If you ever run out of projects, try to get the orange truck working before she gets grown in the ground completely...would make a great toy hauler... 😉👍
awesome cant wait to hear that 2 stroke rev to the moon,i will just go out my back porch and wait haha. The cutting at 12:22 just a wonderful point of no return moment.
2:24 on your sturdy bench, shape a piece of 8mm metal plate to mimic the shape of the lip of that rim. You can then hook the good side of the rim on that piece of metal (which should be polished) and with a hard faced (but not metal) mallet, smack the dents out.
Regarding the low compression on the engine it might not be an issue, If i remember correctly these engines have a decompression valve / system to allow for easy starting so low compression when just turning it over like you did would be normal.
@@joshuaatkins5197 lol, it's low compression because the rings and/or cylinder walls are shot, not because it has short piston travel. (no compression vs slightly lower compression)
the only way we would get that build would be if he found a new location to live, he gets little to no snow witch is why we don't see more snowmobile engines that often.
@lizard5109 No, he's saying build a tank using the tracks not as a snow mobile. Would be a temporary machine as the tracks can only take so much non snow abuse
9:00 "The bearings need replacing, the seals needs replacing". I hate how everyone on youtube now says "the bearings needs replaced". Because everyone else is speaking fucked up English doesn't make it correct. Thanks for the project also.
Have you ever thought of using hand cleaner for mounting tires? It would have to be the cream without the pumice in it, though. My grandfather taught me that way. It softens the rubber and makes it slippery, then evaporates.
The "Special" XLT difference seems to just be the Fox long travel suspension in the front and rear. Snowmobile 2t triples are such cool motors, I love seeing them in builds. 2Ts have actually been making a comeback with crazy EFI and Turbo models released in the last few years in everything from sleds to dirtbikes and even chainsaws. If the CVT setup wasnt so darn wide I would love to put an older snowmobile triple in a small motoGP style motorcycle build...120+hp and under 300lbs would be a riot :).
Take the exaust manifolds off and you can see the piston and cycle wall with a flashlight.. if you rebuild you need to check crank bearings and change crankseals.
That machine had steering and suspension you could have used. And the ski could be used as a recovery tool when you have a machine with a bad spindle or something.
Did you see that badass old land cruiser shown at sema? It has a tank tread instead of a belly pan, so if it gets high centered it can roll itself off. You should do that with a snowmobile track!
I mean, that front cover of the snow mobile might look pretty cool on the trike or trophy truck XD. Neat 90's style vibe. Maybe just the cover, not the headlights and windscreen i mean.
That green slime is a preventative. It gets added usually before the tire is used. Slime it then air it and you have yourself a tire that acts puncture proof or slime seals around stuff(screws,nails... ect) so you don't get stranded. It's not really like fix a flat or similar.
And once a person is signed up with them. they send out a a catalog every month with new parts and accessories. as a snowmobile enthusiast for many years I have ordered a lot of stuff from them. and they also have specific catalogs for ATVs and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Oh man, if you did a road trip to Vermont, New Hampshire, you could come back with a trailer full of snow mobiles, or just the motors and I bet you could build a crazy tracked vehicle
I'm with you on not enjoying working with tires that have the green slime in them, but that being said i will still put it into any ATV/UTV I own. I drive primarily on rocky trails with a lot of weight on. I have never had a tire make it for more than its first year before it starts slow leaking. Put in the green slime and I don't have to add air for the whole season. Its worth working with the mess at tire change over time.
if its a high milage engine id look into having the crank pressed apart and the bearings replaced as well because those xlt engines were notorious for crank failures, the engines from that era with the individual cylinder heads were much better engines than the xlt engine with the continuous head in my opinion.
I think your gona build a crosscart I've seen them rip with bike engines and they look fun Sxsblog has a sxs with a 800 sled engine and it's pretty fast considering Just a geuss, great content! 👌
I’ve meant to ask for many years about the truck to the right of the work shop . Is it knackered? Is one of your dad’s old vehicles? Just used as a storage vehicle now? I know it’s being nosey 🤥but I’ve seen it weekly for years and just wondered about it . And the snow mobile had a bottomless storage compartment 🤣 thought you was going to pull DB Cooper out of there for a minute.
Take the track from that snowmobile and a starter motor and you could make a good way to free yourself if you get high centered by mounting to the belly of a vehicle.
Woupd be more than likely has stuck rings if the bore is clean id chuck some 2stroke oil in there an let it sit till you start it an heat cycle it id almost guarantee it'll come good
You are literally the only guy I know of, that uses the word "therefor" A LOT. Two-strokers don't really call cylinders "Jugs". That's really a four-stroke thing.
And a set of Polaris xcr 600 carburetors would make that XLT engine perform a lot better but what you really should do is try getting an XC 600 engine instead of an XLT engine the twin cylinder 600 performs a lot better than the triple in every aspect but I believe the perfect twin cylinder two-stroke engine would be of a 1997 Polaris XC or SKS 700
Where do you find your heim joints? The only ones I can find are about $50 a pair and that seems ridiculous. Edit: that’s for a 3/8 inch heim joint too, not big ones.

