  • I decided to try the Miracle Whip antenna to see how it performs on datamodes like FT8 and WSPR.
Using a Yaesu FT-817ND (2.5watts), Signalink and laptop I headed to a radio noise free area and get on the bands to make a few contacts.
The bands this antenna was tested on were: 30M, 20M, 15M and 6M.

Good fun and you did pretty well in compromised circumstances. A short whip, 1ft off the ground with trees blocking signal either side...that's quite a test and you got some good results. Would love to have seen how you would have done with a clear take-off. I've subscribed.

Operating these kinds of devices are a good exercise. They are no doubt a compromise antenna. But operators learn new techniques to make them work better and better. Nice to see these still around but used only. They still fetch a premium price when they show up on eBay. Fun to watch your video. 73’s de n5vwn

@MakingRadioWaves would you be able to send me a picture of the inside of your miracle whip while the dial is pointing at VHF? The knob fell of my antenna and since it is not a set knob, idk where to set it to make it point properly again. PM me and I can send you my email address. Help would be appreciated
