Congratulations on your purchase. Right now the most expensive watch I could afford at the very most that I would spend is approximately $500 plus tax that’s all I could legitimately afford right now. Most of my watches are affordable watches the $150-$350 range.
There are incredible watches at all price levels. I’m certainly not moving away from more affordable watches. Just buying what I like. Unfortunately I like this one and it cost lots.
A beautiful watch James! I bought a vintage 1930’s Langendorf pilot watch a couple of years ago. It’s pretty much the same as your IWC. The bezel action on mine is exactly as you’ve described your flieger. I’d say it’s liquid smooth! Wear it with happiness mate!😎👍🏼
just got my miltado salmon/champagne dial. its a super affordable quartz version of the baltic mini rotor small seconds. also just got he WatchDives version of the seamaster 300 they make the best homage with the white dial version. ceramic dial insert and everything.
Yeah I am with you on this. The grail keeps changing haha! I guess its because we grow we grow as collectors. IWC is certainly grail worthy! Congratulations James! May you wear it in good health!
I have a clone of this watch; almost identical, right down to the portugieser movement. Looks great, keeps perfect time, and cost less than $100 I think, lol! Super high quality for a Chinese cloneage.
Great watch. From what I have seen of your channel, it is not a suprise. A perfect watch for you. Congratulations. I have always prefered Divers', but now I getting the pilot watch bug.
Really like how effortlessly you were able to tell your story. Well done video. That IWC is an incredible watch, but that Grand Seiko is something else! Hope you get that one on wrist someday!
@@WATCHingJames I just got back from Tokyo in late March, it was incredible! Picked up a GS from the Ginza Wako Flagship Boutique after visiting the Seiko Museum there. If you are open to used watches, Nakano Broadway is like DisneyWorld for watch nerds. The exchange rate between the Yen and USD is very favorable and the watch shops waive the tax on the transaction when you present your passport!
Okay, that is absolutely gorgeous. For a minute I was going to say "I'd prefer getting the Longines Pilot Majetek..." figuring there'd be a pretty huge difference in price, but turns out the IWC is only a bit more. And well, maybe I would still prefer the Longines, but now I honestly can't say, as there's elements of both I prefer over the other. This is a great watch. I absolutely love it. Congrats on getting a grail!
I love your IWC piece James. My grail is probably the IWC Portugueser white dial with blue indicies. Hopefully it will be mine soon! Love the vids mate 👍☺️
I love that one too. I was considering the hand wind version. But probably the 40mm auto would be the one for me. Not that I can afford another IWC anytime soon. 😂😂😂
@@WATCHingJames You made a great choice mate. I could name quite a few pieces I wish I could afford hahaha. I'll just have to keep watching UA-camrs wearing them instead 👍☺️
Congratulations, that is a great looking watch. Your collection has changed dramatically over the last year! I would be worried by potential service costs buying these second hand.
I have only one question. How did you get this one past the wife? About 6 years ago, I bought my first Hamilton, I still get the hairy eyeball to this day when I wear it. My grail watch is the Rolex Air King. If I brought one home, however, I would be keeping Jimmy Hoffa company. I bet like George Banks, you feel a surge of deep satisfaction, I know I would! Happy wrist gazing, James.
Have you considered getting the Hruodland F027 which is quite a close homage to this and do a comparison video? I think the gradient brown dial version is interesting.
I have a grail that is easily within reach, the Christopher Ward Aquitaine GMT. Unfortunately, I don't think I can justify spending that much. I would rather invest the money at this stage of my life. I also don't feel comfortable having something so expensive scratched.
@@WATCHingJames ok thanks I saw the watch listing in the video and the graph showing the price and changes over time which is why I assumed it was a website ... Thank you.
I’m in a little bit of shock and awe over this one.
Also trying to avoid looking at my now depleted bank balance 😳

Always nice to hear about unexpected grails and cautious purchases. I think these make the hobby more enjoyable.
I do too. Thanks for WATCHing
Just when I thought I'd seen all the IWC'S .
The pocket watch movement is the icing I'd say .
Now I need one!!!!!!
Hahahahahaha. It is particularly nice. I love it
Beautiful watch James! Absolutely fantastic
Thanks mate
As the saying goes "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" a lovely no regret purchase, congratulations James ENJOY.
Thank you. I am so happy with this watch. It was scary to pay up for it. But wow do I love it.
Really big fan of these simple pilot bezels. I wish more watches used them.
It is an incredible watch and a design I just love.
Thanks for WATCHing
This is incredible. Can’t stop looking. Congratulations.
I absolutely love it. It was a little scary buying it. But now very happy that I did.
Congrats! That’s a beauty. I don’t think IWC gets the love they deserve. The idea of an accidental grail is hilarious. 😃
Hahahahaha thank you
She’s a beauty James. Great purchase. Look forward to the in-depth review. You are getting a few high end watches in your collection lately.
It is a worry. But I’m enjoying them. But also trying to be careful not to go silly with it.
Maate! That movement is OARSUM!
Impressed with the new mic audio quality, booming has gone 👍🏻🦘
Thank you. Finally got it sorted.

Thanks for this! Be looking to add an IWC to my collection and came across one of these a few days ago.... so much closer now.
It is a very nice watch. I’m wearing mine all the time.

I am still surprised how much I like pilots. And for me this is the ultimate.
Loving it so far
Very nice, you should keep this as an heirloom. The bezel reminds me of Hanhart…
It is truly incredible.
Congratulations on the find
Thank you. I love it

Thank you. I do still see the GS in my future. Thinking of going to Japan next year and this may be a good time to buy one.

I have been researching places to go. But wondering about the tax. So thank you.
Very nice watch, congrats!!!
Ps. The movement is in fact an ETA 6498, obviously a very good one.
It is a beautiful movement. There are a few special features that I will show if in the review
A beautiful watch, enjoy your new purchase!
Aa a pilot watch enthusiast, I would have considered Hamilton khaki aviation pioneer in bronze…
I do like the pioneer range as well. Lovely looking watches.
Congratulations!!!!!
Thank you. I love it
That is a really great watch. Congrats!

Great watch, great size, I know a lot of people are scared of big watches but they are wrong.

This one was just serviced at IWC Switzerland. Receipt provided.
Which was also a part of my buying decision
@@WATCHingJames That makes a big difference 👍
The stitching on the strap looks askew, but I suppose that's part of the charm.

My bank balance said no🥲
Btw enjoy that vintage style beauty🙌🏽👍🏽

She knew that it was funded by the sale
Of other watches. (Mostly) so she is ok with it.

It is already on my Wishlist. It would be very interesting to be able to compare them.
I hate when I'm looking at a watch online and oops I get a spasm in my finger and accidentally click add to cart and purchase now.
It keeps happening to me

I know that feeling too.
It’s hard to justify the price when there are more important life experiences.
That Christopher ward however…… very nice 😁
Well, it isn't a Casio but I guess it'll do.
Thanks for WATCHing
Nice watch but there so much copy,of course who dont have his quality but i dont know if i will be ready to put the price they ask for this watch...
I’m actually interested to see some of the homages of it.
Tip.
Don’t look at watches after drinking alcohol. 🍷 🍺
Very good tip which we should all be aware of.
Lidl baltany

James where are you tracking your watch prices?
Perhaps in lala land. Hahahahaha.
I have it all listed on a spread sheet. Watches in and out. Cost to buy and amount sold for.
@@WATCHingJames ok thanks I saw the watch listing in the video and the graph showing the price and changes over time which is why I assumed it was a website ... Thank you.
Mate, it's $$$$$...
I know….. scary
@WATCHingJames You're all right there, my friend. And you have great taste in watches.
