Agree, I don't get it why other people hating on the Smith machine. Some exercises are better on the Smith machine imo, my top 3 are Calf raises, close grip bench press, and overhead press
Over head pressing on smith machine is great for clavicular head of pecs and deltoids as you can go heavy and super controlled. Has helped my dumbbell pressing pb because of that little extra high pec muscle. One of my go to’s these days.
It's also that not everyone has amazingly strong rotator cuffs, I cannot deal with benching free weight more than once a week, but pressing movements blow my chest up so much more than flys ever could!
I train Smith machine due to years of cumulative lifting injuries. When I see someone knocking it, I know they're just being immature and arrogant. Your day will come, trust me. LoL

I mean, that's just not true. Fasted cardio? Useless. Pre-activation? Useless. Non-full ROM training? Not as good. Junk volume, protein anabolic window, chasing the pump, "feeling the muscle (not MMC)", cardio kills gains, high reps when cutting, carbs/food at night make you fat, spot reducing body fat, etc. You're just plain wrong and really angry for some reason?
thank you for saying this... ofc its a valid machine... people hate on it for no reason. Especially if you have a torn labrum like me... it can be CRUCIAIL to being able to train.
It’s all I use right now I have two torn shoulders three collapse discs in my neck and elbow pain. The smith machine relieves a lot of it. After surgery I’ll keep using it till I’m cleared for total free weights. Oh yeah mates.

Depends on the particular machine though. I tried bench on a Smith once at my old gym because all the benches were taken and it was terrible. The angle felt super awkward, and the bar was way too thick even though I have very big hands. I had to go way lighter than usual to avoid injuring myself, and then I could do way too many reps than my targeted rep range. Probably would have been great for squatting, but that particular Smith machine was terrible for the bench press.
I don’t use smith machine for anything except squats. Smith machine squats (feet slightly forward) always give me an insane quad pump. Just look at Cbum; he only squats on smith machine.

This machine is a joke 😂 easy pass. I respect jay’s opinion but outside of him or professional bodybuilders it’s a clown machine and it’s better to just use free weight or stand squat rack 😂 most people don’t even use it right

Only fools say “smith machine is useless” when they’re missing on the gains man. Incline smith has been a game changer for me especially.

I really wish my local gym had more of these avaliable. Machines purpose built for lifting, are objectively fantastic for building muscle.
