This is really impressive when you realize that the vast majority of the battery is new to BD. I checked the member list, and the ONLY member who was previously in the A corps battery is one of the basses. 5 of the 9 snares came up from the B corps. All 5 of the tenors came from outside the BD org. And in addition to the 1 A corps bass, 2 of the remaining 4 came from the B corps. So of the 19 in the battery, only 8 have BD experience of any type...11 are BD rookies. That's huge. When I was in the 1984 corps, only 2 of the 10 snares had BD experience. Same for 2 of the 5 tenors, 3 of the 5 basses, and 2 of the cymbals (because we HAD a plate line then)...out of 24, 15 BD rookies. And yet, we still won drums.

What amplifies their youthful talent and gumption is that the experienced staff seems to understand how to bring out the best in the line. Looking forward to great things
SUPER aggressive book and I love it! It’s getting cleaner, this is really going to be a race to get that amazing run by finals! If that happens it will be GREAT for the drum score!
I love coming back to these early videos to see who was doubting because this line is now stacked beyond control with 7 snare vets and the other 2 coming from RCC. Maybe the people who judged this line in July of their youngest season ever will get what BD was doing when they win drums this summer.
Exactly. And BD always prioritizes learning the whole show at the beginning of the season, so they may not be as immaculately spotless as other ensembles during the first few weeks of competitions, but rest assured they will quickly close that gap. I’m sometimes hesitant to put up early season videos for this reason, but it’s nice to see the doubters eat their words as the season progresses.
The first snare break bit show a musician lesson for drumers that you just cant have one strong arm both arms must equally balanced to have clean licks , breaks and etc

Why are all the snares at different angles? I feel like the center has his on sort of a weird downward angle. Maybe an equipment issue but I'm not sure
Are their drums bigger? Or is this like porn, where the players are so small it just makes the drums look bigger? Anyway, too bad they couldn't afford to attach the sleeves to the uniforms.
@@tomkaufman3914 How am I troll? For having the audacity to ask you to prove your statement? And until you provide a single example of someone saying hype would win it for BD, logic will continue to say that I’m right…Lol.
Balance and dynamic range is mid, classic BD pock shots, but some nice beats in there. Still not close to BAC quality but better than the past few years I’d say
Center snare has such a satisfying left hand

It has cleaned up a lot. Still more room to grow. I’m happy for these young cats. Can’t wait to see what happens at finals.
Yeah they’re gunna be alright over the next month. Still got a lot of work to do. But they’re going to be sick in Indy!
Absolutely! Still ticks here and there, but that’s what the rest of the season is for!
@@DrumlineArchives I was thinking the same, miss the old days of “tick” scoring

My goodness those Ludwig basses and all the drums sound so nice
So wonderful - would like to hear the entire percussion ensemble in concert. Thank you for posting this.
Already sounds awesome. Can't wait to see em live.

Great lighting for this video!
Wow that funky tenor feature has started to clean up! It’ll be so cool once it’s got that end of season polish.

I just love how a 99% of their snares are probably not over 5’11… then there is just that one guy who is like 6’3
They cleaned up a lot, keep it up.

Ah, some Ditty in there makes me happy.
BRANDON?!?!?!?!? so nice to see him again!
Where is he?
When the camera is panning down the snare line, you should see someone in a white shirt.

What happened to the system blue drums? Couldn’t keep the quality up on them? Atleast the Ludwig’s sound great
Ludwig? What happened to system blue?
What was the cover placed over the snare that gave it that “rim click” sound?? Never seen that before

Boring. Not exciting music. BD's strong battery is dead.
Agreed i had to look twice to see if it was a bdb line. Half of it sounds like borderline exercise music
Good snareline, crispy clean but the hyping won't win high drums.
