Corgan has always had a special place in my musical heart. I listen to him when I'm in my bag and if I'm fairly happy, he does both emotions fairly well.

this sounds like im floating, far away underwater in some imaginary land, undisturbed, and forgetting the whole world. the distortion comes in, i get ripped away from contentment, struck with the horrors of the reality i tried to forget, forever chasing that euphoria i knew for that brief bit of time.

This song, and the song “Daylight” by Failure, have the greatest guitar solos ever.

Not true. James wrote intro to Soma. Billy wrote all chord progression and melody. Main riff from Mayonaise is from James, but Billy arranged it into a real song.

I read somewhere that this song was written about a really bad episode of explosive diarrhea that Billy had. It was apparently so bad that he had reconstructive surgery on his anus because the force of diarrhea tore his anal tissue, I mean like obliterated his anus beyond recognition. Doctors didn't even recognize that it was an anus that they were working on. True story.
