It's so heartwarming to see KyoAni overcoming the hardship they went through and emerging even stronger than before, because 2nd season is IMO a huge improvement from the 1st one.

This sentiment really hit home when I finally watched the Violet Evergarden movie that was delayed to hell and back.
I just love how used to it Kobayashi is now, when she first saw dragons fight she was absolutely terrified but now she's just watching it without worrying for her safety
Admittedly, after taking a hit from Tohru’s dad and daring to stand up, I don’t think anything’s gonna scare her ever again 😅
Tohru vs Kanna is still my favorite fight.
Well, she is being protected by Fafnir. Otherwise, she should be worried about her safety. When he leaves, Tohru and Elma must be fighting pretty carefully to avoid doing something that could hurt Kobayashi.
She does specifically say after this that she's seen a lot of dragon fights, and she guess she's pretty used to them, but even so, this fight is particularly reassuring, somehow. She even guessed before the fighting started that this would be a good way for Tohru and Elma to get over their little feud. Fafnir was the one who thought that Elma was serious about trying to beat Tohru.
It's easier for dragons to express themselves this way, I guess.
The moment when Elma tells Tohru that she just wants to be friends again almost feels like a call back to how Kobayashi felt in the beginning
Not knowing how to respond to feelings of being wanted, what really makes it better though is she responds in a way that Kobayashi would too

Yes, that headpat is definitely Kobayashi's influence. It's very touching.
You know, I would never think a show about lesbian dragons would have great animation, character development, and emotion, but somehow it all came together perfectly.
To be fair, this isnt even the product the mangaka promised to make in the first place so no one saw this coming.

And then they proceeded to beat each other up again,but this time,it was just friendly sparring for their newly reborn friendship. I love this show so much!

1:04 Perfectly done. Show, don't tell. With the start of their descent they perfectly capture that weird sensation you get during a brutally emotional realization, that feeling like your heart is sinking into your stomach. Amazing choice. Tohru fighting for composure, rubbing her head in disbelief that she's been so blind to the situation and then putting her pride aside and apologizing with Kobayashi's patented signature headpat was a great touch. She's learned a lot. And watching marshmallow goofball Elma cry is just heartbreaking.

@@rs2527technically they don’t but they are together. I like that Tohru automatically loves everything about Kobayashi, but with Elma it feels like they truly fell in love with each other
What I also like about this scene is that the moment Fafnir realises that they've made up and aren't fighting to the death/seriously, that's the moment he leaves. He was there to make sure neither of them went too far and that Kobayashi was also safe as the mediator.
Just the usual. Friends sometimes have to fight incredibly destructive battles to get along again

Elma's VA was AMAZING this scene. The rage in 0:50 and the sadness in 1:24 are fantastic, give me chills. Kudos
This was by far my favourite episode of the entire show. The comedy was on point, the fight scene and visuals were insane, and Elma basically stole the show.
(I admit, Elma is my favourite of the dragons ever since she was introduced).

Not exactly animated more like incredible shading style that kyoani usually does or like in wondereggpriority but the animation was good as well in that scence
@@hinamatsuro1908 you're right. I often mishandle terms and lump them in. I generalize because when I talk to people in depth, they get a glazed look in their eyes and lose interest.
Slice-of-life moe, comedy, action, heart-wrenching emotional scenes. Kobayashi really has the potential to become a real classic.
Well, the first season was arguably a modern classic already.

1:00 I never realised that the moment Elma actually give the reason why she's angry with Tohru happen at the exact moment they both start to cease getting up, and actually fall back down.
A clever way to use the environnement to give the hair movements, and also to actually stop them from getting further and further away from the ground they both used to stand on, immediatly starting the process of them getting back together with a new understanding.
Not only is this episode the best episode of the season by a massive margin this episode is easily a masterpiece in all matters from voice acting to animation to character growth
Best WHOLESOME moment in the series EVER!
1:52 Tohru wants to cry but she still herself and to end this is better fighting each other instead of hug her and crying together.
She's so proud, definitely trying to hold her tears. In the end they both were being tsundere to each other all this time since they first met
I've been coming back to this for Elma's VA. She absolutely killed this scene.
This show has incredible animation for a slice of life.

I adore their friend relationship so much ah Elma and Thoru they are too cute and the animation of the fights are incredible ❤❤❤🛐
Ever think about how every other dragon is paired with a human and learns and grows through that relationship but Elma is just there to eat sweets. Relatable. I hope I find someone who loves and apreciates me as much as Elma loves limited time offer sweets from the train station. True relationship goals.

