- Flycutting the housing for our 60k iso spindle on a modified Moore #3 machine. The spindle holding the flycutting tool is a brushless dc motorize 4R Block-Head air bearing. We use our Tropel Flatmaster to check the flatness of the faces.
Gotta love how when the spindle stops, it actually spins back a little due to the tiniest of imbalances in the face plate. Air bearings are awesome.
thats pretty neat!
You have a very interesting design for squarness comparator, what tolerance are you reading?
Nice job not wiping down the chuck after stoning. Must be a nice internship.
you don't, as it might leave tiny strings of fabric on the surface. thus, you don't really need to because that is not an ordinary abrasive stone either. search for "precision ground flat stone"
what model is (or was) that moore? is it on rollers or plain ways?
They are using Moore equipment because it is cheap.
@@Tadesan We're using Moore bases because they are incredibly accurate, the fact that they're also cheap to buy is nice, but you'd have a hard time buying anything more accurate for even 10x or 100x more.
plain way in this case.
