3-4 episodes a night, should make it pretty easy to catch up with the 1000+ episodes. Just take it slow and steady but constant. In any case, each episode is only roughly 20 minutes each. 200 episodes is roughly the time it would take to binge watch every MCU movie (to date).
Zef's leg is like Zaheer all over again. Lol Zef had two legs when he sent Sanji to the other side of the rock, when Sanji came back over Zef only had one leg.
A lot of your questions about the Pirate King, his relationships, why he came to be caught and his execution, are answered much, much later in the story.
u definitely have to watch the anime. i was a dbz kid so i passed on OP but now as an adult i appreciate it so much, its the show that has made me cry the most lol i promise the journey is so worth it
The fun part is that both Roronoa Zoro and Dracule Mihawk are to some extent inspired by the same real life 17th century French pirate, François l'Olonnais(Roronoa even being an obvious mispronunciation of his last name), which makes their rivalry even more interesting.
Pretty much all the questions you ask have answers and the series does at some point discuss or outright answer them. Hopefully the live action will be popular enough to get that far into the story because the greater plot of One Piece is a 25-years-old slow burn that still isn't done burning. 🙂
Regarding Roger being taken out by the marines, there is definitely an answer to that in the anime so that's why I highly recommend to continue your journey in the anime. Every questions and answers will make a lot of sense as you go along. There are other authors that excels in fights but what Oda differs from the other is his exceptional talent in Story telling, Plot, World-building and Characterization. One Piece is not just about luffy becoming king of the pirates, there are deeper themes and lore that comes along with, which I'm pretty sure you will guys love, if you continue watching the anime
In the world of one piece apparently the world is as big as the sun but just mostly water which is why people can't find the one piece. 85 days lost at sea isn't too crazy considering the fact.
In the original manga, Zeff eats his leg. At Baratie, the main villain was Don Krieg, but they skipped him to speed up the story, he was briefly taken out by Mihawk here, it doesn’t change the overall story, we just lose some fights and maybe some character development for Sanji. Spartan, there is a reason why Roger was captured, they tell it much later in the story, so there is an answer to that, but I don’t want to give you guys spoilers, just know that most things, will have an answer at some point ;)
lol anime watcher "I'm not convinced he did!" when Zeff 100% ate his own leg to ensure Sanji's survival. There's nothing else as different in the anime as the manga that I can think of, besides the general reordering of the story at the start of the East Blue saga. As a manga reader who has been caught up for the last 10 years, I would strongly suggest that rather than watching the anime, you go read the manga. You can read it at your own pace, and you'll probably find (as I do) that it's super easy to read 15-20 chapters a day. At that pace, it won't be even 2 months before you're caught up. Even if you go at only about 3 chapters a day, you'll be caught up within a year. There are arcs that won't be in the live action for the next 5 years that will blow your mind. Alternatively, there are some abridged, movie-length anime episodes that cover whole arcs but are far shorter (like, the Episode of East Blue) where a 90 minute episode covers this entire first season of live action equivalent in the anime. It's a bit closer to what the manga has, though the pacing is blistering. The manga on the other hand includes a ton of things that you won't see here in the live action because they didn't have time. Some of the live action changes are just way better than the original manga (Syrup village I'm looking at you), but the live action skips over a lot of character growth moments that are much more dramatic in the manga.
Zeff ate his leg. He was standing on 2 legs when he gave sanji the bag of food. The anime changed the story from the original manga to make Zeffirelli loose his leg while rescuing Sanji. The live action has reinstated the true version, which is Zeffirelli cannibalised himself to survive.
