get on the season roster (on a training camp contract right now)
So trading Wallace would still not allow them to have 12 on the roster but they’d at least be able to keep Jaelyn Brown for the year or take a rookie instead of Brown (likely an athletic true C that specializes in D)
So trading Wallace would be good but the only way they are getting 12 on the roster is if they can trade KLS.
Since it’s been a week since the last moves, I think at this point, we have what we have for the season … 11 on the team including KLS and Wallace. It’s still a great roster, just doesn’t have a true backup Center that can play defense.
'Being better than 'most people' thought' in a 'Mickey Mouse' league is hardly a qualification for a near max contract in the WNBA and to be dramatically influencing her teams' salary cap, albeit it is Lin Dunn's fault, not KLS'. The truth is she will have a better chance elsewhere now as the team is too stacked for her to get a look in and play significant minutes. The same applies for Grace Berger, instead of wasting her career warming the bench.
So what just play with 11
The Fever obviously can't trade Samuelson. Otherwise, they wouldn't have waived Berger.
Can’t they renegotiate her contract? With all possible endorsements in Indiana, I think there’s a strong incentive to try staying in Indiana for less, with some long term guarantees.
Mick this is getting old…. You are over reacting buddy. Going out with 11 players isn’t a big deal at all. Be great to trade KLS and Wallace but if they gotta ride the bench while 9 others play and they are there in case of injury so be it. That’s just business. If you ain’t one of the best 9 players on the floor and nobody is injured then you ride the pine. The constant talk on social media about KLS probably has her in a personal
Meltdown. She seems like genuinely a great person trying her hardest and all she sees are people telling her she sucks. That’s gotta be hard and demoralizing. Honestly if she could play how she played last night the fever could live with her one more season and who knows maybe she gets her confidence back and surprises everyone. Last nights game was the best she ever looked in terms of confidence and movement.
Katie trade ASAP to avoid disruption before March 1. It's a business and The depth of Indiana is more than able to survive.
Dude, you keep calling it a bad contract. When they signed her, they were way under the cap, and they couldn't get free agents to sign. Nobody wanted to play in Indy. You need to use your brain.
Exactly. The Fever were in the same position as GSV is now, needing to overpay just to meet the minimum. The biggest issue is that Dunn had a 5-year plan, so she didn't mind signing a bad contract for 2 years instead of just 1.
Signing a woman who just gave birth to a two year contract is a bad contract. Signing someone who has never been a good player since college is a bad contract. Any number of players would have come to Indy for that contract. Almost everyone on the team last year was better than KLS. Caitlin’s likes her, so I had hopes that she would be better this year. If they get stuck with her, then I hope she plays better than she did last year. But either way, it’s a BAD contract.
@@MaxxZimonick 180 is too much.. salute to her agent haha. Anyway agree to your conment.
If she has the worst contract in the WNBA, who will want to trade for her? I guess maybe a team that is a mile under the cap and needs a player really badly.
The fever will give someone a pick (or multiple) to take her contact
@@MickTalksHoopscan they offer money, or pay part of the contract. Or renegotiate the contract like other sports? Even more years for less money each year?
@@MickTalksHoops
You are correct or maybe one pick and pay a third or so of her contract.
I don’t care that the team has 11 players, KLS is getting back to top form and in top form she is still a better fit than someone that will be brought in to replace her. I would give up whatever to get Wallace off the roster and sign Brown from her training camp contract. Still go with 11 players with Brown on the roster. They can sign rights to an overseas player without it coming off their salary cap. They don’t even have a 1st round pick this year. Give up Wallace and your picks to get her off the roster. Do you really think they are going to have a hard time in free agency next year with CC still on the Fever. KLS has more value coming off the bench this year and it’s silly to care about the 12th roster spot.
Ok you said KLS will going to be trade.. then who will take KLS contract??? Probadly valkary? Her contract is too expensive
Fever Administration has a Plan,,, come on Now
They should have kept Berger and traded Samuelson.
Katie Lou's contract is too hard to move, but Wallace wouldn't be. The real issue isn't running with 11 but rather the lack of depth at the 5.
One option I haven't seen is that maybe the Fever wait until after the draft to make a move. Technically, they can use all of their picks and have them in camp all the way until the season starts as trade assets. They could probably package Wallace with one of the rookies for a 2026 2nd and a backup center. It wouldn't get them to 12 players but it would fill the only real hole in the roster.
They don't use 12 players Why do you want 12 players.
I think they are having trouble trying to trade her because of her salary... cutting her will not help Indiana so they either have to trade her or keep her...
Saying the front office didnt purposely go with an 11 player roster is just stupid. Teams played with 11 players last year and oh look at that White's team was one of them. 12th player is not necessary when its usually a rookie that only sees garbage time.
