Thanks for your question! There are two reasons. First, we are not the sole rights holder on any of the videos; we don't have the right to share the videos in their complete, finished form, nor can we allow others to do so. Second, we are a small not-for-profit that, unusually, relies largely on earned income (though we happily accept donations). If we release all of our products for free, we can't continue to produce new videos, audio, or books.

I believe those people honored those Bear adversaries in a ritual of combat. Probably sent out a young man to face the Cave Bear, for a rite of passage. If he succeeded the skull would be honored by the tribe in this way. Also gaining the faith of the tribe in the individual.

One neanderthal probably couldn't kill a cave bear on his own.

The Ainu people's name reminds me of the Ainur from Tolkien mythos, he probably took the name from them like he did many others and it goes to show how much he knew of the world and mythology in general.

In my humble opinion.. If you were to honor the mind of Joseph Campbell and all the wonderful things it comes to explain and narrate, then i truly believe you should make the FULL LECTURES available to the public for free rather than selling it on Spotify and through other media platforms. You are making money from a dead mans insights. I think that's morally wrong.

    • @earth9544

I put those lectures up on my channel twice and the JC Foundation took them down for copyright violation. They are doing a huge disservice to JC's legacy. It is not only morally wrong, as you pointed out, but also illegal. They are claiming copyright for lectures 50+ years old that were broadcast on public radio and should be public domain. The Joseph Campbell Foundation is worthless and have done nothing to honor his legacy. They are only concerned in personal agendas and profit.

truEarth the Joseph Campbell foundation does not owe the world anything. To exist they need to have an income. Perhaps you should learn to appreciate what they Re doing and contribute to their efforts and not spread all this negativity that stand against everything Campbell was about.
