so convenient to be able to shoot it handheld with a proper lens. we have to support in production film like instax so that fujifilm will continue making them ;)
For someone who grew up in the shadow of Polaroid, this is truly an unholy monster. Polaroid invented instant photography. Kodak stole it and got nailed for it . Kodak then sold their technology to Fuji, who turned it into Instax. There is a great account of the whole sordid affair in the book "A Triumph of Genius". So this is essentially mating a Polaroid with adulterated Kodak tech. I can't wait to get my hands on one!
Kodak process used in instax was also patented by Polaroid;Kodak only invent white opacifier;Fuji make only better dyes very satured and super fine grained and at iso 800 vs 320 and 600 Kodak and Polaroid film
I will forever say it - Instax is probably the best instant film ever made, they just support it with bad glass and this is proof. dreaming of the day they made a Fuji X Instax; the evo is the path closer
The best ever made is fp100 c Fuji peel apart film and type 55/51/105/665 iso 80 black white film whit reusable negative,a type of Polaroid polapan never cloned by Fuji and Kodak
I love Fuji Instax cameras. I recently used one to take photographs at an 18th. The kids went wild for the camera and film. They loved it. Plus, being physical prints, they won’t lose the photos.
Hello, I have the same/similar camera with the instax wide conversion. I bought mine about 5 years ago, however mine is a 110B so the rangefinder and framing window is combined. I would recommend sourcing a Polaroid 4 stop ND filter which attaches to the lens (since there is no ability to screw filters on). It reduces the film ISO from 800 to about ISO 50 which means you can shoot wide open when outside. I generally prefer the performance at f5.6, I find it is the sweet spot between bokeh and center sharpness especially for portraiture.
Thank you for this comment. I just bought that 4 stop filter and can't wait to try it. When you are shooting without the filter are you raiting the film for 800? I have heard some people are rating it at 640 and getting better results.
I just got this camera a few days ago (but modded for 4x5 film not instax) but still super excited to use it. I've shot instax film using the Lomograflok on my Intrepid and can attest that the film is incredibly when using a good lens. Love the portraits you took.
I have a model 160, but I BADLY wanna get a 110. I just bought the lomograflok back, so I'm hoping I can snag one of these beauties so I can experience using it. If not, at least I have my cameradactyl 4x5
Great video - partially because you just increased my vocabulary immensely - thanks! "Boke(a)holic" - now that's such a cool word I'll definitely be using! And lots of great photo tips (such as the instax film works best for portraits and not landscapes). Another excellent tip is to use the mint instax camera with a separate meter (I can attest to that). Enjoyed the video very much - thank you. An finally, being from the Bronx myself (although not a beer drinker) - you stirred up feelings in me of "Bronx" patriotism (I love that you t-shirt!)
That camera is beautiful! So great to see this conversion. Last time I shot with a Polaroid Land Camera was about 55 years ago. It belonged to my Dad and he let me shoot it a few times.
I’m currently trying to replicate this conversion! It’s taking a while to get the 3D design just right but I’m very excited for when everything’s done!
What a cool way to resurrect such a great old camera!!! I'll have to get myself one in the near future and try out the conversion. So much better than the Fuji cameras. And, a great way to keep these old cameras alive and relevant.
I have a Polaroid 150 and 95b and it is so close but not the same. Ive been staring at them for months trying to figure out how to make it work with the Lomograflok! I may have to get my hands on a 110.
Are you able to shoot wide open outside with this set up or are you having to use like an ND filter becuase of the ISO 800 film? Also are you rating it for 800, I've heard some people are rating it for 640. Great video!
Hi, thank you to share your experience. I've a question, how do you find with the focus considering the space occupied by the Lomo? Is the position comfortable, can you still see well through the range/viewfinder? Thank you!
I had an eBay-sourced Polaroid 110A and had it converted to take 100/660 series film. That was fine, then I set aside to "do 35mm film." When Fuji stopped making Pack film, that lashup became a "filmless classic" like the Polaroid 180/195. I've seen others convert 110-series Polaroid cameras to take Fuji Instax film, which depended upon finding a trashed Lomography Instax Wide camera. (But then, even Fuji's Instax cameras are two steps above trash, anyway.) This has me thinking about this kind of analog photography once again.;)
I have make the conversion too without any 3d printed parts and trying to keep the camera as original looking as possible. but required a lot of sawing :')
Took a look at Albert's guide on how to build this mod and honestly, it seems pretty simple. If I can find a cheap 110a in an antique shop or junk store, I might give this mod a try! Carrying this seems MUCH easier than carrying around my Graflex 😂
...as in the rangefinder in the crown graphic. I use mine with a 6x9 back and just use the rangefinder an its absolutely zeroed in perfectly.. Don't quite trust it enough with 4x5 yet ;)
I recently just converted my 110a to take instax wide, I'm still having trouble getting the focusing to work as the images are being produced but it's still a little blurry despite making sure my composure on the rangefinder is correctly aligned. Anyone know how to fix this issue? I really like the practice with this camera but I'm also wasting so many shots lol
Does this work with a regular 110 Polaroid model that is neither 110a or 110b, I own this model but haven't been able to find any information about it.
That’s pretty freaking cool. I’ve just EBay listed up a broken lens instax wide camera that I was gonna do this with, but too many other projects 👍🏼👍🏼😎
Even though this is so sick and I would love to have one for myself, do you think this might not be necessary with Polaroid printers? I just purchased one myself and I just shoot the photos on my camera and send it over to my printer to give the photos that Polaroid feel. It’s an amazing concept and clearly there will be a certain feel to your process but I’ve been thinking with technology, there is a lot of work around to get the same results for “cheaper” if that makes sense.
I think the image quality should be much better when you expose the picture directly on the film though a gorgeous lens compared to a light strip that exposes the film like a scanner.
Black and white film is not going anywhere though, it will definitely outlive color film and be there for decades to come since it isn't that hard to make.
Dude instax with a wide aperture is a truly god tier combo haha. Call me a bokeh hoe but shooting that shit at f/2.8 on the MUP is pure magic when you can land focus. I’ve had both the 110A and 110B and while most people prefer the single window of the B I find the increased magnification of the A’s rf easier to focus, also that keystone shape seems easier than the circle found in most other rf’s. I’ve never seen black frame wide! I’m hyped it exists when did they release that?
I adore pathfinder 1959 camera converted but in 2023 iPhone whit app gratis like reeeflex and Bluetooth instax printer make identical quality pictures and stay in poket and not is a 2,8 kg camera 😂;interesting also for collectors not to really use
so convenient to be able to shoot it handheld with a proper lens. we have to support in production film like instax so that fujifilm will continue making them ;)
It really is convenient!