Yeah smart, definitely check for one before disassembling or buying parts to rebuild it.
I was thinking low compression would be great for a little mini turbo, lol.
It needs 120+ psi. There's no decompression on an XLT lol
@@joshuaatkins5197 lol, it's low compression because the rings and/or cylinder walls are shot, not because it has short piston travel. (no compression vs slightly lower compression)
@@CobaltOntarioadventures Incorrect , many Polaris engines including XLT ones had a decompression valve or well hole depending on model and year.
Bolting the rim to the welding table... brilliant!!
I would still be rolling around with it on the ground..😅
RIGHT I was gonna say the same thing
I'd love to see you do something with the track system for a winter time ripper
If there both the same ski. Maybe a project with rear tracks that would be awesome.
He rarely sees snow. It would sit outside and get rusty, from being rained on in the winter. 😂
Perhaps a mini tank?!
you know, you could use those snowmobile tracks for a tracked vehicle... a tracked vehicle might be cool project, something entirely new

The rear assembly and spindle look to be for a crosskart😁
Hopefully it's SMALL light cross kart, looks like fun bud, wish I had a shop to build things in.. good job😊
The demonic crackling of a 2-stroke triple is going to make a nice change from the ubiquitous 4-stroke fours!
Looks like a fun project ! Looking forward to the next episode 🎉

Thanks for filming Chris. 😁👍🏼
Whatever its gonna be, its gonna be loud. Those 2 strokes need lots of revs, so gearing will be key to having it respond right to throttle.
You mean clutching.. which he has no idea about.
Keep doing what you’re doing Chris you are amazing 🔥🔥
Have you ever thought of using hand cleaner for mounting tires? It would have to be the cream without the pumice in it, though. My grandfather taught me that way. It softens the rubber and makes it slippery, then evaporates.
wow a 2 stroke!, yessir i'm excited for this project
I got a good feeling about my guess in the last video. 2 stroke crosscart!
15 others guessed the same.
im too excited to see your new crazy idea build👍but one thing for sure, it's awesome👍♥️
Nice 2 stroke!
The hood of the snowmobile. Need to cut the glass and lickts off and then use that as a bonnet/hood for a build. Would look pretty cool.
Ohhh a cart with 2 snowmobile drive treads int the rear would be a cool snow runner =)
You need to build a half-track. That would be cool as hell!
The "Special" XLT difference seems to just be the Fox long travel suspension in the front and rear. Some years ago I found the Rotax engine page. They have a 850ccm two stroke with 165 HP. I definitely would like to see some vehicle built around it.
That motor has a little bit different porting and compression than early years and the flat slide carbs were a big improvement
Use hand controls to allow you to eliminate the pedals. That would give you tons of leg room
Definitely need a tank in the future, using those two Polaris tracks! You're definitely the guy to make it happen, with chains and jack shafts
you should build a sick full suspension tracked vehicle from a couple sets of snowmobile tracks!
16:52 its a barracuda/pirahna
2 two stroke 3 cylinders now we're taking some speed 😅😅. Love it Chris

Hy, the engines with 3 cylinders make beautiful noise. Kris
A dual or quad track buggy would be a cool project to see you build
Dennis Kirk out of Minnesota sells a bunch of Snowmobile and ATV parts. Thats who im going through for my sled buggy project.

awesome vids. you could build a snow track with the old sled
do you have a way to put in an overhead hoist, and a winch to pull things into the shed ?!
Also if its the cylinder closest to the clutch, its usually due to the crank seal. Ive been riding snowmobiles for 20+yrs.
1st. happy thanks giving Chris. (:
u need to build a power wheels tank with those tracks
If snow was more common in the area id be cool to build another "reverse trike" with the snowmobiles extra bits. More like a sit in snowmobile.

Can the jugs be turned through 180 degrees? Ie carbs to front exhaust manifold to rear.
Where do you get those hime joints
You need to add a metal piece that's rubber covered to the bottom of your beadbuster to do tires to keep it from sliding out on you
Its going to be a lightweight(relatively) crosskart for fast turbo track/gp track ripping im fairly certain.
Nice work ❤️ 👍🏼
I hope its dunebuggy sandrail type but you got me in suspense pal ill wait til next video to find out