I understand why he would be confused about if Zeff ate his leg since he only saw the anime, where he didn't. But the live action made it incredibly obvious that that's what happened here. There was no room for confusion. It was stated. At that point, since he knows the live action isn’t the same as the anime, he should no longer be confused. I'm glad they enjoyed the live action so much. They're giving great reactions.
the line of "I expected someone bigger" "me too" is referring to how in manga proper Arlong is like 9 ft tall (the size scaling in the series is VERY out there, don't worry about it)
The One Piece live action follows the source material, which is the Manga, and in the Manga Zeff did eat is leg. In the Anime however he didn't. Instead he lost it while trying to save Sanji from drowning.
one thing that probably went completely over your heads is the fact that the one piece live action isn’t a live action of the anime but the manga so thats why zeff ate his own leg which he didn’t do in the anime for censorship reasons
Actually liked that they kept things from the manga in this. One of the reasons I feel the live action works so well is because the characters while different, have captured that heart from the manga and Anime. Still prefer the Anime because of the details, and things that were cut out, but its still a great adaptation. Would love to see your reactions to the Anime. Just for a reference an episode of the Anime is only around 20 mins, so 3 episodes really equals 1 episode of a modern tv show, so 1000 episodes isn't really as long as you think.
I believe the reason why Gold Morgan didn’t look as powerful as the other pirates is that it was 20 years before. The others were young or not born yet when he was alive, a legend was built up around him, you could tell by the way the spoke of him. Also all the pirates fought to be the best by any means, so they all got stronger and more deadly over time.
on the question of how the King of Pirates gets this title, when Roger found the One Piece, he called himself King of the Pirates, the One Piece treasure and its legend existed before Roger existed but no one believed it, but when Roger found it , he called himself Pirate King and said that the treasure exists.
Love your reactions! Zeff did eat his leg in the manga. The anime back then sencored it like many pointed out, making him lose his leg saving sa ji underwater. But the original is that he ate it. I love that live action stuck to the manga on that part and didn’t touch the backstories much. And you are right in the original Arlong is not there so early. And the “which one of you is arlong” part happens later, but it’s understandable that live action had to introduce him early for the overall suspense and build up. Of course original is cooler for me so I’d love you to see it again especially pudgy, you could watch it by sagas, and like only watch till where live action ends. Super sad you won’t be doing it. And yes manga and anime do show more of roger and the whole thing later, hopefully live action gets to those parts! You remember it right about sanji :D he uses his feet because a chef can’t hurt his hands! Also P.S. the first episode execution features some important characters in the crowd! Some you might not recognize because they appear later, but some you can recognize now as they appear in the live action.
I assume (or maybe it was mentioned in manga, don't remember, but i think it's just my opinion) that Roger gave up by himself when he became bored. Something about "when you already have everything you can dream about, there is nothing left to achieve"
If you guys are interested in Gol D. Roger's backstory, you can get every information you want... in the anime around episodes 950 up to the current arc. If you want to wait for the live action show... Probably season 10 and more. 😉😁
in the anime the leg eating scene was censored, in the manga he did eat his leg and dont worry that stuff ur wondering about theres an explanaition for everything in one piece
All of current One Piece could be covered in 12 seasons at this pace. A lot of what you're wondering has answers, just be patient. And Pudgey is definitely part of the crew, don't tell her otherwise. Luffy is OUR captain.
Why was the guy confused about Zeff eating his own leg as he clearly had two legs earlier in the episode on the rock before he sent Sanji off to the other side of the rock?
Cause he’s only knowledgeable about the anime, in which Zeff lost his leg a different way. He probably came into the backstory expecting it be exactly like that, since that’s the only version of the story he knows. So I don’t think he noticed that the first time, since he wasn’t paying attention to that detail.
Anime went the more censored version so surprise to you too lol also the question about how Roger should have been too strong to be killed so easily will be answered eventually. Maybe in 10 seasons who knows haha
In the manga Zeff ate his own leg. In the anime they had to make it less horrible/graphic for the kids so his leg got ripped off stuck on a chain while he was saving Sanji from drowning in the shipwreck. In the live action they stayed true to the manga, and he ate his own leg.
35:08 The anime has answered it. *SPOILER* Roger actually turned himself in. He *purposely* let himself be executed to start the Great Pirate Era. Also, he was dying anyway, if I remember correctly.
16:20 Either they all know who he is....or it's prejudice against fishmen acting up. I don't know if Zeff has those prejudices but as soon as he hears about one guest throwing another guest he knows there's trouble. Chances are he knows who Arlong is.
