Agreed. My Dad owned a few old buildings in Buffalo. They were not maintained for 50 years. We did a lot of the same work that these two took on. I am too old to do this again. This is really hard, grunt work. You need a sense of humor because everything is 5X harder than you think.

Lincoln, it’s a huge job and you might not like doing the hedge, but you really do a terrific job on it. Amanda, I love your Italian grandma performance, it was the best ad for babbel!! I love your channel so much and I’m looking forward to your kitchen project for a couple reasons. One being, the enjoyment of watching the decision making and overall renovation, and secondly watching the renovation knowing how special the perfect kitchen will be for you, Amanda. With your great style and eye for elegant simplicity, I know this kitchen is going to be amazing. Hugs !!

8:00 Back in the old days storage, food preparation and washing up were typically in 3 separate spaces. Food preparation was typically done on a table in the middle of the space, rather than on a shallow countertop at the perimeter of the space. The "kitchen triangle" is a concept that didn't really make it into the mainstream until the 1950s. It's a workable model, but there are other approaches as well. I hope you can find a way to re-use those lovely old cabinets in the back hall. Best of luck with this next project, which really is one of the biggest you've taken on.

It must be annoying being a chef in a dysfunctional kitchen. It is a huge project, but I know you both will do an amazing job.
You playing your grandmother was hilarious. You have a great sense of humor.
The hedge looks fabulous. Well done, Lincoln. Gates in the middle will be awesome to access the field. The donkeys look happy. Enzo is my favorite. It was so cute, he was just sitting waiting for the door to open.❤

How nice of your grandma to visit! 🤣 How exciting that your kitchen is next to be beautified. I hope you will allow us to see the process, the good, the bad, and the ugly bits. If there is an original fireplace, I vote for restoring it. Nothing’s more charming than a fireplace in the kitchen. I know it’s going to be stunning when it’s finished! The basement stairs are a real conundrum. I wouldn’t want to lose the light pouring in through the window but the stairway to the basement is a possible broken body. I’m curious to see how you deal with that. Surely, safety and accessibility trumps original poor design. 😬 The boot room cabinets being placed elsewhere in the kitchen is guaranteed character and will look like they’ve always been there. I’m all for repurposing everything you can, just maybe not that ironing board! ❤

Let me say that I LOVE your channel. Having so many projects to do in and around your Chateau, I will have the pleasure of watching your channel for years. I love both your sense of humor and the animals too. I expect that you will have 100,000 subscribers in no time. The scenery is beautiful in all seasons. Keep up with your Italian and Lincoln with his French. One day, maybe, you can sneak in your children's feet or hands while running in the house, or with your drone, you can catch them running across the field. I am sensing you want to keep their faces off-camera, which I understand. Or maybe they are camera-shy. Have a blessed week and can't wait to see the next episode of "Our French Chateau".

I am so excited that you are putting in a new kitchen. When we bought our house 25 years ago after spending 20 odd years (and sometimes they were very odd) moving every two years across Canada and abroad. The first thing I wanted to do was put in a new kitchen. Well....... life got in the way and we put 4 kids thru university had a few medical emergencies I then finally got my new kitchen 2 years ago. I also love to cook and to bake and this kitchen is my dream kitchen. I love hosting big dinners for the family now that they are all out and on their own. The biggest thrill I have is to have tea parties with my two granddaughters and their little friends. It may have taken a long time but I smile every time I walk into to this sunny , bright and gorgeous room. I am so happy for you and by the way the hedge looks wonderful and the idea of an old gate opening into the field is a wonderful idea and just think Lincoln will be able to see it while he is doing the dishes.

Your impression of the Italian grandma was epic! I had a good laugh at that. You should be in community theater. The kitchen renovation is going to be great. If there was a fireplace in the kitchen, which it looks like it is, that would be great to restore that if you would still have enough room for cabinets and everything else you want to put in there. Even with the gutters cleared make sure down spouts drain well. They can get packed with leaves as well and will back up all the water. Which will spill over the edges of the gutters.

Put in a good sized pantry. For canning and preserving all the garden and summer produce. Those already cooked foods are great when you need fast dinners or homemade soups.
