@@oleeboi honestly even thats not entirely correct. You can check the United defensive stats for the 1 or 2 seasons before he came to the season right after and there is a noticeable improvement.

I think he did get the short end of the stick this season. I'm a Spurs fan, but even I can see he was brought in for a system he didn't end up playing. He lacks the pace to play anything but a low block, yet Ralf was stuck in his ways and had ManU playing a very Bundesliga tactical setup (super high line and huge pressing efforts. To be fair it's not a bad system, but if 5 games in your team obviously lacks the ability/motivation to play in that system the logical thing to do is change it.
ManU is a shitshow and Maguire played horrifically this season (and has always been prone to a mental fuck up or two), but I also think he was somewhat set up to fail. 80M for a defender + making him captain 6 months in shows how backwards the mindset of that club is.
Tbf on maguire he was decent in his first season with united but just form has dipped. Also Ragnick was preparing them for ten haag

Too bad they for some reason thought sacking Ole was gonna help them though, so of course they ended up having an absolute stinker of a season for their standards and the fridge at the back did next to nothing to change anything

I was losing 2-0 to Man Utd in CL on FM22. Told my team to always press and tight mark Maguire. We scored 3 in 20 minutes and Maguire got sent off and gave away a pen for the 3rd goal. Even in a computer game, he can’t help making mistakes

Difference between England and United is that in england team he plays in a 3 cb system where his weakness dont show as much but when he is at United he plays as a 2 cb. His flaws really shows. he had a good spell , that was when varane was his partner bit varane got injured maguire got exposed
Maguire needs protection and has to play in a low block with no space for opposition attackers and the way city liverpool and all top teams play he will get exposed especially with ten haag he is slow physically and has no ball knowledge
under Ten Haag, I think Lindelof - Varane would be the favorite pairing (when they're fit).
who knows, maybe even Luke Shaw can be converted to LCB with Wan Bissaka staying back, forming a back 3 with a double pivot of VDB and a DM (whoever they will sign this season).

The problem is that United play 2 centre backs, in England they play 3 CBs so his flaws don't show. Another thing at United is that they play a high line and Maguire is slow as hell and has the centre of gravity of an Obese 300 kg American donut eating white man thanks to that huge head of his, his turns are so slow and he also has terrible positioning. Defenders like John Terry didnt have that much pace either but their positioning was amazing so that pretty much compensated for it
