Many thanks for the review. I got mine a few days ago. For anyone watching and doubting durability of this thing, please note the manufacturer has an 18 month warranty period for this device. The power requirements of a headphone amplifier are calculated based on the headphone continuous power ratings. Just because you have a pair 32 ohms headphones doesn't mean you don't need a headphone amplifier or you can get by with any headphone amplifier. As an example, one of my headphones are rated for 200 mW continuous power and 3500 mW peak power at 32 ohms, but in fact, those headphones can go up to 50 ohms, so one can not expect it to be properly powered by just about anything (like a smartphone or a laptop). First you need to know your sources lowest output level, then calculate the minimum gain required to bring the headphones to their rated power capacity and, on that, add at least 3 dB and up to 6 dB of gain to serve as power reserves. So, you see, if your source player output level is 2 Vrms and your headphones need 3.16 Vrms to reach their rated power capacity, the amplifier has to offer a minimum gain of at least 3.97 dB. Add to this value a headroom of 6 dB (power reserve) and suddenly the amplifier has to deliver 10 dB of gain, which means that it has to be able to deliver 800 mW continuous at 50 ohms with 6.32 Vrms. An headphone amplifier like the one presented in the current review will never be able to drive my headphones at their best.

You are very right Simon. I bought one of these, and it went wrong early on, and I could not arrange to get a refund at the time. That was in 2019, so I only had a tiny amount of use from this. I believe it uses cheap capacitors as the sound starts out very good, but deteriorates very quickly into crackling and low volume. I spoke to someone who is knowledgable about electronics who told me it's likely to do with low-grade components, especially capacitors. I don't know for sure, but many products like this look almost identical and it wouldn't surprise me if they are made in the same factories using the same circuit boards. It's a real shame because they are a neat little unit.
If you want to squeeze every last ounce of sound quality out of your sundaras get the THX Onyx dongle DAC. It pairs amazingly well with the Sudaras and is my daily driver for listening to music and UA-cam videos on my iPad. For the iPhone the Klipsch wireless earbuds are amazing. I don’t think so, you still need a phono stage for your TT, unless it’s built in. You could connect it if it has a RCA to 3.5 in this but I just don’t know if it will sound good. But now that I think of it, I have used my little bear tube headphone amp with my TT and it does work, so give it a shot
Hi Andres, can you use the mic on the Koss with this?
I ask because I'm looking for something like this to use my headset with mic. Also, can this plugged to avoid running out of power?
Yes!
@@FranciscoJMeza-pl7my no it won’t power your headphones
Hi, try XDuoo XQ-20 amp and it's tiny you might like it.
Thanks, I'll take a look.
You could've added more and get topping nx1s which is better
I literally JUST got mine in the mail and have it charging at the moment. I am so amp'd (PUN INTENDED !! Lol...) to plug my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones into this baby and try it out !! Awesome video, man !!
sweet, let me know how it goes, it's not prefect, but for $30 I think it's great.
@@AndresSalazararthub WOW !!! I give these a DEFINITE 2 thumbs up !!! You were spot-on about the patch cord that came with it being junk. I set them aside (like...in the trash...lol) and used one of my good quality cords. The only other thing I noticed that could be a problem...but not a major one... I get a buzz/hum when I touch the aluminum housing while I have the music paused. Sounds like a "grounding" problem ?
Can I use this for a gaming headset and still be able to use the mic to talk to others?
hmm.. I think so, it shouldn't change that.
Does this work well with the Monoprice Retro's? Does it improve their bass response?
So, I think the Retro's have decent bass, I'm not sure if this makes the bass better, it's really just amp'ing everything up and making it louder, which for some headphones really improved it, like my Sundara's or HD6XX, but I can't say for sure that the Retros have better bass matched with this. They are louder, that's for sure.
you should set up your affiliate with this product. im sure youve sole a few. im buying one now
I wish I could. Amazon can go suck eggs, they kicked me out of their program and I can't figure out how to back in their good graces, F 'em
would you recommend this for phones? my last phone was louder than the phone i got now and Im super disapointed on the low sound...
yes, that's exactly what I would use it for.
@@AndresSalazararthub thanks im getting one

thanks for watching
just bought one cant wait to try!
Cool hope if works for ya
PS. Watch out for the quality control on this item - make sure, if you buy, you get it from somewhere where returns are gonna be a breeze.
Is it Bluetooth ?
Nope
Hi. Sir is there noticable bass boost in these headphone amp?
no there is no "bass Boost" button, the volume change is across the spectrum
they're a tad bit warm. so you might hear a smidge elevated bass.
They are basically water proof and they sound really good for wireless IEMs. On the cheaper side the Skullcandy EVOs are also really good ($50).
thanks!
Does it DAC?
Nope just amp
I just ordered the Neotek Dac for $21.99 today from Amazon just to try it out so I can compare it to the Schiit Modi 3+ & Magni 3+ 🤦🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
Let me know how it is!,
@@ArtofComics Will do!!! You said you have another channel but I can't find it??? I wanted to subscribe to show some support!!!
40mw op 16ohm zeg je dat dat hobbels zijn? Ik kocht een tweedehands FIIO E12 voor 45dol. met 880mw op 32ohm ..... dat is vuur :). But, its true that China copy's for 1/3 of the price and thats simular of the quality. I bought a Chinese tube amp for 300dollar and that sounds great and simular to my 1098dollar France amp
Kinda pissed about my hd400s going out
that sucks
How can you put together an audio gear review and not even let us hear it?!?
well biscuit, I'm just crazy like that. Any music I put gets dinged on youtube and I haven't figured out how to get around that. plus, how do I let you listen to something on my headphones? Yeah I can line-in on my PC, but that still won't sound right. double-plus, youtube compressed the sound like a mofo, so you never really get good audio on this platform. :) thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
Theyd need one of those headphone recorder ear things which cost alot of money and even then youtube compressed the audio anyways
I love that your reviewing cheap Chinese stuff. You can really find some good deals but you have to be willing to try stuff and fail. I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing some more Chinese finds through your channel. The only thing I would suggest is that you go over the specs of the items because they may not be the determining factor as to whether an item sounds good but it gives us a point of reference to start to contemplate whether an item is right for us. But thanks for the video hope to see more in the future!
Thank you and I will make a note of that to get more into those specs
Yabuy Aluminum Portable Headset Amplifier HiFi Audio Headphone Amplifier Sound Improver AMP 600mAh $15
Beware, this does not work with a USB-C to 3.5mm, no sound.
That I don’t know. You might need a DAC. This is just amplifying sound, analog
Have good pair of headphones and your in for a big treat.
SADLY YOUR LINK IS TO AN ELECTRIC BIKE I WANT THE LINK FOR THE AMP VERY STUPID TO HAVE TO WORK SO HARD TO FIND THE ITEM YOU ARE UNBOXING AND YOU DO NOT EVEN HAVE A LINK IN THE DESCRIPTION FOR THE ITEM HOW IS THIS SUPPOSE TO HELP ME FIND ONE ?
Bro, Amazon took my off their affiliates program so I had to remove all my links, sorry.
But tell us the model and brand please
Dude, you cracked me up, I’m buying one just because your review made me laugh. We would get along well. Thanks!