This episode went from fun calm antics to the most emotionally compelling fight and makeup of the entire series, that's Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid for you

I can understand what she means by that the food tasted better when Tohru was there, it was when she was with someone who she called a friend and that made the experience even better to be with someone than to be alone.
Its like losing a best friend..... Its sad how they changed just because they're in another phase of live..... I think tohru thought : elma doing it only for peace dragon community, and elma act like a god for human to achieve peace... But elma doing not only for achieving a peace, but to tell tohru its a place in peace condition that you can comfort and feels home..... Its like making home for dragon like tohru.... But then tohru angry how naive elma could be, to think she can make a peace home for dragon, especially a dragon like her a chaos dragon.......i often reward myself with a good food once in a while, just by myself, after finishing the food, its becoming lonely and sad, like how can i feel happiness if its just me, am i not good enough to have a friend to share this happy moment.... Even elma got everyfood she want, anything she eats with tohru has special place in her heart and memory
This is how real friends make up after years apart
that "Baka" from Elma VA just felt so damn organic, you can feel the stress behind the voice to have it sound the most natural for that situation.
It's rare when you get a a VA that manage to sell the sadness, desperation AND anger in one intonation and have it match up perfectly with what's showed on screen.
Always said a good fight normally knocks some sense into you especially in anime

Tohru then acting cold to Elma only and being hypocritical the whole time saying " I don't like humans" then proceeds to work with them then fall in love with one of them*

Everything was on point in this scene the animation the voice acting the directing everything was just pefect.
This scene legitimately made this episode my favorite of the series so far. Elma got so little focus in season one, so seeing her and Tohru in such a gorgeously animated and heartfelt scene hit all the right buttons for me.
Alice of Life with one of the best anime fights scenes and still a super heartfelt slice of life moment all for a “let’s be friends again” *LOVING IT*

There is one detail that I find very interesting. Tohru was/is living With humans, while Elma was living above humans.
Tohru practices what she preaches, even if she has a hard time getting the point across.
Yup. And to Elma, she never really thought too deeply about it, she just wanted to share good food with her best friend. The chaos dragon has such a strict moral code, and the harmony dragon just wanted to hang with her friend without thinking about moral philosophy.
I disagree to an extent. Elma was living alongside humans as well, just in a different way than Tohru. In exchange for her help the humans gave her delicious food to eat. That sounds like a fair deal if you ask me. I understand the issue was that Elma was put on a pedestal, but that's what happens when you have great power. War was inevitable either way, as we've seen throughout history humankind going to war for various reasons. While it's possible there was a chance that people broke out in war due to people choosing not to believe in Elma, I do think that's not giving Elma enough credit that she wouldn't have been diplomatic to resolve such matters, and use violence as a last resort. People to this day still use religion, and if Elma chooses to coexist along side those humans it's her choice. And for Tohru to get on Elma for what she did is to an extent hypocritical, as Torhu is now essentially simping for a human, the same way Elma did when given food. Elma was right to call Tohru out on that, and to Tohru's credit she did apologize.
Maybe One Day Boruto and Kawaki will destroy a place just to talk about their feelings, which would explain Post-Timeskip Konoha

This kinda reminds of my sister and I. She used to be so understanding and chill, gave me advice and everything. Until she met her boyfriend and became selfish and cold towards everybody. She was never really the same after a few years of dating. Now she’s rude and unwilling to hang out with our family without having to drag her boyfriend around everywhere. Everybody tells her what a bad influence he is to her but she won’t listen. I even told her that he was leading her to vape and do drugs. She just brushed me off. I miss my bestfriend.
At least you have something to miss. My sister has never liked me, even joking around about wanting to suffocate me to death as a baby and sea always been horribly manipulative and verbally and emotionally abusive, sometimes even physically. I just want so badly to have an older sister whom I could talk to and get advice on life as I grow up but that will never be the case. If it's up to me I'll move out one day and never see her again

Tohru's subtitle says "I'm sorry" though what she says, warukatta-literally "it was bad", is more in line with a mea culpa admission of fault. Given the context of Elma getting her feelings out there so strongly Tohru basically says "...I hurt you..."

Really love these moments, when two bitter enemies share their true feelings and reconcile into great friends. Elma really adored Kobayashi and all them feelings went out, love it!! Hoping we get some OVAs with them two doing random funny things.

I just found out why I liked the animations on the second season, especially this fight scene, it just felt oh so familiar.
So Kyoto Animation is back at it! The studio I love the most. The details in their art is so good especially with how they handle hair detailing.
