The catalytic converter is the disk inside the inlet side. You saw it and called it a spark arrestor. The spark arrestor is a screen in the outlet. The fiberglass is the packing. Very typical on off-road vehicles.
You need Glasses Chief, when you hold the Muffler up @11:39 you can clearly see the Catalytic Converter in the feed pipe! Thats not a Spark Arrester THATS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER, it's made of PLATINUM!!!
You have never looked inside a Cat Converter before, if you had you would know that is a Catalytic Converter! That Muffler you just paid $750 for is the exact same thing with the Cat removed and two smaller outlets in stead of one bigger one!
No catalytic converter. It is like you say; 1st is spark arrestor, 2nd is the expansion chamber, 3rd is the muffler or their concept followed by a final spark arrestor. For 30+ the catalytic converter is made with a honey-comp shaped ceramic material that has 3 Nobel metals washed, baked, etc into this grid that all of the exhaust has to pass thru. Basically, if their is one 02 sensor in front between the engine and this device and no second 02 = no cat. If it had a second 02, then it has a cat inside. The second 02 is only there to monitor the converters performance only. Front O2 tells the computer to make it lean or richer, controlling the proper air/fuel mixture. The cats job is to store oxygen when lean & release it when rich. Other cat design materials maybe used but the ceramic honeycomb type is the most efficient.
That’s my thoughts on the O2 sensor thing. I always thought there where 2 if you had a converter. Sure wish I would have broke it down further. Oh well.
I am absolutely sure there is no cat inside the original muffler. I was fascinated to watch your efforts and uncover the insides. No wonder it was loud, it’s mostly empty. The blue covered wire bundle goes to the only O2 sensor on your UTV. I really enjoy answering that question and you did very well. P.S. I hope your two fingers get better, but it is a never in that elbow that become irritated after a tendon starts rubbing it. It is easy for a Dr. to do a simple test at the elbow by pushing a finger into the outside of the elbow joint. We are getting old buddy and repetitive use causes it. It is like a wheel bearing you can’t grease. It starts to go bad after 58 years! Take care. I am a 6’3” lefty as well, just 63 years young.
That vehicle would not be approved for sale in the US if it did not have a Cat! Thats it, I'm a Licensed Motorcycle Mechanic and I take them off Bikes every second day and throw them in the bin!
@@jarnosaarinen4583 I understand, but motorcycles compared to UTV’s is a different world. The rules are different, the class is different! I saw the same thing on passenger cars compared to trucks! Tight rules, regulations & specs on cars but not for trucks. Even imports, as they met emissions standards in 1972, but domestic cars did not! The had 3-way “Bead Type” cat’s on them that required unleaded fuel. Imports like Datsun had not cats or unleaded restrictors in the filler neck until July of 1979! Anything made after that production date had cats & required unleaded fuels. Stickers on gas gauge and sticker on fuel filler caps came after July 1979. I know because one of many jobs at the dealer was checking them into inventory off a transport. Look it up! There is no dealer part number for a Datsun 280ZX in 1978, but was, if the production date was after July 1979. NIASE Master Tech since 1978.
@@jarnosaarinen4583 Different class of motor vehicle as off road required spark arrestor only. It is not my rules, but CARB. If you don’t know what that stands for, then don’t comment...after you look it up! Their is a difference between a tech and tree hugger.
Is there a Converter In This Muffler?? Please Point it out for me because Im STUPID!!!! On the other hand check out the Merch. Shelf above this comment and show your support .. Thanks for watching!
I see simply a regular straight through exhaust with just one large baffle and one small spark arrester in the exhaust tip. The insulation is only there to quiet the barking dogs voice from echoing off the can of the muffler. That is one very expensive video Pete considering there was absolutely nothing wrong with that very expensive muffler.
I think a straight thru glass pack muffler has 3 time the fiberglass than this thing had in it. The manufacturer thought would would sell more high end 6 speaker stereo systems to over come the noise. I think a helmet with a volume controlled Bluetooth would be a much better option. But, that would cost them $3.18 extra for that $400 helmet feature each. Stay safe my friend! God bless!
Pete its tony from Cleveland. We made it home safe and the mines and trail maps you drew us were perfect 👌 .🍔🥤🍟....seen that same pic at the mine too. Tell Minnie we are sorry we didn't get to meet her, the wife says next time. She wants to go to a church when we come again so maybe Minnie can show her a good one. Thanks again. If its cool ill send a cpl pics to your email of us at the mine maybe you can use it as a story or content maybe not. But it was a blast anyways. Hole in the wall was closed, bummer. But the rest was great thanks and be safe out there . Keep the rubber side down....
You should find out if you’re paying for a catalytic converter on something that’s not there contact the factory and ask call Parts see if Parts can tell you if there’s one in there call him and let him know you owe me money back because I didn’t I paid for a catalytic converter and it’s not here stealing money
I HAVE A FEELING THAT PETE IS ABOUT TO BE EVEN MORE FAMOUS THAN HE ALREADY IS . LIKE ELVIS FAMOUS . LIKE ENGLEBERT HUMPERDINK FAMOUS. LIKE MOJO NIXON FAMOUS .. LIKE FAMOUS AMOS FAMOUS . HOMBRE .
I’m not into atv’s or other off road vehicles. Those are money hungry toys that break down. I kinda think people who are into those aren’t into riding, they’re into “fixing “.🤡🤡👍
Damn Pete that seems like a big muffler for that thing !!! But I guess it needs to be to shove all that restrictive bullshit in there. I bet it sounds completely different without a sleeping bag clogging the exhaust.
It's supposed to be 2" thick honeycomb....cut the curved pipe off outside of the muffler that doesn't have the flange. Looking in that end of the muffler you should see the honeycomb. DON'T disturb it...the material inside the CAT is deadly to your lungs...Nasty, nasty stuff.
Another greedy idea of companies to sell you exhaust , buying the UTV is the cheap part wait till start buying accessories that’s the expensive part !!!

