Thanks for last year's guidance through the Book of Mormon. I'm looking forward to this year too.
Thank you for watching! This will be a good year!
Thank you, more helpful than you may realize.
Glad to hear!
Awesome presentation, I love it 😻
Thank you 😋
Thank you for continuing your instruction! I was hopeful you would do D & C. You are so informative and inspiring! Thanks again!
I am looking forward to this year.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you for this lesson. I am 82 years old, my wife and I were married 64 years ago, she is in last stages of Alzheimer's, what joy he have in our Savior and the blessings of His Temple where we were sealed in 1972. We joined this the Restored Church of Jesus Christ 50 years ago. I was a Baptist minister at the time and was looking for the Restoration and I found the truth and the Fullness of the Gospel. Even my father a former Baptist minister also told me that Mormons are not Christian. I said that is a lie put out by the devil. How do you know, have you read the Book of Mormon, no, then read it. After 4 months of my pestering him, he and my mother read the Book of Mormon to convince me of my folly. They came to me and asked me to baptize them after reading the Book of Mormon. They had heard the lie about the Mormons and perpetuated the lie in ignorance. I was guilty also until the Holy Spirit stunned me while preaching a sermon and I said something negative about other scriptures, such as the Book of Mormon, with these words "how do you know that is true", I did not know for myself and I began a quest to find out. When the missionaries began teaching me I knew it was true. My wife opposed me having anything to do with the Mormons. I told her to change the way she was praying, ask God if the Church is true, she changed her prayers and excitedly came to me and told me that a light appeared in her room and a voice told her "your husband is seeking to serve God, follow him;" she was immediately converted and asked me to baptize her. The 1st year 14 members of our families (by father and mother included) joined the Church. My father served as a Bishop and he and my mother served a full time senior mission to Bath New York when they retired. My wife served many callings including a Relief Society president and I in the Bishopric and many local and stake callings. I am currently the Ward organist. THIS IS THE RESTORED CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST. Life is short, eternity is forever. Which is most important? This is the time to prepare for Eternity, read the Book of Mormon again if you have before. I just read the scriptures again, during this pandemic and gained a renewed testimony of them. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Thank you for taking the time to tell this. What a great story. And I appreciate your testimony. What a great influence one person can have on so many. And that influence can grow over many more with time.
The Holy Ghost is real and can change even the most hard-hearted. It changed me.
Thank you for your beautiful testimony. May our Heavenly Father’s choicest blessings be upon you and your precious wife.
Dear Ron Palmer - great testimony on family and Faith
- what Hope does Jesus offer single women ? and is any Hope denied ?
In other words, is Matrimony essential to Salvation ?
Can LDS adult Virgins Live with Heavenly Father ? as Virgins ?
@@byronofcalgary6985 Yes, single men and women can be in the Celestial Kingdom and live with God in an existence much grander than what Christianity generally teaches. And no Hope is denied.
What is 'Salvation'? You are speaking in terms that do not include a fulness of the gospel. As stated above, single people can live with God and be 'saved'. But Exaltation, the ability to fully be like God and have an eternal increase, comes only through marriage. Which was the point of the Adam and Eve narration. And any single person can get married in the next life.
You might reconsider your angle on exclusion in our teachings. The gospel is about opportunity. And it is much more loving than Christianity generally. In other words, all people have the opportunity to hear the gospel, obey, and be heirs to all that the Father is and has. Regardless of when or where they lived on earth or if they ever heard of Jesus Christ in this life.
@@byronofcalgary6985 You can attain the Celestial Kingdom as a single. There are 3 degrees of the Celestial Kingdom. The Highest Degree is for those that are Sealed Husband and Wife, which is Exaltation, to be like Heavenly Father and Mother. However singles may be sealed to another and receive Exaltation. Can a Virgin Live with Heavenly Father? Absolutely in the Celestial Kingdom, Marriage is only in the 3rd degree of the Celestial Kingdom. Don't worry, Heavenly Father Loves You and has prepared a place for you so that you will have Joy.
Just loved this presentation! Looking forward to the rest of them! And thank you for doing this for us!!
More to come!
Sooooo excited to learn more of the Doctrine and Covenants this coming year and happily we started today! I am so grateful for you Greg by taking your time to help me and others learn.
