I really liked the fact at how he treated the house staff not just putting the in some dormitory style but, individual rooms and some comforts of home life. Once again in seeing theses stories you see how much love is between husband and wife that when one dies it is not long after the other dies as well. One can not live with out the other.
I love the interior of this house, beautiful! I was amazed at the recessed lighting….and the thoughtfulness of having quarters for his staff that made them feel more at home that wasn’t common during that time.
I especially loved the staircase. I’m glad that it is still standing today because these homes deserve to endure, even if the interiors have been changed. Ideally they’d be preserved as museums, but serving another purpose like this one is sounds much better than demolition!
The craftsmanship in these old houses is unmatched in today’s world. Glad this house is still standing and being used. My favorite was the room with stenciling.
The stairs and stair hall are my favorite part although the house, it's design and execution and final result are probably one of nicest I've seen to date. Wonderful to see it still mostly intact and living on in usefulness. Thanks, Ken a very nice presentation 👍
Now THAT is an Entrance Hall & Stair! I note so many of the Grand Homes featured lately, have the Stairs tucked away in a corner of a Foyer - unbecoming, at best - thank you for your efforts - much appreciated! A Grand Home, indeed ...
I just realized a reason for my lack of success. I finished school. It seems the millionaires of history were smarter than 20th century kids. Good report, Ken.
Pink sandstone? quite remarkable! Good for him! Kudos to him!!! Intricate rococo details, a bit much for today's taste, but still quite amazing!! even if overdone! Heck, the whole house was my favorite, not just one room!
Nice to see you do a house from Canada Ken! Some beautiful rooms and a grande facade ! Maybe you could check into Casa Loma in Toronto. Scottish castle brought over stone by stone and rebuilt! The original owner ran out of money before it was completed!
So nice that it's been preserved! But I always wonder, with all the paintings, furniture, & "Knick-knacks" - what happens to all of it? Having watched all these homes demolished, what happens to the metals, wood, etc.?
I love your channel and the houses that you review. Have you ever been to Dubuque Iowa? There are some gorgeous Redstone's and Queen Ann style mansions and many mansions from the civil war ara.
I love seeing these homes and although I find them fascinating I never think oh I wish this was mine. They’re always (or mostly, as it was the style back then) very dark in them. I feel very depressed if I’m in them to long!
I'm glad this old house still stands and is being used by the University. Unlike many old homes of stature, that have seen the wrecking ball. I hope it is used for another generation to admire!
I love the use of recessed lighting in the home, very interesting to see. Have any parts of the interior been preserved or does only the original facade remain?
My favorite is the Gothic dining room! I can't imagine companies and corporations today giving someone at the bottom of the hierarchy any acknowledgment much less being promoted to the level that he was.

I always appreciate, Ken, that you include modern day equivalents when it comes to pricing. It truly puts the amount of money into perspective.
As a Canadian (who lived in Montréal)… I love learning about Canadian history. Thanks for another short, but very interesting, history lesson. Cheers.
What a grand old mansion!! It's wonderful to know that it still exists today!!! Thanks for sharing another interesting video!!! 👍👍🙂
Love Canadians they saved this beautiful history! 🇨🇦🍁

Yes, my thoughts exactly.
Another beautiful mansion preserved. I wonder if the paintings still exists. As I love old mansions I'm very happy to see this.

The clever use of lighting was my favorite aspect of this mansion. The library was my favorite room.
The staircase and then that wonderfull dining room! Thank you so much Ken.
I love your channel and look forward to every posting. Thank you for your efforts.

I love the bathroom. It is a beautiful house. Thank you for sharing!
Always enjoy your video tours and commentary. Thank you, Ken!

Beautiful. Thank you.
I love the majestic staircase. I could just imagine a bride coming slowly down it to stand beside her groom!
Really an amazing home. The staircases had a feel that reminded me of the Titanic.
Very nice.
Thank you.
Very interesting, I was not familiar with this structure. Glad to hear it still stands, albeit greatly altered .

Do Grosse Pointe's War Memorial please. Located very close to Rose Terrace.

Love the staircase and library.
Would love to see an episode on Casa Loma.
Oh, that library.
Be still my heart.

I would like 2 c the mansions of Grosse Pointe. R any of them lived in today??
@3:05 The wooden chair on the right was the toilet.
I named my mare Rooster after you. 😎

He was not just anybody!
It’s nice that he took care of his servants. He never forgot his beginnings.
Can you do a video on Pittsburgh’s Wilpen Hall? Still standing
If you're still in Montreal, go to Chateau Dufrene.
100 years ago there was no sense of entitlement. We knew no work, no eat. That’s why you could have no education and become a millionaire.
Wow 😮
Oh how I wish the pictures were in color. (sigh) Beautiful mansion.
The. Dinning. Room. Is. My. Favorite
And another grand old house dodged the bulldozer!
The dining room
Looks haunted
Got excited when I saw Hosmer lol but he definitely doesn't play baseball lol
Nice video. Someone gave you presentation lessons. First one I've watched without your quintessential 'up speak'. Much better deliveey.
😲
Wonderful channel. So the son married for show. He was gay.
It was just a phase..
So were both of Hosmer's children gay??
Victorian interior design strikes again… unfortunately.
What did you expect, Danish Modern? 🙄
What deliciousness do you have for us today, ✨🤍✨
