+4Micstromme I always wondered if she got fired from CBS because she accidentally said coming up later on ABC 7, one afternoon, I think, during Oprah or Dr. Phil when she was doing a live promo for the 5 'o clock news that day. It was one of those quick, blink and you miss it live promos, she looked pretty upset right after it happened. They do fire anchors for mistakes like that. I would've never known about it, if I hadn't happened to be paying attention the exact moment it happened. I'm sure it wasn't recorded on tape. She looked REALLY embarrassed, though.
+Melissa0774 ABC 7 carried Oprah in those days and Dr. Phil was on CBS 2 at 3 right & Judge Judy at 4. While CBS 2 never acknowledged her firing publicly, she pretty much stopped being on New York TV after that. Same for Michele March after getting fired from NBC 4
AsnycnowRadio I went to school for TV production and my professor used to work as a floor director at channel 17 in Philadelphia, I think. He talked about this one time when they were going to run a story on Barry Bond's mom. (the NFL football player) She's the one that was in the Campbell Soup commercials. Anyway, they ran out of time, so they had to cut the story. He told the anchor in her ear peice "Barry Bond's mom dead," meaning the story's dead because they cancelled it. For a second she misinterpreted that and almost repeated that on the air. Luckily she didn't though. He said they both would've been fired if she did. This is why I always wondered if that misidentification incident is what got Roz Abrams fired. I wonder how many people even know about it because it was so quick and probably not captured on tape, though. If I hadn't of been paying attention to the TV at exactly the right moment, I could've easily missed it.

I forget what year it was, but I always wondered if that's why they fired her. She looked seriously embarrassed after it happened.
While CBS 2 never publicly said that's why she was fired, they essentially released her quietly. To be fair, you don't confuse your current employer for your old one live on TV.
AsnycnowRadio She definitely did it, though. If I hadn't of been paying attention to the TV at exactly the right moment, I could've easily missed it. There must be a recording of it somewhere. She looked extremely upset right after she did it, like she knew she was about to be fired.

The Intro music from 1999 onwards is so amazingly dynamic. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
CBS 2 also is so dramatic. Makes you look at the tv that’s for sure to at least see what the lead story is.
It's really cool to see all the Capital Cities stations (now ABC O&Os) have similar openings graphics even back then.
I think KTRK Houston had the best intros and voiceover done by KILTs Bill Young

Anybody know who the announcer guy is, who does the current ones? Also, just out of curiosity, does anybody else remember seeing Roz Abrams accidentally say ABC 7 during a live promo during the Dr. Phil show, after she was working at CBS? I forget what year it was, but I always wondered if that's why they fired her. She looked seriously embarrassed after it happened.

While CBS 2 never publicly said that's why she was fired, they essentially released her quietly. To be fair, you don't confuse your current employer for your old one live on TV.
AsnycnowRadio She definitely did it, though. If I hadn't of been paying attention to the TV at exactly the right moment, I could've easily missed it. There must be a recording of it somewhere. She looked extremely upset right after she did it, like she knew she was about to be fired.
That's why the firing was quiet.
