Connor Weigman got the 186 yards in less than 2 quarters of play. And the defense gave up 2 or 3 first downs in the first half. I’m not saying that Weigman was truly impressive, but it was solid, and something he can build on.
We actually played well against the run vs Miami, we couldn't stop Cam ward and him extending plays, Mertz Lost us that game Mertz & Billy , we left our defense out there for too long because Mertz could not make the throws
Slackman was a beast against Miami. He busted through 3 O lineman to pressure Cam in that interception. He is a difference maker on D Line. Hopefully he’s back against TAM
Lagway is the real deal he was the number 1 consensus qb in hs last year for a reason . We saw an exhibition of it last week and he scored on 1 of two drives against a soon to be top ten Miami team the week before . I think you’re all underselling this kids talent

Lifetime A&M fan. This feels like another game where I have no clue what’s going to happen. Like was said, I’m not going to be confident until they show me they can win on the road. If CW plays good then they have a chance. Otherwise it’s not going to be good. Also hearing weather could impact game. Not sure who that benefits, if anybody.
It funny to hear Texas an and m fans have the same concerns about their team as lost Florida fans have about theirs . This could be a blow out by either team or a close game win by either team . All I do know is Florida wins if they play lagway
@@adammauer6424Lagway doesn’t guarantee a win. He hasn’t played a team with a pulse yet for an entire game. I’m not saying he wouldn’t get it done, but it’s hardly a sure thing.

Lagway has had more accurate passes in a single quarter than your qb has had all season that includes your high school team you played last week .

A&M fan. Lagway looks like the real deal, but he is young. I would start Mertz and if Florida is down by 10+ then bring in Lagway and give him the 2nd half to see what he can do. Good for short term and long term.
Mertz isn’t the reason? 90 yards passing? We need a QB that can run against TAMU defense.
Samford isn’t a HS team. If Samford and Mater Dai, or Mill Creek, or Chaminade M. played Samford, we all know how that would play out.
It’s not lost on me that Samford is an FCS team that lost to West Ga, BUT it’s a slap in the face to DJ and Samford calling them a HS team.
They still showed advanced split field coverages based on boundary and field strengths, they used variations of pressures and blitzes and these guys playing for Samford are still good football players.
The hyperbolic nature of sports media is an issue to me. Let’s keep it real and use the information at hand WITHIN context to correctly evaluate CFB programs and their trajectories.

Mertz may not be the "reason" UF didn't beat Miami, but the crucial missed throws that would have easily lead to touchdowns (3 of them specifically) would have at least given the appearance of a closer game. There's a big difference in 41-38 compared to 41-17.
And we essentially gave them 2 tds by penalties…

If you're gonna say Texas A&M can't win on the road using the previous staff record use the mike elko win on the road with Texas A&M also before leaving for Duke or say Mike elko can't win on the road with Texas A&M and see how stupid it would sound. Then if you're gonna say you can't use mike elko as A&M DC wins on the road to predict this team success how can you use Jimbo loses on the road?

Could not stop the run vs Miami? Do you guys even watch the games? The only person who hurt UF running was Cam Ward, on 3 plays. It was the pass game and lack of pressure on the Miami QB that hurt UF, as Cam would extend play after play, then passing to a receiver downfield. It was also a bad time for Mertz to have what is really his only bad game while at UF.
So we not going to discuss Miami’s DC saying basically he knew what plays were coming almost to the T because Billy’s playcalling was so predictable?? It’s def not Mertz fault but why did we not blame Billy’s basic and predictable playcalling?

It’s college ball. Nobody “knows” what is going to happen. Having said that, both programs have made repetitive and truly aweful decisions in hiring coaches in the last 10 years, and 10 years is long enough to completely destroy the culture of an athletic program. A&M is a laughing stock (justifiably) with their insanely stupid contracts with Sumlin and OMG the incomparably, mind bogglingly stupid contracts with Jimbo. The players on both teams are fighting thru that. They know they are underperforming, and this one is going to boil down to which group decides to let it all hang out and play like they know what they are doing. So….. A&M has to figure out how to win on the road, Florida has to figure out they want to do it under a deer looking into the headlights.

Lagway broke Florida passing records...I'll repeat Lagway broke Florida, same school that had Weurffel, Tebow, Leak, and Trask, passing records. This is not even Close Mertz didn't convert 1 single 3rd down against Miami.