Fuji x instax sounds amazing haha. Fuji would really kill it with a real camera for instax. Leaving so much money on the table
They have the ability to link to an Instax printer in the camera
The best ever made is fp100 c Fuji peel apart film and type 55/51/105/665 iso 80 black white film whit reusable negative,a type of Polaroid polapan never cloned by Fuji and Kodak

Your first video inspired me to get my own polaroid 110 converted and it's been sent off to option8 to get a lomograflok attached!
Oh cool! Enjoy

@@ribsyI've been a Leica Camera junkie for years but am now getting interested in instant film cameras. Your video was a great inspiration. Thank you.

All the necessary files are up on Thingiverse if you want to use those!
Check out Albert’s guide!
I have that very same camera but converted into an actual 4x5. Very very fun to use.
oh cool!
What a cool way to resurrect such a great old camera!!! I'll have to get myself one in the near future and try out the conversion. So much better than the Fuji cameras. And, a great way to keep these old cameras alive and relevant.
Totally agreed - it has a whole new life now
I have one of those cameras in original form and it has a clip on light meter, still in working order, as you say, it is a lovely camera.
Wow thats amazing
I am legitimately blown away! This is amazing! Now I must search eBay to see if I can actually afford any of the stuff
Hahaha good luck

Yea def do! A great setup
Beautiful camera. Would love to have one. I can’t 3D print though.
you can have someone print for you
I’m still waiting for a LomoGraflok Mini to put on my Graflex 2x3. It’s like the perfect size.
That would be really cool!
@Ribsy
It would be nice to see instax square backs for hasselblads
Agreed!!

Nice overview, thanks Ribsy! Definitely putting this on the build guide.
Yessir! You did great work here 💪🏽
Hey man, would you take on a commission to make another one of these? If one was to source the camera and get one of those lomograflok backs
Hi, thank you to share your experience. I've a question, how do you find with the focus considering the space occupied by the Lomo? Is the position comfortable, can you still see well through the range/viewfinder? Thank you!
This cameras has a couple rangefinder
Love it !!! ( Polaroid sx-70 shooter here )
Niceeee ✌🏽
Interesting. After recently buying a Zinstax back I don't need to be tempted with another instant camera for a while!
Hahaha yup
This is awesome, thanks for sharing. I think this kind of camera makes 4x5 so much more accessible. :)
I agree! More accessible and more fun!

I have this camera and thanks to you for posting this video.

Is there a way to purchase a set up like that? Would your friend build one for me if I paid him? I’m serious about this request by the way.
Wow, that camera take great looking pictures.

Can you still remove the lomography back with this conversion? I’d like to follow this conversion but still use the back on another camera.
Yea you def can remove it. But you would have to unscrew the adapter entire off, then remove the lomoback
Just have a 110A or B modded for 4z5 and get a separate Lomograflok back.
Do you not trust your graflex rangefinder?
...as in the rangefinder in the crown graphic. I use mine with a 6x9 back and just use the rangefinder an its absolutely zeroed in perfectly.. Don't quite trust it enough with 4x5 yet ;)
