He is not talking about combat sports. He is talking about martial arts, systems of combat meant for battle or self defense. A true martial art is a complete system that deals in weapons, striking, grappling, throwing, locking etc. He is addressing the fact that there are people who will jump system to system thinking they need to grab different skills from different arts when in fact many arts have already addressed this. This causes problems as the person does not build a solid foundation and thus whatever system they came up with for themselves will have many holes and issues. issues that have already been dealt with by masters in martial arts that already exist. And mixed martial arts are that hybrids, the fusion of 2 or more styles. Wing Chun is a hybrid Southern White Crane, Southern Tiger, Southern Dragon and Southern Snake. It is a mixed martial art. Uechi Ryu Karate is a hybrid of Southern Tiger, Southern Dragon, Southern Crane. Hapkido is a hybrid of Aikijujitsu and TaeKyon. Choy Li Fut is a hybrid of 3 styles. Okinawan styles of Karate are a hybrid of Okinawan Tegumi (Wrestling), Tuite (Locks), southern white crane. Eagle Claw kung fu is a hybrid of 2 styles. Mixing martial arts, hybridizing... it means the same thing, is not new. It is centuries old. The modern use of MMA is confined to combat sports, but the idea is not new as martial arts are about combat. This is what the master is talking about. He is not talking about sports because their training is not about the battlefield or self defense on the street. That is exactly what Kali deals with. It is already a complete system if you stay around long enough to find out.
There is nothing to mix as it is already a complete system. Just to name a few parts that make up Kali.. Solo Baston- Single stick, sword or spear. Doble Baston- Double stick or sword. Malayu Sibat - Spear Espada y Daga - Sword and Dagger. Daga y Daga - Knife to Knife Mano y Mano - Hand to Hand. Dumog - Grappling
I suspect he doesn't understand what is meant by "Mixed Martial Arts" in the contemporary sporting sense. He seemed to instead address the concept of "hybred martial arts" such as Kajukebo, Krav Maga, Bartitsu, etc.

Flawed analogy. Human movement is not hackneyed chemical analysis of foods. You don't have to be a physicist or engineer to drive a car--you simply have to use it. He would have told Bruce not to mix, also.
Very Wise master!!! GranTuhon Is the Way! PTK!!!!

Thank you for this upload, what an interesting point of view from the Master
the MMA is designed to knocked ur opponent out! the PKT is design to kill ur enemy.....that's the main diff..!!
PTK is quick technique to kill or disarmed enemy. You cannot mixed it wit other martial because it need speed and hand coordination.