Good soliloquy there Mick especially the "Keep things basketball" comment.
"Nobody is Trading Dewanna" Fever have to Give away the contract with a Bonus❤
KLS could be back in form this year- contract may be bad but it’s in place. What can they do??
She'll end up at Golden State
Bonner ain't going anywhere
There are going to trade KLS, You should quit making a BIG DEAL out of this
Can they restructure her contract.. I’m not familiar with those rules for WNBA. For me cutting Bonner is a no Go
The wnba and nba and fans are really cutthroat . That's why I praise players like Jimmy Butler.
Mick you are always making absurd assumption how Fever will cut D Bonner when she already signed a protected contract. If one has to cut it is J Brown on Training Contract but they already had 12 players CC KM LH AB KLS KW DD NH SCn SCm DB JB .with still 42K cap space If Fever intent not to upgrade they can pick up the No 19 draft then cut JB whose contract is not guaranteed on TC or Trade KLS and KW with Connecticut and get Mabrey and pick another draft pick no 20 should all be centers / PF for Nos 19 and 20
Why does this matter 11 players are far to many
what is going on? no one wants to help the fever. so i think it will be hard to get off that contract; especially if Golden State loses cap space.
Katie Lou doesn't have much say. But she will be desperate to stay with Indiana.
Bro you keep making videos about the same thing. They dont have to cut or trade anyone.
Finally happened, waiting for Wallace
What if it takes like 3 first round picks to get off of Katie Lou? What if it is way more expensive than we think?
Bro. Sleep. lol
You just threw that out there about divorce... stop it.
KLS's contract aside. Why couldn't KLS and the FEVER come to some type of agreement, where she gets a remuneration reduction and retain her roster position, which would be better, I would think, than getting traded to a mediocre team. What makes her contract such a hard guarantee?
Nobody is taking that contract😅!!!!
trade her to the sun, the sun prob want to tank anyways, and she might put fans in the seats being a uconn alum
Just keep KLS and have 11 players …
they can package lexi hull in a deal to offload katie lou' contract, which the cutthroat fever brass just might consider doing
Fever can buy out her Contract ..Then the salary cap of 180K be added to Fever cap space .Fever has the money to buy out her contract which mean she take a rest for one season then Fever can recruit another player around 120K veteran Center
How about this crap?
ua-cam.com/users/shortsNIOlSPUhB3I?si=Mrfz4YUq35OHOEhO
Question: if you need cap space can you send her off and make a deal to still suck up part of her salary while she plays on another team?
I actually told someone who has comms with the Fever organization on how to handle the Kls contract. 1, I grew up with Simons they give you anything you want you just need to ask. 180k is meaningless. Plus blame it on Dunn. . 2, move her to the coaching staff pay her 180k she can tear up her player contract. Not counting against the cap anymore. Plus she can focus on the mom stuff doesn't have to travel. Cheerleader at home games. After all she's going to be a junk time player. 3/4 players are better wings and she can't play 4 not physical. She 20 lbs heavier and slower than college, no defense, a horrible fit for this team.
What do you mean they can't trade those two players? Are they not allowed to trade folks on veteran minimum contracts? Or are you trying to say that cutting them doesn't solve the problem because they need to cut more money than that?
He means no one wants them at the price they cost (relative to their ability). Cutting them doesn’t help because they are guaranteed contracts. If they cut them, their salaries still count against the salary cap so it does no good.
Guess just led her ride the bench and collect that money because no one is taking her next year. She will need this money
if she is willing, rewrite her contract.
Can she negotiate With the Fever to downsize her contract to $100K and leave more room to other new signees...? Is the WNBA union allowing her and her agent to do that?
The Fever has 12 players. What are you talking about. Quit worrying about your numbers and scaring everyone.
Jaelyn Brown is on a training camp contract now which will end with training camp which doesn’t count against the cap. They don’t have enough cap room to sign her to a contract for the season. They don’t have enough to sign any draft pick either.
So they do technically have 12 right now, but when training camp is over, they will have 11 if they can’t find a way to move KLS out.
I don’t think 11 on the roster is that big of a deal. And it’s certainly possible KLS could have a better year. They still have a stacked roster. The only hole they have left is a true center to backup Boston. Dantes can fill that role but she’s not a good defender and she’s very slow.
Realistically, the whole situation now is a “first world problem” though. I mean this is all about trying to get a better 4th best bench player. By comparison to last year, we were worried about weak starters at the 3 and 4 so we are still in a great spot now.
trade the contract...
Katie Lou's husband is going to divorce her unless she straightens up her jump shot
Feel bad but there is no other way but trade her to clear that massive cap hit .you can’t be at the end of the bench making 180,000