I asked the same question yesterday. They pointed out their community post from about 9 days ago stating that they were going to take about 2 weeks off and that their upload schedule would be slower and a bit different for a bit. I assume it will go back to normal eventually
I dont think they will adapt all of the anime but there is a certain arc that i can see where they can end the live action.. and i think its best if they go that route
You're assuming that only the King of the Pirates is that powerful. If theres someone just as powerful as Roger that is opposing him that could be the reason he was in the possession he was at the start.
You're not wrong about Arlong & Luffy fighting at Baratie. In the anime, Luffy fought Don Krieg at Baratie. Buggy also wasn't in this arc in the anime. He's here basically to replace Johnny & Yusaku, 2 very minor characters, who lead the crew to Nami after she dips . Gold Roger's back story about how he was captured doesn't come out for a while in the anime, like several hundreds of episodes. I can't see this show lasting long enough to get to it.
ok couple things....the studio that did attack on titan have a contract with Netflix to redo the anime starting soon, so better production and pacing with a lack of fillers, I'd just wait for that garp doesn't hate all pirates and he certainly didn't hate roger...they had a respect thing...garp straddles the gray not the black and white but he is still a navy man and sometimes he's forced to do things he doesn't like...hence the conversation with koby about why he's not fleet admiral
The speech between Kobi and Garp about Luffy been a Pirate is really interesting because it's a double meaning. One about Luffy in this fiction but the other is in the real life about the "LGBT thing". If you know the story of the actor who played Koby, it's really about this. It's really clever to talk about choice for the LGBT's community.
If you think luffy is getting slapped around now, boy are you in for a surprise in s2 he's really strong, but hes also a really inexperienced young boy with no propper combat training. Garp trained him how to survive and be strong, but he didn't train him how to fight.

3-4 episodes a night, should make it pretty easy to catch up with the 1000+ episodes. Just take it slow and steady but constant. In any case, each episode is only roughly 20 minutes each. 200 episodes is roughly the time it would take to binge watch every MCU movie (to date).
@agenttheater5 less then 20
Zef's leg is like Zaheer all over again. Lol Zef had two legs when he sent Sanji to the other side of the rock, when Sanji came back over Zef only had one leg.
If anyone is curious about what a veloute is, think of it as a light french gravy, basically thickened stock.
A lot of your questions about the Pirate King, his relationships, why he came to be caught and his execution, are answered much, much later in the story.
u definitely have to watch the anime. i was a dbz kid so i passed on OP but now as an adult i appreciate it so much, its the show that has made me cry the most lol i promise the journey is so worth it
If Mihawk wasn't still under immunity from the government, Garp would've definitely tossed his ass out into the sea lol
Loving this series keep it up guys
They have a plan to do six seasons of this live action show, covering roughly half of the existing source material.
Yeah, they definitely show how Gold Roger was caught and sentenced to death in the anime
The live action has reinstated the true version, which is Zeffirelli cannibalised himself to survive.
seff did eat his leg in the manga but it was censored in the anime.
Spartan I'm still not convinced he ate his leg! FML they said it blatantly!
the line of "I expected someone bigger" "me too" is referring to how in manga proper Arlong is like 9 ft tall (the size scaling in the series is VERY out there, don't worry about it)
The One Piece live action follows the source material, which is the Manga, and in the Manga Zeff did eat is leg.
I loved the last episode because of Mihawk, but this is the episode that made me realize that this series has so much to offer.
Episode 5, 6 & 7 are the best 3 for sure
I believe the reason why Gold Morgan didn’t look as powerful as the other pirates is that it was 20 years before. The others were young or not born yet when he was alive, a legend was built up around him, you could tell by the way the spoke of him. Also all the pirates fought to be the best by any means, so they all got stronger and more deadly over time.
12:46 He did. That’s how Zeff lost his leg in the manga. In the anime they censored it & had him lose his leg saving Sanji.
on the question of how the King of Pirates gets this title, when Roger found the One Piece, he called himself King of the Pirates, the One Piece treasure and its legend existed before Roger existed but no one believed it, but when Roger found it , he called himself Pirate King and said that the treasure exists.
He ate his leg in the Manga, but not in the anime. He did eat his leg in the live action as well.
