      If the mark had been honest he would still have been cheated; he put his own money into the wad that Redford stole. He would have realized that when he went to separate his out at the drop off.

    Does anyone know what the 'thief' calls him as he runs off? Ive seen this movie a few times, and have never been sure! Sounds like 'Sucker egg,' but not sure.... Then again, I'm so dumb it took me a couple of views before i even knew what had happened!

    this movie has to be taken 2nd degree e.g how the hell can you open a betting shop without local authority approval , they would be straight onto you, everyone in the betting shop is a stooge. no member of the general public walk into it, yet it's in a major town. everyone in the

      The movie takes place in the 1930s. Back then there was a fair amount of illegal gambling being run by organized crime who regularly paid off corrupt police, city officials, to not get raided and shut down.

      @@kayvee6 But the only people in the betting shop are stooges not members of the public, notice there is no betting on anything else accept horses. still a brilliant film as long as it's taken second degree.