I'm glad you enjoy the series and I also am excited for this year!
I love your explanation.It helps me,thank you
Glad it was helpful!
As always, insightful and interesting. Thank you.
Thanks again!
Yeah!! Stunning Temple detail all over Gods instruction
Love the continuity you have here. Very powerful. I believe Talmage was instrumental in remvoing the lectures on faith from the D&C. Thought it might have some confusing statements in it.
I've researched this. I couldn't find a concrete reason. But yes, there were some confusing things about the Godhead and then there was the issue of unknown authorship.
Have a very Happy New Year my friend!
Thank You for being here with us again this year. Happy and Blessed New Year.
Happy new year!
♥️🙏🏻♥️ Very great lesson as always. Very excited to study these great modern day insights on commandments and covenants and thankful you will guide the study! Exciting and urgent. Thanks!
You are so welcome
Thank you again....happy new year!
You are welcome! Happy New Year!
I was going to make this comment on the orthodoxy thread but I think it might be relevant here too...
It's interesting that recently church leadership has made a point of reminding us that the "restoration" is an ongoing event. I think we can easily fall into the trap of thinking that the church is static and it's leaders have all the answers. In this section of the D&C, the Lord makes a point of both underscoring the authority of church leaders AND highlighting their "weakness". I don't think church hierarchy means that leadership is infallible as much as it does that the Lord gives responsibility (talents) to some who have proven themselves and need an opportunity to learn and grow and to see if they will serve. The Lord places high value on learning from experience. (I know I'm not explaining this well, and someone will misinterpret it 🙂) The Lord stands behind his leaders the way I would as a parent when I'm giving my child a new responsibility, knowing that they might make some mistakes along the way, but they have to be given some leeway in order to learn. The Doctrine and Covenants, more than any other book, highlights the process of seeing a problem and seeking for an answer. The church (and the restoration) move forward as the people are ready to move forward, and that includes our leadership. Still, the hierarchy is important. Someone has to steer the ship! It doesnt mean, though, that there is no room for change, just that it is done in order. The Lord judges the church as a single entity which means the responsibility of leaders is indeed great. It also makes perfect sense that as church members we may be in leadership at different times but it's not always the same person running things.
I appreciate your comments. I especially like the thought of seeing the D&C as a problem solver!
@@CwicShow Thank you for continuing to share you thought provoking insights!
Thanks for going through this. No one else I listened to had mentioned the Lectures on Faith, who went through d and c 1.
Verse 10 is like after the Lord's prayer that we will be judged how we judge others.
The weak things of the world is also in the new testament/covenant.
Yes and yes.
Another wonderful explanation Greg, thanks for your insight.
Happy New Year.
Happy New Year Michael!
So glad you are continuing on with these insights into the scriptures and now the Doctrine and Covenants book. Really interesting and enjoyable. Many thanks and God bless.
Wouldn't miss it.
Please explain “and the anger of the Lord is kindled”.
'kindle' means to 'burn'. So the Lord became 'hot' with anger.
This would also be conducive to 'judgment' where, for example, a sword might 'burn' or be 'flaming'.
this has nagged at me since Christmas... do LDS have Christ born in Jerusalem or Bethlehem ?
I know LDS claim Bethlehem was a "suburb" but what about the 3 Magi ? No way they followed a star from Jerusalem to Jerusalem's suburbs... where shepherds were in the fields. Can't claim no rooms available in Jerusalem either - is there any legit explanation for an obv error ?
Somehow I doubt this has 'nagged' you. Not an error. You have heard wrong. Bethlehem is not a suburb but is in the 'land of Jerusalem' as is stated in the BofM. This is completely in line with similar ancient statements. For example, today, Santa Monica is part of Los Angeles, or, in the Land of Los Angeles.'
Interested to know, are you here, as in other places online, to provoke or for honest discussion? Provoking and arguing online is a waste of time.
I would welcome an honest and sincere discussion regardless of your point of view.
Your link to your website is broken in the description.
Thanks. I tried it but it seems to work.
It doesn’t work for me either. I’m using an ipad and Safari browser.
Try it now.
Yes. All fixed now. Thank you.
