What I do appreciate about Jonathan compared to other experts that review video game guns is that he understands where the line between realism and game design/game balancing goes. He immediately understood that the smoke trail on the grenade launcher is a game design thing to make the weapon easier to operate rather than just an incorrect design.

A couple comments on the nail gun: they do make nail guns with an onboard pneumatic reservoir. Also, one time when I was working at a paintball field, I actually chronoed my finish nailer. I don't remember the exact number, but it was well below what a paintball or airsoft gun would fire. Frankly, unless you were actually pressing it against someone, a nail gun would not be a threatening weapon except perhaps as a club

A 12 gauge with a scope is not an uncommon sight where i am. For the longest time rifle hunting was illegal, even now we have substantial caliber restrictions, and shotshells are also not allowed for deer season. Meaning if you wanted to take a deer here before restrictions were loosened somewhat it would be with a slug gun.
You're also allowed a pistol, as long as the bullet is minimum .357" diameter, the case length was at least .850" long, the cartridge is straight walled, and the ammo used an expanding bullet.
We're very specific, which is probably why you can still find a good amount of 40s&w guns here to go alongside your, sometimes scoped, slug gun.

The rust distribution looks likes its based on an occlusion map, which essentially is a map of the magnitude of how how much ambient light can reach the surface. It's commonly used for this sort of effect.

Usually when rust skins are added to the game they are designed by the community, so don't blame the dev team.

In Destiny 2 and Warframe, they had the site of the shotguns to show where the spread would roughly land. If it was a slug it would be less accurate and just show the general area where the slug would land. So a site in games is a 50/50 deal with some uses

have Game Spot and Jonathan thought about looking into the original Rainbow six Vegas games to analyse? I remember when they first came out a massive selling point was the introduction of scanning real weapons and kit into the games, obviously graphics will be dated in comparison to today but would be interesting to see how successful they were on that front as one of the original arcade/simulation shooter hybrids

I wonder if that hand cannon made from the 20mm shell had ever been fired.
I would be pretty nervous to use it, cartridges aren't strong enough to contain an explosion outside of the firing chamber.
And what was the intended projectile? A handful of pellets would be best, the least likely to explode in your hand 😂
When I was a kid, there was a boy in the other school across town who blew his fingers off with a home made zip gun he rigged with a rat trap to fire 12ga shotgun shells out of a chunk of metal tubing that just... didn't work, clearly.
He earned the moniker "Freddy Boom Boom"

I doubt it has been fire - there's certainly no evidence of that. Although it obviously depends how tiny a charge you try to use in it. It would stand the same sort of charge a percussion pocket pistol would take, I suspect.

Historically, there are a lot of blackpowder weapons made with brass barrels. The most important part of the barrel to resist failure is the chamber area, and the base is the thickest part of a cartridge wall as well. If the gun was loaded with black powder and a packet of small caliber shot it would probably work, but I wouldn't want to rely on it not blowing up after shooting it multiple times, or even once.