It is in the 90 entering the muffler
It looks like that the only converter inside of it is when you cut it open and converted it to scrap. 😁
It’s been a lot of fun following you two over the years,learned a lot,laughed a lot,cursed a little.Thanks Pete.
So much misinformation in one video ! 🤦♂️
definitely a cat in that when you pointed at what you thought was a spark arrestor. looks just like a typical modern motorcycle cat
OMG!!!!!: Please take those generic O'Reilly's stickers off that beast. You got $900 shocks and $2.99 stickers.🤨
The catalytic convertor looks like a honeycomb material, it’s would break up into chunks if it’s in there. All I see insulation.

Yes my friend Pete that is a catalytic converter in there, its obviously small though. Pretty interesting though and now we know.
hey pete maxxthrottletv on yt has a video on converter removal.
That Muffler you just paid $750 for is identical to the old one only it has not had the Cat Installed! And the outlet is a little bit different!
Could really use a SWRNC zip up sweater, how do I go about getting one My friend Pete ?
You need to learn what one looks like. It’s that honeycomb looking part you called a spark arrestor.
I have a RZR Turbo S (2020). The cat is part of the header pipe, not in the oem muffler. Not sure if its the same on these

Did it stink like rotten eggs when you got on it cold? I don't think it has a converter?

It's not a spark arrester, it's a Cat Converter.
Thats a lot of work just to do it wrong, and show us you haven’t a clue.
How does Minnie like all the modifications you made to HER razor. Lol
Noted. Buy a can am, not a rzr since everything seems to collapse on these…

You work on cars but obviously don't know what a catalytic converter looks like. You pointed right to it on the inlet side.
Holy SH_T !!!!!! $900 for shocks??? For a RZR !!!!!????? My goodness. Spend you some money brother. I hear you.
I HAVE A FEELING THAT PETE IS ABOUT TO BE EVEN MORE FAMOUS THAN HE ALREADY IS . LIKE ELVIS FAMOUS . LIKE ENGLEBERT HUMPERDINK FAMOUS. LIKE MOJO NIXON FAMOUS .. LIKE FAMOUS AMOS FAMOUS . HOMBRE .
So basically it's not a Polaris anymore it's a My Friend Pete rig
At the inlet
It’s in there look harder and not what you looking at
Its in the in pipe is very small2 inch diameter cat
So you got 35 grand in it
I’m not into atv’s or other off road vehicles. Those are money hungry toys that break down. I kinda think people who are into those aren’t into riding, they’re into “fixing “.🤡🤡👍
Nice rig Pete
I could be wrong I'm not a sxs wiz. But my experience on automobiles no 02 sensor no converter. Usually the 02 is threaded into the converter.
Thought you were going to sell the piece of shit
You should be working on customers cars not working on your toys 😅
Damn Pete that seems like a big muffler for that thing !!! But I guess it needs to be to shove all that restrictive bullshit in there. I bet it sounds completely different without a sleeping bag clogging the exhaust.
About 5k worth of goodies...nice

Pete your a clown act but I like that hahaha.
That’s 1000% bs on the springs , that a rip,off..
Another greedy idea of companies to sell you exhaust , buying the UTV is the cheap part wait till start buying accessories that’s the expensive part !!!
AGREE 100%. Aftermarket total rip-off scam
Generally a catalytic converter looks like a porcelain honeycomb.
EPA is gonna get you now
You have busted the myth and the propaganda!! Thanks for the demonstration!! Good work!! LOL 😂😂😂👍👍👍🙅🔔🔥🙌😳
Hi Pete!
Tried send you a covid clip on fb messenger.scary shit