The 🖤 Emotions is this Are Real but the Anime it’s sooo much More Depth on the Heart Strings
He's confused b/c Zeff didn't eat his leg in the anime.
Zeff ate his leg in the manga and in the anime he lost his leg saving Sanji
GARP is an absolute unit!!
18:19 Trust me, that’s Buggy in the manga now
Anime went the more censored version so surprise to you too lol also the question about how Roger should have been too strong to be killed so easily will be answered eventually. Maybe in 10 seasons who knows haha
The answer as to how the "King of the Pirates" got caught would be a huge spoiler. But rest assured there's an explanation for that.
Me still sad they forgot breaking bad reaction yesterday 😢
34:55 the anime DID answer that and i'd suggest continuing the anime in your own time. It's fire now.
12:33 OH LORD THAT'S FUNNY😭😭
The live action can catch up to where the anime is currently in 11-12 seasons
I love this episode so much, this show man😂😢
Zeff did ate his leg and Garp is luffy's grandpa. In the anime it was revealed much later.
12:46 In the anime he didn’t, but here, *and* in the manga, he did
Zeff ate his leg in the manga, the anime changed that.. eating his leg is much more impactful though, good thing they use it for the live action
yes zeff ate his leg, it was censored for the anime.
3:20 Conomi Islands
I expected Pudgey, not Spartan, to react to Sanji's bods 🤪 You're the first female reactor who didn't budge 😄
Mihawks observation haki is Offcharts
In the manga Zeff ate his own leg.
In the anime they had to make it less horrible/graphic for the kids so his leg got ripped off stuck on a chain while he was saving Sanji from drowning in the shipwreck.
In the live action they stayed true to the manga, and he ate his own leg.
35:08 The anime has answered it.
*SPOILER*
Roger actually turned himself in. He *purposely* let himself be executed to start the Great Pirate Era. Also, he was dying anyway, if I remember correctly.
The anime censored some things from the manga they didn't want kids to emulate at the time: Luffy stabbing his own face, Zef cutting her own leg etc.
If you watch the anime then you will know about Roger and his crew but it's still ongoing
“He looked like he was in good health”
The wait is over 🎉
Mihawk is not walking out of a fight against Garp clean, he'll be crawling
16:20 Either they all know who he is....or it's prejudice against fishmen acting up. I don't know if Zeff has those prejudices but as soon as he hears about one guest throwing another guest he knows there's trouble. Chances are he knows who Arlong is.
No Breaking Bad on Thursday? Was just wondering why there was no new episode. Will it only be Mondays from now on?
I asked the same question yesterday. They pointed out their community post from about 9 days ago stating that they were going to take about 2 weeks off and that their upload schedule would be slower and a bit different for a bit. I assume it will go back to normal eventually
The anime does in fact answer how the marine captured Gold Roger
“Was the other guy his father or something?” -- if you only knew!
I can't see this show lasting long enough to get to it.
ok couple things....the studio that did attack on titan have a contract with Netflix to redo the anime starting soon, so better production and pacing with a lack of fillers, I'd just wait for that
garp doesn't hate all pirates and he certainly didn't hate roger...they had a respect thing...garp straddles the gray not the black and white but he is still a navy man and sometimes he's forced to do things he doesn't like...hence the conversation with koby about why he's not fleet admiral
No spoilers of course. But Sanji's dad can eat a buffet of *****, Zeff is a real father to Sanji
13:35 He did eat his own leg.
Too bad Nami doesn't finish the story she tells Zoro. But I guess the sequel will be in, say, season 3. 😁
Milhawk know garp full name Monkey D. Garp thats why he knew luffy is his grandfather
I wonder if Spartan recognized Garp from 300.
If you think luffy is getting slapped around now, boy are you in for a surprise in s2 he's really strong, but hes also a really inexperienced young boy with no propper combat training. Garp trained him how to survive and be strong, but he didn't train him how to fight.
This was the Manga version. They change it in the anime
11:55
25:30
you can definetly watch the anime on the channel theres countless of reactors on youtube who watch the entirety of it on their channel
You guys will love the anime then
