In the Zerg tech tree, unit production is entirely dependent on buildings. The Protoss tech tree has some building dependencies for unit production, but also have separate buildings for infantry, mech, and air, so it's kind of a hybrid. Following this pattern, the Terran tech tree should be the opposite of the Zerg, with no building dependencies for unit production, other than the tech lab add-on. Other buildings should only enable unit abilities. For example, you can make ghosts, but you need a nuclear silo to enable nuclear strike. You can make battlecruisers, but you need a fusion core to enable Yamato cannon, and/or tactical jump.
I feel validated about just never having had a single bit of interest in that game, I kept thinking "oh well, Thermy made some videos, I should go look..." and then off to watch him kill people with Widow Mines or Thors or sth.
I tried Battle Aces, tried Stormgate, and I'm actually waiting for Immortals: Pyre. I'm not sure why casters aren't more hyped about that one, perhaps they aren't getting that golden paycheck. for me it's not about the popularity. As I'm 35, for me another RTS is not what comes next, it's actually the soul of RTS that I have been missing. Games like Empire Earth, Cossacks, Dune, (sure SC1) but even the C&C saga there is the question: Why do all game makers try to recreate a better form of what is already (recently) done? With Immortals it seems they are creating a game that hasn't been around for 20+ years.
So happy to see your They Are Billions turn tbh, it's got tons of Jank but the core gameplay is just such a satisfying mix of military management and city builder. Typically most games stick pretty close to one or the other, and there's reasons for that, which campaign missions that focus on one or the other exclusively reveal pretty fast, *but* it's just good. Would love to see you end up on like 900 percent win-streak runs or doing the final campaign mission all-rangers or some sort of absurdity one day.
I have not been Less interested in a game(SG) since cyberpunk. Your SC is bangin' as always. Hope something better for you pros comes fast before SG gets a hold of too many people. =))
this wacation deprivation happens to people that dont ride bicycle, its hard for me to not take vacation, even when i come home more tired and then rest in work, but cycling in Italy for 7 days and then 3 days at the beach is like i get ticks if I dont do that :D
Stuff getting nerfed doesn't make sense like, in-world. Like why would terran engineers over time be like, this mine is extremely powerful, let's remove it's ability to cloak and make the enemy see when they're being targeted!
The various races figure out how to spot traces of where they are buried or have come up with ways to detect buried ones, and are able to calculate from its emissions when it goes active what it is targeting. It's usually not hard to "lore justify" anything, and lots of weapons throughout history have lost effectiveness as the people subject to them evolve countermeasures.
Marc talking about vacations makes me sad. I understand people need to work. We need food and products etc. But as a society we've come so far that you would think we could find a way for people to have a better work life balance. The rich get richer and the rest of us slave away. And I get the irony of me sitting here now working and watching Marc own people with Thors.
Unfortunately, the bureaucrats decided that they would rather live fat on taxes, printed money, and donations from their corporate friends. If you want to see everything wrong with the world, see what the bureaucrats in capital cities want, vote for, and have their media friends tell sob stories about.
Our society is kinda broken tbh. Lets be real, most products are cloe to useless for us. The only thing you really need is shelter, safety and food as well as some entertainment. The problem is everyone needs to earn money somehow, and one way to do that is to sell stuff no one needs and pretend that they need it. "We buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like.”
Oh, absolutely. Given the improvements in technology and productivity, we literally should have like two-hour work days for most jobs. If that. Instead everyone got more productive and yet the expectations for how long and hard you worked stayed the same or got way, way worse. While wages remained exactly the same, adjusted for inflation, over decades. And funny enough, that started really intensifying exactly when labor struggles died off and the Cold War ended.
blizzard hired a ton of mathematicians, one i knew from the best engeniering school here in my city in chile, they flew him from chile, put him in a house and had him doing math for 14 hours a day while they mocked him for being latin. still, those level of maths are not in stormgate.
never really liked thors because it feels so clunky to use but isnt it a great unit vs. protoss that just spam colosus+stalkers? it pretty much can fight those units without problem. what's the downside of using it vs. protoss? i always hear casters say mech is bad vs. protoss tho.
So celestials unique means to move around and proxy is a problem... but it could be fixed with a gradient ratio, where your mining is much worse from remote places and increased if you mine locally to your mobile base, this then limits the movement of your base, but allows you to move and expand still.. this hten makes it might be better to be more sedentary.. as the game goes on this can balance out a bit... This would be an attempt of makign a unique fix, without impacting its unique ability. This would be essential, like most games, you make it a normal speed setting for easy balancing nad slow play, then make it much faster later... its way to slow for online... This way the main base has a proxy means or mining that is normal and hte further the main gets away the worse the income, this would slow down the rss so it would force htem to manage the proxy differently... cost and benefit ratio.... As you get more bases they have a ratio -1 that enhances mining, so as time goes on if you have 5 mining areas, you would still be mining normally without the permananet rss effect from the distant mining, (forcing locla proxy based on mining #) This can be eventually 1, based on a max on the total mining, without hten the need fo the main base being close to the mining source. Maybe give them a larger benefit of x percent above max income with more bases, + 3% with x bases over 3. + 1. 1 base - penalty to mining without your main base within a x distance and its a gradient field. 2 - bases, the penalty is less, 3 bases - becomes more normalized.. etc etc. by around 5 bases, there is no mining penalty. at 6 bases you have + rss.. but htis could be changed to 5 that you get a bonus benefit and no need of a pentalty with your commande,r but at that point if yo uahve 5 bases the game is a long end game... but yeah.... bit imbalanced, since its not really computating a rss managment.,
What wins, a big goofy laser giraffe, or a literal Thunder God?

0:59 Truth about Stormgate holy moly.
Thank you Thermy for being a CHAMPION of the PEOPLE

uthermy makes the best macro-ny&cheese
The standard in the us is 2 weeks of vacation 😢
Let's go! I hope you enjoy your time off.

Fully agree with the Stormgate take. I've beaten someone at least 3 starcraft ranks higher than me playing CvV.
Thorsday is awsome!
There a link to that maxpax game he mentioned? Love to watch it
mighty af
uThormal at it again
This is what the people want
Great game!

next video: beating GSL with only Thors
Wait a minute .. where's the Thor game against Harstem? I saw it from his POV but I wanted to see it from yours 😉
It is still too painful.
Is that game in Harstem's channel?
@@TodorKolev yes, it was the first game in the latest live chanel -- ua-cam.com/users/livehpAKIpfAiYg?si=3IhP0q-RsjaQLvVb
I hadn't taken a LEGIT vacation in 15 years, so I took 3 weeks to drive my youngest to Disneyworld and NASA. =)

Zealots, immortals, and disruptors I think

No way Marc is not 30! He looks just like 20…
Just kidding, thought mid 30s
Dude im an American we get 5 days of paid time off and 5 days of sick days before you start getting points. Thats after your first 90 dats too
Had a vacation in 2005 then 2020
idk if it just me, but the video quality in this vid was grainy
What is uThermal's job besides UA-cam?
mfw this wasn't posted on thor'sday
remember when SC2 had 6 workers at the start? This is where SG is and it will change a lot 5 years down the road
Most of the time thors sux, but sometimes out of the blue they are just obliterating anything that present to themselves..go figure
In my opinion
Stormgate=poop
30 is way past the age when Marc should be moving from girlfriend to wife. But its still no quite too late.
young people these days put off marriage quite a long time
Hapthor Crushsome ;)
