I remember watching this episode being aired as a teen. I got happy tears of joy seeing yugi's deck being used again through gx, even if it was being used by wannabe yugi aka dametri. Still brought me happy tears.
Well I also think how cards work in the anime world is different than in our world. I like to think every card that isn't a very middling normal monster (think like OG skull servant or basic insect middling) or very generic spells (think pot of greed, polymerization, or monster reborn) is incredibly rare, to the point where almost no one can build a complete deck of anything, and if you can you become known as THE elemental hero duelist or THE ancient gear duelist. So having a banlist of like 1 or 2 cards would make more sense in that regard, like you don't need to ban something like the God cards, only 1 guy has them, or like BLS, because no one is even sure it exists. It's also why almost no one plays multiples of any card, they can't find more than 1 copy anywhere.

It's because people can't see their face down card, so they can summon in defense position. This because the anime series try to aim the entertainment, not the competitiveness.
Let's be real. We all were like this in school playing the card game. Even though Dimitri was using an incomplete version of Yugi's Deck, nowadays, I would replace the Magnet Warriors in the Deck with the Reactors or The Meklord Emperors.
