OK, NICE chops goin down with this incredibly talented drummer and his excellent-bass-chops sister. But one of this song's major strengths is its lyrics. And this really busy playing kind of steps all over that- but of course there's no singing anyway, and the melody is just being used as a vehicle for showy playing.

Joe 1234 I only started Drumline and Marching Band last year so seeing traditional outside of that is why I thought it was weird. Still new. :p
Antdog Gaming and Things playing traditional grip on funk has been standard for years. If you don't believe me, check out Bernard Purdie. He is the most recorded funk drummer and he mainly plays traditional.
