In 1991, Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins, opened a new game studio called, The 3DO Company. 3DO operated from 1991 - 2003, and made a breakthrough with console gaming. The Panasonic 3DO was an early 3D disc based system, featuring a hefty price tag. After the failure of the 3DO, and the Panasonic M2 never being released. In 1998, The 3DO Company became a third party developer. Their first major hit was Army Men on the PC, and this is their logo used.
