Hey, thanks! I;m glad you mentioned the audio, because I selected some of the clips specifically because I thought the sounds were cool. Michael Laca and I were discussing this-- how every hurricane has a unique sound.
Thanks very much-- I'm glad you liked it! I have made Mexican hurricanes sort of a "specialty", now that you mention it. Living in Southern California and knowing a little Spanish is probably part of the reason. P.S. It's crazy we've chased so many of the same storms and never crossed paths! One of these days...
Absolutely incredible compilation, Josh!!! It's so cool to see your intercepts together like this. You've really got some amazing footage, and from some pretty remote locations... amazing!
Absolutely love this channel! greetings from the UK, in 2022 im still watching your intercepts! incredable footage. I love the wind its my favourite element of the weateher. Your videos really inspire me to go chasing in the UK. I live in Blackpool and just 1 mile inland, we don't get hurricanes but instead nasty low pressure systems in winter, sometimes the gusts reach 100mph in Blackpool. that's as good as it gets here, I couldn't imagine this sort of wind! averages of 60 and gusts to 100 are crazy enough.........look forward to future content, you are by far the best hurricane man out there!
Hey, thanks for the estimates. It's always interesting to hear how others perceive the winds. My feeling: you're possibly being generous with Gustav and Alex, and too low with Karl. (I would also say the Jova footage shows some of the strongest winds in this compilation.) But without actual data from these locations/times, it's all subjective.
Great Compilation of hurricanes. I've personally been in 5 of the the ones in the video. Josh is the man when it comes to Mexican hurricane intercepts.
My best guess for intensities at the time they were taken: Wilma - High Cat 1, 85-95 mph Dean - High Cat 2/low Cat 3, 105-115 mph Dolly - Cat 1, 75-85 mph (near max) Gustav - High TS/Cat 1, 70-85 mph Ike - High Cat 1, 85-95 mph Jimena - Low Cat 2, 95-105 mph (near max) Alex - High Cat 1, 85-95 mph Karl - Mid-high TS, 60-70 mph Irene - Mid-high TS, 55-65 mph Jova - High Cat 1/low Cat 2, 90-100 mph
Do you have any guess for the max sustained wind speeds you observed with Each storm. Its always interesting to hear from the person who was actually there.
Thanks very much-- I'm so glad you liked it that much! :)
Hey, thanks, man! I really did try to make it complete. It includes every chase since 2005 in which I shot video footage!
Ha ha ha, thanks very much! This is a really big compliment. I was hoping it would produce a little adrenaline. :)
Awesome-- I'm so glad the teaser piqued your interest! :) Thanks for watching it.
